Donivine Stewart commits to BU

I would think this would make it so we would have no reason to sign another small guard this year. We should go big now for sure. We have Dodie,Sam,DSE,and EM all who can play point guard at times. Even with an injury or if EM didn't come back we are still set at Point and have DS the next year.

This signing makes me wonder if EM has a future with BU................

I personally hope he is not really like Will Walker. I grew up with that kid and he was the cockiest kid I knew and it frequently cost him. Not gonna lie that Will was a good basketball player so I hope Donivine's skills are similar if not better, but I hope Donivine's attitude is nothing like Will's.

Judging by the kids comments and how he handles himself in interviews on the videos I posted...... I don't think character or attitude will be an issue with D. Stewart.

I was just going to post that after reading the whole PJ Star article. Sounds like a great get

I hope he's right.............

???It??™s a relief and I??™m happy with the decision I made. I had the biggest smile on my face when I told Coach Les I was coming. Coach promised me he??™d be there for four years and I promised him I??™d give 100 percent for four years."

Was just wondering to myself how long it would take that quote to make it's way here.

I disagree.....if your winning it doesn't matter where they come from and if you are losing it doesn't matter where they come from.

And you contention makes no sense. Bradleys greatest players have come from OUTSIDE Peoria. Simple mathmateics yes but the argument was that locals are better becuase they are like renting vs owning the home.

IF thats true we've had some great renters...:)

And for those not thrilled with Jims record for the last 8 years I haven't heard too many screaming to get more local kids.....its get the most talented from wherever.

I assume you are counting greater Peoria as Peoria....

Roger Phegley, Curtis Stuckey, Charles White, Jeremy Crouch, Daniel Ruffin, Trevor Trimpe. I'm probably forgetting a few. I didn't say local players were better, I said it was my opinion that you can get a better quality nationally ranked player if he is from your hometown. Players outside of the area come to Bradley if it is their best option, players from here could possibly come to Bradley because they want to, even if it is not the #1 basketball school recruiting them. To me, Prosser and Stewart are two recent examples of that.

I like the fact that DS not only has talent on the court but also seems to have a good head on his shoulders. I like the fact that another local kid has decided to play at BU. I love the fact that he wants to be a part of the Bradley tradition. I want the best possible player to come play for BU. It shouldn't matter if he's from this area or not. Now let's hope we hear something soon about next years recruits.

Thanks for posting all the videos and articles on Donivine Stewert. I don't follow high school basketball very much, so I didn't know much about him.

I wonder if he will help BU recruit during the summer. Bradley doesn't usually have players verbally commit this early. Hopefully, he has some tall AAU teammates.

Actually, EB said on the pregame radio show before the UNI game in Peoria that EM was available if needed for that game.

I think the point is more that he was 'injured' a good majority of the season, but still seemed to be warming up and practicing fine...

GO BU! Great get

Few thoughts:

Ha! @ the Tornado impostor
I'm a little skeptical of verbals at the moment, but the signing period is soon no? So we wont have to wait long.
I'm wondering if not being in a crappy invitational tournament gave Les the edge to focus on DS and get him to verbal sooner, eh? eh?

2011 commits cannot sign until the fall... Only 2010 commits can sign here very shortly.

Isn't DS only a jr? ...EM is a soph....so by the time DS puts on that BU uniform..EM would be a senior....soooo don't see why this hurts EM. Am I missing something?

I think the majority of the conversation is that the feeling about EM is separate from that of the signing of DS. So in other words, I think most here agree, the two events are largely unrelated, but the speculation regarding EM still exists despite this.

DS = Great Get for BU!!!

I was thinking the same thing. By the time Donivine gets here Sammy, Drew, and Dodie will all be gone (unless unforeseen injury causes redshirt year) and Eddren will be a senior. There should be minutes available for him as there was Dyricus and Jake this year.
