Goodbye Kentucky - 1 Pretender Down

With Patrick Patterson KY wins this game, and gives Stanford a run for their money. This may be the first year that the SEC is overrated. People rarely mention them as the best conference, but they often have the champions as well as a good number of final fours.

Digger just said that Georgia essentially lost because they "ran out of gas." Digger, I've got news for you ... Xavier was, and still is, the better team.

Hey Digger, answer me this one. How did Georgia all of the sudden "run out of gas" after a four day break, considering they played three games in less than 30 hours over the weekend with no problems?! Explain that one to me Digger!

Amazing!

This was by far the worst loss of the day on my bracket. I chose Kentucky to beat Marquette and go on to beat Stanford in the second round. Oh, well. I guess I didn't get hit too badly, although I can't seem to pick the 8/9 games, as Kent State and BYU both lost.

But the advantage of even a mediocre SEC team is that they have every other SEC team in for a game on their home floor. So naturally they will have a couple wins against good teams. Wouldn't Bradley have won several of those games if the SEC all had to make a trip to Peoria?

How many of those teams visited ISU, or would ever agree to make a visit to ISU? None. And that's why the RPI should be an important factor, because it evens out these discrepancies in schedules.

But as soon as the RPI started favoring the midmajors, suddenly the NCAA doesn't want to put much stock in it.

Ding, Ding, Ding! Da Coach is the winner for the smartest post of the day!;) You are 100% correct DC.

The next time you are having one the tedious agruments with a BCS type, bring this one up and see what they say. And also throw in this question: How many people would BU draw if they had a home slate similar to an SEC or a Big 10 team? And how would that effect our recruiting?

Oh, forget it just use the "eye test." All you have to do is watch'em play on ESPN with the glitz of the production and Erin Andrews roaming the sidelines! They are obviously better!

8/9 games are a crapshoot anyways.
