Drake Message Board

Just got off the Drake message board. They don't appear to think the Braves pose much of a threat. Most predict a comfortable/easy win.
Then, during the 2nd half of the UNI-Creighton game on ESPN 2, in an interview with Seth Davis, Coach Keno Davis only want to talk about his 14-1 start. No mention of the Braves. Their board only wants to talk about their up-coming game with ISU on Saturday. Looks like a recipe for an upset to me. GO BRAVES

Add to that, the end of Gary Parrish's article:

http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/10578690/2

"My advice: Get back to campus, ASAP, Drake students. I know classes don't start until next week and all. But would you really want to miss Saturday's game against Illinois State, particularly when it could be the 15th consecutive win and launch the Bulldogs into the unlikeliest of places, i.e., the national rankings?"

Awesome. I couldn't be happier that we're being overlooked. Drake has had one of the easiest schedules in the league thus far (2nd worst SOS-wise). They're good, but not so good that they can overlook a trip to Peoria. Even in this regime's early years, winning in Peoria wasn't easy. Regardless of what may have taken place the last 2 home games against sub-par competition, tomorrow night will be no cakewalk. I don't think Keno is naive enough to think that, but we'll see. It certainly sounds like some of the fans of a program that's had 1 winning season in 20 years are.

Thanks for trying to cheer us up, BB, but I have resigned myself to the fact that Bradley simply doesn't stand a chance tomorrow night against the juggernaut that is Drake.
How can the 1-4 Bradley possibly expect to compete with the 19th best (by RPI) team in the country. Let's face it, this would have to be the upset of the century for Bradley to pull off a win.

We can only hope they don't embarrass us.

Reminds me of when the KU fans came and payed us a visit. I seem to recall one poster providing us with video of a KU player Dunking the ball and telling us something like, thats what you're in for.

If ISU is the game they have following us it really IS a good time to be getting them.

I was excited about this game...now I'm REALLY excited.

Ya know it's all well and good if the Drake fans decide to overlook us, but I highly doubt that Davis and the Drake players will have the same attitude. I'm just sayin ...

I hate the Drake....

This Drake?

Which Drake is it? :)

Drake's SOS (Strength of Schedule) right now is 121, the 2nd worst in the MVC.
Their best noncon road game is a win over RPI 120 UW-M (a team that has shown is bad).
Especially if Josh Young isn't 100%, then I think we can expose Drake.

"Is that a...(gulp) Drake's Coffee Cake?"

"Yep, that your Big Boy. I've got another one...but I'm savin' it for later!"

The line in today's USA Today has Drake as only a 2 point favorite. I guess Vegas is expecting a closer game than the Drake fans are :p

I've been reading this board for a long time and thought I'd add my 2 cents. Drake is a class program and though an opponent, they have always been very cordial and showed great sportsmanship toward Bradley. I read their message and my take is they have nothing but respect for the Bradley basketball program. I don't see where they are "over board" or dissing the Braves. If the shoe were reversed and the Braves had a record like Drake, what would our fans be saying? I can guarantee it would be insane. Let's show one of the other private schools in the Valley some class and respect that they deserve, let the players decide the game with our heads held high.

I just read that thread again, and I don't see a whole lot of Drake fans predicting a comfortable/easy win. Actually, I don't see a whole lot of predictions at all in that thread.

Good luck to the Braves.....after tonight!

But I think that's exactly the point........

NOT that Drake folks are dissing on BU or talking trash....but that there seems to only be interest and discussion about the future game with ISU, and it DOES appear as if many Drake fans, and possibly even the head coach from that quote above, are looking past BU and more towards the ISU game.

Isn't the quote from above from Gary Parrish of cbs sportsline?

I didn't know he was a mouthpiece for Keno Davis.

I think Old Timer's post said it best.

It sounds like you guys might be looking for a rallying cry or possible bulletin board material to get everyone fired up about this game.

I just don't see the lack of respect from Drake to Bradley. But maybe I am not looking as hard as you guys are for it.

What quote above? The only quote I see above is a quote from Gary Parrish, a sportswriter. How does what a sportswriter say translate into Drake looking past BU. Edit: I didn't see CPac's post when I was typing mine...looks like we both posted at about the same time

As for your first paragraph....there has not been a SINGLE post yet on the Drake board about the Drake-ISU game, so I have no idea where you're coming from on that one. Drake's board is a little different than this one. For whatever reason, there's not usually a lot of pre-game discussion of any game.

It seems like some people are trying to create something (disrespect for Bradley from the Drake fans/coaches) that is simply not there.
