Drake Message Board

No-- I am referring to the quote attributed directly to Coach Keno Davis in the Seth Davis interview.

I've read the very first post in this thread several times....I don't see any quotes from Keno. I did listen to the interview last night....Keno simply responded to the questions that were asked of him. If you want to read more into that, that's your prerogative. Still doesn't explain the other statement about fans on the Drake board being more interested/concerned with the Drake-ISU game, even though there hasn't been a single post yet about that game.

Was it Seth Davis or Doug Gottlieb? Gottlieb was the guy doing doing the play by play last night in the Creighton at UNI game.

I heard the interview. It was about 45-60 seconds long. He never brought up the Bradley or ISU games. Does that mean he disrespects either?

Davis was on to talk about their 14-1 start. And that is what he talked about. Gottlieb really pushed the Dr. Tom angle on Keno, more so than anything else.

I am going on the first post, I didn't hear the interview...but the poster is the one who drew the conclusion Davis was looking past the Braves.
My comments was
"and possibly even the head coach from that quote above"

a reasonable assessment, so gimme a break...

Sorry T, I just don't see it. Nothing in the inital post in this thread had anything to do with Keno and disrespecting Bradley or overlooking them.

He only talked about their 14-1 start, his Dad, and his players during the in-game interview.

If that is overlooking Bradley, so be it.

Fans are one thing, it really doesnt matter if any of us look past one game to another.

I highly doubt Davis, especially for how long he has been in the Valley or for the matter on a sideline would ever look past anyone, ever.

Players though are a different breed entirely. No matter what they tell you to your face the fact is they have one of the biggest home games in their history coming up on Saturday, they are getting quite a bit of national exposure and they have won 13 straight. They probably do not look past teams but it isnt hard to get a little caught up in the hype and lose focus.

BU needs to come out tonight, get right up in Drakes face and pressure the heck out of them. Essentially come out swinging and go for a knock out immediately.

Bulletin board material from posters on a message board?

If BU were in Drake's shoes, we'd probably be talking about the ISU game more than a game against a team that's 1-3 in the conference and playing without its all-league PG.

I doubt Drake is "looking past" BU or anything like that, but I can see how it could be a bit of a trap game.

And we definitely wouldn't be talking at all about our game against a team that is 1-4 in conference and missing its all-league PG.;)

Thanks for trying to cheer us up, BB, but I have resigned myself to the fact that Bradley simply doesn't stand a chance tomorrow night against the juggernaut that is Drake.
How can the 1-4 Bradley possibly expect to compete with the 19th best (by RPI) team in the country. Let's face it, this would have to be the upset of the century for Bradley to pull off a win.

We can only hope they don't embarrass us.

This sounds like Slick Willy poor-mouthing Hillary's chances just prior to the New Hampshire primary.

I've been reading this board for a long time and thought I'd add my 2 cents. Drake is a class program and though an opponent, they have always been very cordial and showed great sportsmanship toward Bradley. I read their message and my take is they have nothing but respect for the Bradley basketball program. I don't see where they are "over board" or dissing the Braves. If the shoe were reversed and the Braves had a record like Drake, what would our fans be saying? I can guarantee it would be insane. Let's show one of the other private schools in the Valley some class and respect that they deserve, let the players decide the game with our heads held high.

I agree, Old Timer. I have said this before-- of all the fans in the MVC, I have always found the people at Drake to be the most friendly and gracious of all. We have been attending BU games at Drake every year for the past 25 years. I am happy for those long-suffering fans that they finally have a great team to get behind. Drake is a class program, and being a small midwestern private university, they have many of the same issues to deal with that Bradley has.
Other than their 2 games against Bradley, I will root for them to go undefeated the rest of the way and into the NCAA.
My only problem is that it will make it harder to get good seats at their arena.:)

OK, we get that. But how could you possibly include the coach's thinking based on that quote from Gary Parrish?

Their board only wants to talk about their up-coming game with ISU on Saturday

...when there has not been a single post on the Drake board about the upcoming game with ISU.

Anyway, all the Drake fans that I know have the utmost respect for Bradley and their team, and expect a very tough game tonight.

If you want to know what Keno thinks about Bradley and the upcoming game, I would say check out the Weekly Coaches Teleconferences:

http://www.mvc-sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=36371&SPID=2901&DB_OEM_ID=7600&ATCLID=285511

He thinks Bradley boasts one of the best home courts, not just in the Valley, but in the entire country. It's something that are trying to replicate in DesMoines.

Says Drake is going to have to play it's best to Win Wednesday night.

How dare he!!! We shall make him eat his conceded words tonight I swear it!!!! I'm sure his statements will be wallpapered about BU's locker room tonight which will translate into a tidal wave of righteous anger leading to a victory for the mighty 1-4 Braves tonight by the narrow final score of 104-27.

It's not worth bothering with tornado, DUBulldog. Him admitting he's off base about something is about as likely as Barry Bonds admitting he used steroids. Good luck to your squad tonight.

look about 5 posts down

I have not met people from Drake, but if I do there is no reason for me not to treat them with respect. That being said, the thought of any team walking into Peoria and winning, much less getting an easy win, makes me crazy. Could it be a little jealousy of the conference record? Yeah. It comes with winning.

no such thing....and you appear to not even know what's being discussed, since whatever Gary Parrish had to say isn't even relevant to this.

and if you want to know something about who was off base and who was not...
go check how many people said Drake was going top be bad this year, and then check this from before the season even started....

I never said there was.....but you are free to take it up with whoever did, and anyway.....
