Sucks2BU doesn't bother me a bit personally, just a bit of rivalry cheekiness. You don't have to like your opponent, you just have to play by the rules. Ben Johnson's comments about the packers don't bother me either.

The weird thing about this is he only got 3 years probation. How does that crime result in just 3 years probation with no prison time? What am I missing?There were too many examples to cite, including multiple players who had double-digit entries into the McLean County criminal database under Jankovich and Muller. But the case of Bobby Hill is one that stands out....
During the 2009-2010 season, he was arrested and charged with criminal sexual abuse with a minor.
He was "suspended" by Tim Jankovich, which was a meaningless action, since he was injured and was already taking a redshirt that season. However, he remained enrolled at ISU and remained a member of the team and on scholarship. Only after he eventually pleaded guilty to the charges months later in late June of 2010 was he dismissed from the team and from the university.

For the past 6-8 years while Bradley has been good, they've been bad.
Back in Paris Lee/Reggie Lynch era when they were pretty good, we were struggling through the Geno Ford era.
Hafta go back 20 years to Osiris Eldridge when BU & ISU were both pretty good.

Only once in that timeframe, 2008-09, did it happen when Illinois State finished third (11-7) and Bradley finished fourth (10-8). Both teams won at home in the series with four point wins.
I had forgotten that when Bradley won the first game in the series on Jan. 6, 2009, that Illinois State was 14-0 at the time. Similar to how Bradley has its own “O” in Demarion Burch, Illinois State was led that season by their own “O”, Osiris Eldridge, who would end up on the First Team All-MVC team along with Bradley’s Theron Wilson.

IMO, the keys to Bradley winning are not to dig a big hole early in the game, and to defend Chase Walker well.
If someone gets hot from three like Jack Daugherty did the last time these teams played, then maybe it won't matter. But if Bradley can play well for 40 minutes and prevent Walker from having a big game, I think the Braves' chances are good.
MVC Teams have seen enough of his game the last couple years to improve their defenses against him.
His scoring average, rebound average, and FG% are surprisingly all down this season compared to last season. And nobody is conceding the Player of the Year award to him any more as some expected.

He's left handed, and usually will try to go to his left. I am sure our coaches have pounded that into Meta and the other bigs. And although he's listed at 6'0", he is almost exclusively a "below the basket" post player. He gets most of his points by effectively using pivot moves, shot-fakes, and the occasional body slam to get defenders off balance or out of position to enable layups. Our bigs have to avoid jumping at the shot-fakes, move their feet quickly, and try to hold their position against his offensive banging. Some opponents have tried double-teaming him if he begins to dribble, and that might be worth trying occasionally. But he is a good passer and is a close second to Johnny Kinziger for the team lead in assists. He is also the only true big man among the top 25 assists leaders in the MVC.
Meta did a pretty good job defending him last year, so I expect him to be better this year.

For the record- Bradley is just 1-4 this season in games where they were underdogs. The only win was against Liberty. The 4 losses were to St. Bonaventure, San Francisco, Belmont, and Murray State.
And BU is 7-11 against the spread this season (excluding the North Central game).

Love your thoughts - I would only disagree with one thing. Both the eye test for me and the metrics show that Walker is not a back to the basket player primarily. He gets the ball at or near the top of the key often and is a good ball handler to take other big men off the dribble to the basket. On plays classified as rim attack, which are plays where someone drives to the basket from the perimeter, he actually has the highest percentage of plays on the entire team, even more than their guards. You're right he also can be massively effective if he gets a pass in tight around the basket. If Meta and others can push him out some, I've seen him get less effective when he can't just make one move for a layup.
I was worried about Fred King and he was basically a nonfactor when Murray State blew us away because we didn't defend the three. Since we haven't defended the three well all year, we need to pay extra attention to this - heck, even Evansville lit us up from three!

I will say this again you cannot bring in one and done players that at this level are mediocre at best . One cannot guard and the other misses layups consistently. Sure one of them is a good shooter yet he can"t get shots. This game looks a lot like last years game at ISU when we could not guard or make shots. RECRUITING has to be a lot better.Bradley offense looks like a fire drill...defense looks worse!
Turnovers are embarrassing....1 team is ready to play and it's not the Braves...no intensity!

Good point. Don’t understand why bully keeps driving in the lane. They consistently block him and if he’s trying to draw fouls that clearly isn’t working either.Biggest difference is isu has shooters....Bradley just doesn't....period...other than Richardson the Braves have to have lay ups or threes....no in between!
