Welcome to Bradley Mayar Wol, the latest commit for our re-vamped coaching staff, and the 11th scholarship player for the 2025-26 Bradley roster - https://www.bradleyfans.com/forum/s...lk/494018-bradley-scholarship-grid#post494018

Mayar was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, though his parents were from South Sudan. He played at Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh. He was ranked as the # 90 best player in his class of 2023 by 247sports. He is 6'8", 200 lbs and has been listed in the past as both a guard and a forward.
He was a "consensus 4-star recruit" out of high school - https://cofcsports.com/news/2022/11/9/mens-basketball-four-star-wol-joins-kelseys-2023-class.aspx
He chose Charleston over offers from Clemson, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss and Cincinnati - https://ekusports.com/news/2024/5/2/mens-basketball-colonels-add-former-top-100-national-recruit

He played his freshman season at College of Charleston, then transferred one year ago to Eastern Kentucky. He averaged 8.9 ppg and 4.8 rpg for EKU in 2024-25. Despite starting 20 of his 32 games, he was voted the Atlantic Sun Conference Sixth Man of the Year. He will have 2 years of eligibility as the rules stand now.

His shooting stats this past season from Eastern Kentucky (18-14 overall, 12-6 in ASUN- tied for 4th).
They show he improved as the season progressed-
Overall- in 23.8 minutes per game, 32 games, 20 starts
8.9 points per game (3rd on team)
4.8 rebounds per game (3rd on team)
FG%- 40.4% (101-250)
3pt FG%- 32.9% (47-143)
FT%- 75.5% (37-49)

ASUN Conference- in 23.9 minutes per game, 18 games, 7 starts
9.7 points per game
4.6 rebounds per game
FG%- 42.4% (59-139)
3pt FG%- 35.7% (30-84)
FT%- 81.3% (26-32)

Note that his shooting percentages improved substantially in the conference part of the season.
He was a starter in the non-conference games, but started only 7 of the 18 conference games.

A couple of 2024-25 highlight videos (he is # 1) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwTYlbS_SbI
Another video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeZbEHzR5LM

He appears to be a decent ball-handler, and has a quick release on his shot.
In the highlight video, it appears many of his 3-pointers that are shown look more like a set-shot, rather than a jumper.

Looks to be athletic, has a nice shot with a quick release and decent rebounder. I like this addition to the team. I think Mya Wardle played there so maybe coach saw him when he visited her.

Seems like a good get, if he plays defense this could be the CD replacement. Maybe it’s the South Sudan connection but his highlight video reminds me of Loul Deng, especially his gait and way he moves his body.

wow nice get. length+shooting at the 3/4 position really helps the BW scheme.
I see a lot of battles for playing time in their future. should make for a very competitive/productive summer.
1 - johnson, wheeler, richardson
2/3 - burch, zobrist, richardson, huibregtse, smith?,
3/4 - thomas, smith?, wol, van der knaap
4/5 - jonovic, thomas

next couple of weeks will be exciting to finish out the 4/5.

still need aggressive rebounding! Esp. guys who grab offensive rebounds and prevent the other team from getting
way too many offensive rebounds...

Agree totally we need the center position filled primarily. Saw in earlier post that Wardle and staff have offered Stefan Civic. Maybe he will be the center we need to add to our roster. Shall see who else is added to the team. Need those Frontline players who can bang under the basket and rebound and finish at the rim.

Small quibble, 247sports had a 90 grade on him coming out of high school, but that he was the 90th best player. They had him at 117 and from what I can see they had him rated higher than any other public service. Not a huge difference, just an accurate reporting thing. I’m excited for this guy.

He was actually a top-90 recruit at the time he committed to Charleston on June 12, 2022. He dropped from 83 to 112 later on in September of that year (probably in part due to the fact he didn't commit to a power conference school)

That is how Drake beat us last season, extra shots because of offensive rebounding.

Absolutely. And there were other games lost because Bradley gave up too many offensive rebounds and second-chance points.
I posted these numbers a few weeks ago, but according to the cumulative stats on the Bradley basketball website, Bradley gave up 378 offensive rebounds to opponents in their 37 games this season. That is over 10 offensive rebounds per game by the opponent. It is like giving your opponent 10 extra possessions. Better rebounding would have probably won several more games this past season, and might have won Bradley a conference title or a tournament title.

I'm really getting excited about our 3 transfer Portal players so far! It almost seems that the Portal is really helping us have a very good team that can compete for the Valley title! It appears now, we've at least covered talent wise who we lost last year! 2 now are 4 star and 1 is 3.5 stars out of the portal! It almost seems as if it's easier for Bradley to recruit better players out of the portal then high school! Yes we have a MVC best high school class, but the portal brings more experience and therefore is more productive! I'm so looking forward to a few more very good transfers and what a season we could have next year!!!!
