Final: Bradley 65 Virginia Tech 66

I appreciate the effort that this team expends on defense, but man, they can't throw the ball in the ocean. It's going to be tough winning games shooting less than 40% from the field.

That one hurts. Thought we had a pretty good chance to pull out the W in OT and we just couldn't make the plays when we really needed them.

A very disappointing loss, but we will learn from it, and hopefully we win tomorrow. 9-3 going into the Valley season would still be great. And the fact that we are all so disappointed in this loss is a good thing in that it shows how far this team has come in just one year. So hopefully this game leads us into a successful Valley season where we still need to prove we can be competitive against Valley competition each and every night. :)

That one hurt.

On the bright side though, this team is way better than I expected coming into the year.

15 points better than last year? For sure.

another game where we shoot only 36%....shot selection is a problem when we have guys who hit under 30% on 3-pointers taking so many every game...
.....but at least we aren't getting blown out -
Let's hope for Christmas we get the rest of the season without ever seeing 10 TO from our pg

I agree. Our defense keeps us in and gives us a chance in games like this, but I think we have enough of a sample size to know that the shooting just isn't going to come along this year.

Unfortunately, we'll probably lose a few more games that we could win if we could either make a clutch shot or not miss free throws in the last minute of a game.

I really appreciate the effort and sacrifice that Walt has made for the team by accepting to play the role of PG... the leader of the team. It's obviously a position that he is not ideally suited for. I suspect he'll have much less trouble against less athletic mid-major MVC teams... That said, I can't wait for Anthony Fields next year!

Just talking about BU taking VT to OT and BU a shot/FT away from a win, is such a great leap from last year.

Stay tough BU, no back sliding... Learn what it takes to beat BCS schools and how to close out games...

Continue to bring it every game and 2012-13 will be a great year with more to come in future years!

That's fine, but we did not finish the job last night. Even with the missed free throws, if we don't turn the ball over, we have a shot of at least hanging on. Plus a better night by WL would have compensated our lack of shooting. Not putting all the blame on him, but these things tend to get magnified when there isn't that much margin for error. Oh well, let's win tonight and go home 9-3. I don't think too many people predicted that!

You do also make a good point Gary regarding that will probably have more games like this during the Valley season. That's why even with a win last night, that would not have guarenteed anything in regards to making an NCAA Tournament or NIT run. That said, 10-3 in the non-conference season (includes a win tonight and in the Bracketbuster) combined with a 9-9 Valley record would probably get us into the NIT. I may be getting ahead of myself here, but I'm saying .500 in the Valley would probably be a reasonable goal, whether it's obtainable or not.

I won't dispute your hopes, but I'll be surprised if we win more than 7 conference games.

Noticed BU has billboards with live updates during the games now. Very cool to drive down War Drive and see the exact score of the game on a billboard.

Well that's what I'm kind of saying. I'm trying to downplay everyone's disappointed with last night's loss by saying that even with a win, Bradley would still have the difficult task of finishing at or above .500 in the Valley. And Virginia Tech isn't even one of the elite ACC teams anyway, although they are off to a better start than a lot of people thought. Still, big wins have a way of feeding on themselves, so it is possible we would have more momentum going into the Valley season. But yes, 7 conference wins would still be a challange, but at least be a lot better than last year.

TOs is what killed us here and the belief that our guys can hit 3s. Was there a reason we kept on jacking up 3s in OT when up, instead of feeding the ball inside? Were their bigs just too good? Braves4Life Yes, WL is being asked to play a position that he's just not equipped to handle but he's also jacking up too many shots.

On a positive side....The D is going to be great and this team is rebounding very very well! I believe Geno will have to go deep into our bench in order to keep the defensive intensity going throughout the season.

Anyone know what happened to Crawford 2nd 1/2. The stats during the first 1/2 for him were outstanding.
