Games of Interest, Monday 11/23

The ISU-UIC crowd just didn't seem to get into the Quick Change act like the Carver crowd does. BTW, the act still is exactly the same as it has been for the last 15 years, including the cheap Magic-store popup flowers, and disappearing wine trick . Also, the changing-colored-glove in the hat trick didn't work right again.

Illinois State hangs on to win at UIC 69-65.
UIC had a shot to tie in the final seconds, but missed. ISU added 1 FT for the final margin.

Nice win for UNI tonight over Boston College. This was a great way for them to forget the DePaul game in a hurry. Unfortunately, while I did not expect WSU to beat Pittsburgh, I DID expect Ind St. to beat Coastal Carolina. Not good for the Valley, but UNI at least improved their profile and played the way one of the Valley favorites should play.

Now let's hope Bradley and Creighton can pull off a few marquee wins before the conference season starts.

Wichita State gets a crack at Iowa tomorrow to try and drop Iowa to 1-4 on the season. Not sure if it would be a "good" win for WSU, but it would be a loss.

the box score says Kwadzo is 17-18 from the floor and 38 pts..
if accurate, then he is definitely next week's POY!

yeah..funny how the "real" stats differ...but then as I have said before, the Yahoo site is timely but not all that accurate..

in the Sycamore loss to Coastal..I note this puts Coastal Carolina at 4-1..
but check who they have beaten...
College of Charleston, Elon, Voorhees (never heard of them!), and now Indiana State.
Bad loss for the MVC -- and way, way too many such losses already in the season...
And ISU's narrow and unimpressive win over a very weak UIC team also exposes the Valley...

few other comments..
Last night Oregon lost at home, to Montana 68-55...so all that Nike $$ still can't buy them decent players, huh?
Wichita was down double digits early and could never catch up against Pitt. if you take Toure Murry away, they are beatable.

MVC has to show its mid ranked teams can beat up the bottom teams of BCS Conferences whenever possible. If only for publicity and general public opinion of MVC (even though it is a baaaaad Iowa team)

WSU - U of I would be a great place to start.

No trouble scoring tonight for the Shockers. They lead Iowa 44-30 at halftime. Stutz has 16 on 7-8 shooting (two 3-pointers) and Hatch has 13. Tonight they look to be a bit more than Toure' Murry.

The Shockers look really good (even for much of their game with Pitt). To me, they are the team to beat in the Valley this year.
