Don't buy into the Evansville Hype and BU offense

I’m not. WKU’s house of horrors at Roberts is like ours at Hinkle…won’t win there, can’t win there. Evansville has played nobody and also lost to a D-2 school exhibition like we did to D 3. Shy Ely will not be able to carry them through the year…playing them at the end is ideal as they should be worn down by that time. My main concerns remain the same, bad shooting, free throwing, and defense. Les should have them shoot free throws an hour a day until they are at 72 percent or greater as a team as athletic as we are, we will be fouled more often and need to convert our one and ones. If we don’t beat UWM, it’s clear where we really are as a team- the bottom half of the valley. Unless Wilkins is the 2nd coming of Wilt Chamberlain, I don’t see any miracles in SLU this year. I’d like to see Les design some more set plays like he does at TO’s and start to introduce them more to the regular offense. We run such a basic offense as it is that it shouldn’t be too hard to sprinkle in some more designed plays much like we do with the variety of defenses we use.

We don't play SLU this year

It comes down to making shots and playing defense. We’re athletic enough to defend anyone. If we don’t chuck 25 3’s a game, and have the right people shooting them (i.e. not Theron Wilson and Taylor Brown), we can still score points. But, we’re young, and often times look disorganized. It’s going to come down to holding serve at home to stay out of Thursday. I’m penciling in 2 home losses in conference (CU and ISU), and hoping we can steal wins at UNI, INSU, and either Drake or UE (all winnable even for this group). That puts us at 9-9 or 10-8. That should keep us out of Thursday. More than 2 home losses and it’s Thursday here we come.

Wilkins won’t be Wilt Chamberlain. But he sounds like a skilled big man. Those can never hurt. I don’t expect much, but if he’s 6’9” and can walk and chew gum at the same time, he might be able to give us something here or there. It’s a no-lose proposition considering what we’re working with right now.

Now that we know AW is done, we can all readjust our expectations, and enjoy watching a class develop. We haven’t done that in a long, long time. The JUCO era is over. Finally. TCS…we hardly knew ye…

No decision or announcement has been made yet, so we shouldn't assume this until something has been released

i stand corrected. i thought they lost in OT to S.Indiana. Either way, they haven't played anybody and when UNC pastes them by 50, it will prove that Marty ball has a long way to go.

Despite a thread on valleytalk that is titled (and I am quoting exactly, so there is no confusion)--

"BU Andrew Warren to redshirt"

This is incorrect, and there has been no official decision made, yet.

I have heard that Andrew, his parents, and the medical officials plan to get together soon, and re-evaluate AW's foot after he has been back in his boot for the past few weeks, and then make the final decision.

People are free to pretend to know the facts and bicker and call each other childish names, but the official decision will be made, possibly later this week.

Like most people, I suspect he will redshirt, but that's just my opinion, and not fact. I feel badly for Andrew, and I am sure he and his parents will make the right decision.

The thread on Valley Talk directly quotes Andrews mother who made the statements to a public audience. Imagine if everyone only read the headlines on this board.

He is suppose to be evaluated by a Dr. tomorrow ; I am not sure that any decision will be made then as it probably depends on whatever options they give him.

No, the thread does not directly quote Andrew's mother, it only paraphrases what she said. I have the entire text of the chatroom saved, and have read what was said. Nowhere did AW's mom say he was going to redshirt, as the title of the thread announces.
So that title is just plain wrong. Even the poster admitted that later in his posts.

She did say he would meet with the doctor tomorrow (Wed.), and a decision could be made after that. She hinted that they were leaning toward the redshirt option, but that no decision was made yet.

From Kirk Wessler's column Thursday morning

The most-repeated question around Bradley basketball these days: When will Andrew Warren return?

The most-repeated answer from Braves coach Jim Les: When Andrew is pain-free in his right foot, which was broken in September.

And how long might that be?

Nobody knows, but consider this. Former BU star Anthony Parker broke the same bone, the fifth metatarsal of his right foot, in November 1996, his senior season. He returned to action in early January, but he was not pain-free until months after the season ended.

So this means what BB?

So you suggest we all just blindly accept everything said on message boards?
Personally, I have read some pretty preposterous inaccuracies on VT.

I don??™t think Ive read anything on VT as preposterous as TCS being "NBA Talent" luckily people are able to interpret the information themselves. If you don??™t believe what someone posts then ignore it. Da Coach said he had the transcript of exactly what his mother said why not post the exact quotes and let the readers decide?
