Final: Creighton 75 Bradley 58

..only way for any D1 program to improve and move higher in the conference and nationally is to constantly recruit, and even "recruit over" any existing player...

have anyone we've recruited the past couple years been one who was "recruited over"..
maybe Tyshon jumped past a couple others who played his position...but then he was a juco and more experienced than the two he jumped past.

The fact that Milos is still here says a lot.
I don't see how they don't welcome JP with open arms to continue playing. I think the staff loves this kid, as do a lot of BU fans. For all the commitment JP has put forth toward his team and has been a big part of this team since he put on a BU uniform, don't think it's right to let him go - no matter how poorly he plays, or how disgruntled we are at his lack of production, which is subjective among us fans.

I believe Milos is still here because he had not graduated and chose to stay and finish his schooling at Bradley even though he was made aware exactly where his seat on the bench would be. I do not have a problem with letting players know where they stand, what is expected of them, and allowing them to make the decision to stay or not. I do not expect the staff to do this with players that have already graduated from Bradley, unless there is an open spot on the roster. It is my hope the staff has other players they can get in here as soon as possible.

Prosser has one of the worst "skill sets" I have ever seen... being an undersized center...that is worst case scenario....

He has been here 4 years... he isn't going to dramatically improve.

Judging the recruiting class of 2012 is hard. Half the class has been in street clothes on the end of the bench all year. If Grier and Fields were eligible this year it probably puts Eastman on the bench in mop up duty. It would also be a lot easier to keep Walt's and DSE's minutes at a more manageable level.

The 2011 recruiting class is eh. The jury is out on Wells which we expected regardless of coach. Shayok has potential. Crawford is eh. The other two were shipped out which is a great sign. Hopefully Geno will realize recruiting mistakes before they become scholarship wastes as 3rd or 4th year guys.

The 2013 class is unknown at this point. From all accounts Tucker seems to be a great get. The serb seems unknown at this point but if he can come in and shoot there will be Crawfordish minutes to be had for him.

Geno, Jaden, and Chin have to land a couple of big men in this class.

well, I am not so sure of this -

in the only visible evidence of how they played when they were on the same court at the same time...
My recollection was that Jake clearly outplayed & outscored both of them...

You mean since they aren't playing this year or have you seen them in practice?

I like Jake but on his best day he's an adequate player in the Valley

no - the Red-White scrimmage they played head to head - Fields was scoreless but handled the ball well,
Grier hit a bucket from the arc in 3 tries but Jake had a pretty good all around game

I like your assessment and you are 100% correct in that we need to land at least 2 big men in this springs class if we expect to be a better team next season.

We need at least one true big, a real 5, that can contribute right away IMO the other player needs to be a baller that can can put the ball through the net. Yes, it would be nice to get two but getting one will be a tough enough.

You can have your opinion based on a scrimmage. I will take mine based on him shooting 45% from 3 over the games he was a rotation player against multiple division 1 teams as a freshman.

A David Collins type would do it for me.

Prosser is a disappointment. He is probably the softest big man in the Valley. He would be OK if he were coming off the bench and only playing 10-12 minutes a game.

I get nervous whenever the ball is near him on offense and pray that the other team doesn't single him out on defense.

he - obviously being Grier - so I would be ecstatic if he hits 40% -
Fields hit only 24% from the field and under 10% from 3-pt - so he won't likely be a Walt Lemon-like scorer...

You can have your opinion based on a scrimmage....
it's based on more than a scrimmage - some have seen the practices..but we will have to wait anyway - there's nothing we can do 'til we see them on the court next year

I have Grier at 40.8% (40 of 98) last year.

Anyone know what happened to OG at FAU?

1st semester he played a lot had games of 27 and 20....then completely fell out of the rotation and didn't even play in 5 games 2nd semester and most were 5 or less minutes of action.

Played 47 :-o (2OT) minutes and 35 back to back then fell off completely to playing 2-5 minutes

Re-watching this game again today, and noticed Geno and Merfeld had an extended conversation before the game. Do they go back a ways?

There is a connection from the past- Steve Merfeld was an assistnat coach and top recruiter at Bowling Green from 1986-1996 under Jim Larranaga. Geno was a star at Ohio University in the same conference, the MAC, from 1993-1997, and was a high school phenom at Cambridge High School prior to that. Geno was Mr. Basketball in Ohio in 1993. I suspect Merfeld might have recruited Geno to go to Bowling Green, but they would also have crossed paths for the first 3 years Geno played at Ohio and Merfeld was at BGSU.
