yup yup. i wish we could see all best players of all times play and stuff at equal level but o well. a sports fan can dream...
Yeah, that's exactly what I just said, basically. Even players from our era here (like Granger) are completely different physically than players from Hawk's time. I also don't think it's really any different for either sport... Baseball players are monstrous in every possible dimension when compared to their 1920 counterpart. Had Gene Melchiorre been born in 1985 he'd be much stronger and more athletic than he surely was in 1951. He'd probably even be a bit taller.
DRU don't know if CC is familiar with Milos or not, but his post mentioned Sean Harris, a Yuba player who will be joining us after he completes his mormon mission.
lol he was, dang that stinks. interesting, thanks for fact fish7! but still nba wasnt what it is today back in 1951, i think we all know that. so as far as he goes, im sure granger and hawkins both way better
I hate to even respond to this because I have nothing but respect for Hersey's game and the way he carried himself. I was not around when Granger was here and have no notion of how good he was here. However, assuming he continues at the pace he is now, I already think he is a better NBA player than Hawk was.Where would Phegley or JJ be if we had the 3 point shot when they played. Talk to me about how great Granger is when he becomes a true team player like Hawk was in the NBA. I heard from many players how Hawk was the perfect teammate. He could score but he was always looking for the player w/ the best shot. I am sure some of that was by design but I have not seen that w/ Granger & I know a lot of that is because he doesn't have a lot of talent around him.
I will give him credit for getting his act together and putting in the work that it takes to be a star in the NBA though because he was mislead by some people while at BU or he would have been one of the top 5 players to play here. The way it is he is only a quitter when it comes to BU
what are you talking about granger one of most soft spoken stars in league that does not hog the ball and not trust his teammates. his teammates like him, so u are totally off base there. and it doesn matter if those guys had the 3, that wouldnt make them stronger and more athletic.
Do you know where to put a comma and/or what a capital letter is?![]()

I am not sure he knows the above but he sure don't have a clue about who should be the Favorite BU Player of All-time:!:[/QUOTE]
I think the thread changed from who is the favorite to who is the best. Still, IMO, I'll take the Hawk in either category.

(I'm the official message board "enthusiasm-police" and now I am doing an impersonation of the message board editing-police. What could be next? I better get a raise!)![]()

No kidding...I was wondering if anyone was going to point that out. If its "the best" then I win hands down with Reggie Hall...
Lighten up folks...this should be a feel good thread. Its NOT about matching one BRAVE against another BRAVE...MY GOODNESS. Its about YOUR personal FAV....PERIOD.
And its NOT a "worthless thread" it just turns in to the same ole "your wrong and I'm correct" even though it a simple question about who your favorite alltime.... NOT the BEST...... BU player is.
There should be NO arguments.....just good feelings that BU has had SOOOOO many alltime favorites of all of us.
