Hoosier beat reporter from Indianapolis Star believes Wilkins has NOT committed

OK - since I don't do Facebook - someone else check this out...
now the discussion is that Indiana Hooiser Verdell Jones has just become friends on Facebook with John Wilkins in some sort of attempt
to help with the recruiting - even claiming in some way to be working towards that end...

one other premium IU site said
"Indiana continues to hotly pursue 6-foot-9, junior college forward John Wilkins, the Belgian native now at Southeastern Iowa.
Sources (say..) that Hoosier coach Tom Crean flew out to Burlington, Iowa on Wednesday to scout Wilkins. We also hear that
his recent visit to Bloomington went well. A visit to Illinois State, his father's alma mater, was planned after the IU trip and that
likely be his last trip. Bradley is still a potential player, and the Braves had a scholarship open up a few days ago."

yep they are friends on FB...not sure about it being a recruiting ploy.... ;) also Bobby Capobianco is one as well....full court press :)

He's also friends with Sammy Maniscalco, Theron Wilson, Dodie Dunson, Will Egolf, David Collins, Osiris Eldridge.

I still don't see an option to add him as a friend

He also has basketball players from all levels and all parts of the country. From the activity that I have seen during the past few weeks, I imagine that JW has been getting hounded by people from different schools. He obviously has an important decision coming up and is limiting his outside exposure I am sure.

THIS IS NOT GOOD.

John has officially "unfriended" me and others who I believe were his friends at one time....those being affliated with Bradley.

He remains friends with some of the basketball players......

I think that this is not a good sign.

Maybe you're just not cool enough FWO;)

does this mean I AM cool? :-)

John has a BIG decision to make...hope the best for him.....it will be interesting to see how this all pans out and how he does....wherever that may be...

What's happening is really more a result of Indiana being unable to land anyone...and I mean ANYONE!
Not that they aren't trying - as Tom Crean is a tireles recruiter, flying all over the nation with Indiana's nearly unlimited budget offering just about anyone and their mother!
Every top player with more than one leg or one eye is being offered by Tom Crean, and most have passed and said they don't want to come to Indiana while they are still so weak
and rebuilding, and they don't want to come play on a team where walk ons get big time minutes and there's a real shortage of significant talent...

That said -- with names already on their roster like Tijan Jobe, Bawa Muniru, Bobby Capobianco, Daniel Moore, IU keeps offering some of even the most obscure guys like Victor Oladipo (IU beat out James Madison, VCU, UMass, etc..), and Will Yeguette (battling Sam Houston State, St. John's) - all athletic specimens... but guys who likely will not be able to hit a FG or a jump shot against Big Ten defenses.

So when Crean has struck out with every one of the 150 different guys he's offering ahead of Wilkins....and when there's virtually nobody left in the 2010 class that is even higher than 1/2-Star.
..then, and only then will John Wilkins finally be handed a solid offer from Indiana, and I suspect he'll take it .......

So are you telling me basically JW is going to Indiana? Or is there a chance Crean actually signs one of these other guys?

t, reading back on some of your most recent posts here, I believe you have either learn/known or have come to terms (like others here) that he was not coming:!: Your recent posts, almost come across to me as if you were preparing the site viewers/posters for the day JW officially signs with someone other than BU:| But to me, for the last year and half, JW has shown and done nothing that indecated he was still coming:badgrin:

How about JW with anyone but BU???? If you have a scoop T, let us in on it.

Agreed. It's obvious that Wilkins has eliminated BU. That's OK, though. We really need "that big" more. Someone who is exceptionally strong and equally physical ;)
