Indiana State writer can't believe Sycamores are picked behind Bradley

Why they rated BU 6th:

1.No one remembers AW
2.Will who?
3.Taylor B is no where near TW.....

Why we won't finish 6th:

1. AW brings back memories :)
2. Will stays healthy and is a rebounding machine...
3. Taylor shows they were right (kinda) and exceeds the play of TW....

just more predictions :)

ding ding ding!

We've gotta remember that we don't have the "transferring in a BCS player effect"

...and that two of our likely starters are coming back from injury. If those go sour, or below average anyway, we could be 6th. But if they do what they did before they were injured, at least... we'll be fine :)

Don't forget another potential starter didn't play a ton last year (but showed flashes, especially in Brazil)... to the media/coaches, thats three starters that are "unproven" -- only EM and SM are probably considered "locks" to be great according to these guys.

Let them all eat it when we outperform these expectations. Let the negativity roll... because even if things happen for the worse... we'll do "as expected" ;)

Just to throw this out there, but Indiana State will kill every one in their path to a MVC title this year!!

I like your optimism..but this reminds me like deja-vu of numerous comments I heard at the Valley Tournament in March of 2008.

The seats we had were just a little towards the end line, so we stepped across the aisle and sat just to the BU bench's side of mid court about 7 rows up in a section that was totally well-to-do Sycamore fans.
They were very polite and pleasant, especially compared to the behavior of a bunch of maroon-clad fans back across the aisle where we came from
(who cursed and moaned and even called their AD over to have us expelled from our rightful owned seats because they didn't want any Bradley red near their package seats.)

Anyway, as the InSU fans talked on and on they were bubbling with enthusiasm and were 100% sure their team would be a factor the following year (2008-2009 when InSU finished just out of last place) and might even contend for the title...but at the absolute minimum they are all sure that InSU would surprise everyone...and I can even recall several precise reasons they were so sure...
--their coach would be lots, lots better since he'd had a year to get his feet wet.
--he'd have more of his own players
--The single most notable belief was that superstud in the paint, Isiah Martin would develop into the dominant post player in the Valley and build upon his great freshman year
--incoming freshman (at that time) Carl Richard was not only good enough to start, but he'd be All-Valley and lead the conference in scoring
--The other younger players like Carter, Printy, and Leitnaker would all develop into some of the best at their positions
--and lastly they were sure Indiana State was about to land an NBA caliber center...I think they were talking about Josh Crawford who verballed a few weeks later.

I am appalled as a BU fan at the lack of respect we have gotten by being picked 6th , I hope our players remember this before each and every game this season as a reminder that most of the teams they will be playing in the conf. do not think they are a good team, hopefully they will post this on the locker room door so they can see this before they go out onto the court as a reminder to do some a-- kicking.

wow...I've said in the past I don't see a top 3 finish. I admit that I think it could happen if a few things bounce our way, but if we do not beat InSU this season...then wow.

Man I hope we win the valley. Shove some people's face in it lol.

Thanks for being polite, even if it is in an effort to troll for a reaction from partisan BU fans.:D

But if Indiana State wins the MVC, I will be happy to wash and wax your car, isusycs23!

That's what I said in another thread....
I say JL should make every single player carry this poll around with them everyday from now until the end of the season. I would also enlarge it into a poster and put it up in the offices and the locker room. The players need a constant reminder of just what the rest of the league thinks of them!

To be honest only ONE really did anything before they got injured. The other showed some flashes but to put his impact based on past performances with the other isn't a true comparison.

AW has shown us what he can do...WE really hasn't. Not saying he won't we just really don't know what he's going to give us.

To ME...he's the X factor.

I'll help.

Did you not go to Florida last year?

Because the game against Gulf Coast Will proved exactly what he can do.

This year will be his long awaited continuation of his coming out party

Yeah, thats a slap in the face as far as I'm concerned....

A big number 6 should be posted up in the locker room, on the door outside the locker room, and somewhere in the arena near the court.

Never forget that THIS is what the media from around the league thinks of our team and has forgotten all about Will and Andrew and how great this team will be!

I see the quotes got a little messed up in that post...I'm with you, here, SLB. Although I didn't go to Florida last year either, I agree with you completely here. At least I hope its a continuation, because I think WE can be pretty darn good!!

One game does not a player make... I am as optimistic about BU this year as anyone, but this unbridled faith in Will is a little bit premature. His only real game came against Florida Golf Coast University... Hardly the quality of a Valley school, they finished 11-20 last year, and thats in a very lowly conference. I hope Will is a great player, but basing his play this year off of one game is short-sided IMO, I think we'll be more likely to see a big contribution out of TB than WE, I hope I'm wrong, but it's just my thought...

Nothing there to argue about! I'm really hoping we will get a lot out of AT myself. This is after all his 3rd year with us!

Yeah, but he did play well the next two games against Richmond and then again against ETSU before going down with the knee injury.

All I said was to expect him to have a big year, whats so wrong about that?

I think most of us who can see talent can recognize the difference between players who should be on the floor and players who shouldn't (not to dig at last years center)

Will is one of those who should be out there and will prove it apparently to you among others

Bottom line: Will W. Egolf be better than what we had last year?

(Hint: I think I saw him walking and chewing gum once during warm-ups;) )

In the Richmond game and the first thirty minutes of the ETSU game, the offense moved again. It looked like the offense from the previous two years. It could have been the opponents (Richmond gave up 67.5ppg & ETSU 70.1ppg). I don't think it was a coincidense that the Braves shot over 50% and scored 80 points in back to back games with Egolf playing half the game.

Will Egolf isn't going to put up big stats, but he seemed to know what he was doing on the court.
