I'm not saying we should not go after the support of the community. That is what makes BU basketball so precious. We do need to set expectations of where they sit. The students should get a few prime seats IMHO. This should not diminish the support that the Braves get from the community.

Well, this is a lot of BS. 98.9%? More like, 47ish%! Get your facts right!
Re-read what he said KMart -- 98.9% of the student population that goes to the games...... not 98.9% of the student population goes to the games.
Besides, I doubt if even 47%ish of BU students go to the games. I'd guess it's more like 25%........ and that's just sad.

No...Lottery for the frat's would be bad. Not only do the frat's NOT show up for games, the only time they ever made showings is when they had a charity event like the body surfing contests against the cheerleaders. Sorry to say the Greek community does not support Bradley basketball very well at all. In fact I think that is where the promotors should focus most of their attention. This is just my experience at games from 06-09.
I would agree, and I was in a fraternity. There are two out of the fourteen who have a good showing (luckily one is mine), and sororities are non-existent.
ok... Maybe someone here can explain something to me. How is it that we have an Associate AD for Communications who knows nothing about the "Elite Student Section", yet we have a project underway by the Marketing Department for this section?

25% would be amazing to be honest. The University of Illinois has about 1200-1300 student season ticket holders. That is just about 4% of the student body. That would correspond to about 160 Bradley Students. I know we have done much better than that historically.
You hit the nail on the head. The Greek community is a huge part of Bradley student life, but show little or no support for Bradley Basketball. I was at BU from '03-'08 and basically never saw more than a handful of Greeks at any game at any given time. If Bradley wants a strong showing from the students, the frats and sororities need to be a big part of their focus.
They also need to promote attending games big-time in the freshman dorms, which they did absolutely none of when I was at BU.
This "elite" idea is beyond stupid. I had season tickets every year and went to practically every game, and there was no way I would have spent $50 on this kind of thing.

lol. yeah I bet only 10.763% of our current student body has attended 1 game or more.
6.350% of them have only attended ISU red games.
So only 4.413% are repeat offenders.
It appears 2.443% can name 5 or more players from other conference teams other than ISU red.
I also gauge that only 0.3 % get pissed when we lose and go back to where they reside and think about how bad a loss was or how our season is in turmoil..then post on here. ;-)
But none the less the ones that simply show up should be honored. THANK YOU! :biggrin:
I feel that this marketing idea is terrible. Main reason being that I don't want to pay 50 dollars to sit where I can sit when I walk into a game at 7:03. Although if someone pays that much they must be a fan.
I also know some marketing majors and know they are always working on projects to promote the basketball games...I really hope that this isn't one of their project ideas that went too far...as most I know have no interest in BU basketball.
I don't like the idea of raffling off sections to frats...because those who aren't in frats....yeah. I wouldn't want to not get to sit where I usually can because a group that may or may not show up has it for them. I only notice one fraternity that consistently shows up for games anyways.
My vote is for first come first served...and if you don't have an interest in Bradley basketball transfer to Evansville. :evil:

Some students are Elite because they or their parents can belle up the most:roll: This is the same as saying to all fans, you are a Elite Fan by the price of the seat you pay to sit in:-x What BS:!: If I was a student who has been coming and supporting the team and can't afford to pay or just pain don't agree with it, I would tell BU's marketing people to kiss my rosie left side of my ass:!: The bus's could roll to the CC with the hand full of students who are willing to pay to separate them selfs from their fellow students just for the sake of a seat and the title of Elite Fan:roll: This is just what they did when they divided the Chief's Club up:!: Then they wonder why their before game parties are a joke anymore. Thats because the not so elite fans just don't feel as a part of it! Don't kid yourself people, this is about the most furtherest way of putting students in the stands, as can be done! The true concern here should be developing and maintaining student interest in supporting of their team, not which student pays the most for the title of Elite Student Fan

I agree completely, I couldn't believe that there turned out to be some validity to this when BP didn't know about it... It's not like Bobby doesn't have his finger on the pulse. I applaud the effort by the students, but I don't think they have the right idea or direction here. Things like 'exclusive viewing parties' and advertising 'reserved' seats (when really the students just might have the possibility of getting early) while charging $50 isn't the way to garner MORE student interest.

Ok, so i'm one of the students who was approached by the athletic department to start this group. The intention is not to screw anyone over or for us to "make some money" the intention is to get the students who care about bradley basketball to be able to support the team. I am currently a freshman, and i was at every home game except 2, stood in the front row and led most of the cheers. The student support is terrible, my high school student section was larger and more passionate. The extra $35 isn't going to kill anyone, but it will make the tickets mean a little bit more to people. Last year over 40 people bought season tickets and never picked them up, and compared to other schools, $50 is still extremely cheep for basketball tickets. With this group, we can work to further organize the students, and get the students who are going to yell and cheer to the front.

You're right Chico. I remember when I was in school and it was a REAL chore convincing friends to go to the game..... even the ones with season tickets. And this was during the Hawk years. I'd bully, belittle, and question their manhood yet they would still rather stay back and drink or spend time with their girlfriend. Bunch of wusses, I tell ya.

The people in the front are already the ones who yell and cheer and care (minus those who get their seats saved while getting lost trying to find the SS :x)...I won't pay 50 bucks for a seat that I can get for a dollar when I arrive at the game somewhat early or occasionally right on time!
Also I feel that it is more respectable to watch intently, care, and understand what is going on...rather than just paint my body and scream like a chicken with my head cut off not really knowing what is happening.
As in just going to games because it is fun to act CRAZIE. (Not that this definitely is the case, just a possibility)Future Walk-On
