Indiana State writer can't believe Sycamores are picked behind Bradley

In the Richmond game and the first thirty minutes of the ETSU game, the offense moved again. It looked like the offense from the previous two years. It could have been the opponents (Richmond gave up 67.5ppg & ETSU 70.1ppg). I don't think it was a coincidense that the Braves shot over 50% and scored 80 points in back to back games with Egolf playing half the game.

Will Egolf isn't going to put up big stats, but he seemed to know what he was doing on the court.

Gosh I wonder why ;-)

Someone in the lineup isn't like the other one

I said it before they ever played for Bradley, but Egolf was the one I was most looking forward to seeing in his recruiting class that included Maniscalco and Thompson.

Three years later and I'm still looking forward to it!

Just curious what others think...

Is the AW + WE combo we gain this year equal to, less than or greater than the TW + DC combo we lost to graduation?

I think the majority of us think a healthy AW + WE combo or even TB + WE is going to be at least equivalent in points, rebounds and defensive presence.

I completely agree with this! Don't forget, all of the newcomers (Roberts, Dunson, McCain, Brown) have a year in the system now and should be even better together! Even JP has worked out with the team over the past couple summers. I'm very much looking forward to this group with a healthy AW and WE!

I really dont look at losing DC as to big of an issue, yes he did alter shots had a few highlight games but overall his game was way below expectations. TW had some very good overall numbers but and this is just my opinion his overall game hurt this team often last season, especially his turnovers, terrible shooting and his overall ball handling/decision making with the ball. That being said his intensity will be missed early but it will be forgotten with the combination play of TB Roberts and Warren.

I truely believe even if Egolf does not contribute, this team will be very solid with Warren, SM, Roberts, EM, SS, TB and anything from a freshman... there is to much game experience for this team to just roll over.

I really think those who do the predictions are not looking enough at the number of games/minutes this team returns, especially at the 1. And lets face it that is where games often are won in the Valley with guards who handle the ball and make decisions.

I think AT may play into the equation this year too and as many have said on here, we know exactly what we are going to get from SS in size, experience and leadership.

Here's my (not so) bold prediction that, Kool-aide or not, I think BU is going to make their move to the top of the MVC this year ! OK there I said it - LOL.

Interesting Q. Do we have a better year last year if TW and DC got injured instead of AW and WE? I think that is quite possible.

AW's outside, shooting and driving game can certainly replace most of TW on O, but defensivey comparing a 2(or 3) to a 4 is difficult. If it were not for TB, I would be very worried about losing TW.

so... I would say that TB + WE > TW+DC.
AW will bring a ton to the guards, and better guards will make the bigs better, but AW is not a big man..

Yeah....AT has a couple years in the system now too. I just hope he shows some intensity to go with his athleticism. Any positive minutes from AT will go a long way toward helping BU achieve their goal of winning this season!

I come in peace!

I come in peace!

Hi,
I am said writer. I wasnt really trying to dog on your guys school but really trying to get ISU fired up,explosively of course. I have no idea how that word ended up in there so many times. I know you guys are basing most of your thoughts on last years Sycamores, but I know these guys I workout in the same facility as them, I have seen them practice and they are finally a Valley worthy team. This team is leaps and bounds better than last years team and I cant remember the exact time of the year last year but I do not believe we played you guys when we really started playing our basketball last year. I am hoping for some great games and anybody who makes the trek from peoria should join me at the bally after the game!

Thanks for your thoughts. As you can see, MVC basketball gets quite partisan. Everyone's opinions are worth about the same amount at this early point. We happen to think Indiana State has a lot more to prove than Bradley does as far as preseason rankings go, but to each his own opinion.

Yes, apparently unless you're a Redbird, Bluejay, or Saluki fan...they seem to assume their opinions are worth more...especially the punks from Omaha

woah woah cujo!!!!

woah woah cujo!!!!

first off.......The ballyhoo is the bar thats like just north of the Hulman Center its really the place to hit up before or after a game...secondly, I didnt come over to whine, hell I really dont honestly have much to brag about except for our potential which in the past has ALWAYS been great...this is the first team I truly feel will go beyond its potential and do well.....I look at it this way......two of your rivals are Illinois State and Southern Illinois......The enemy of my enemy is my friend???

Good point you make there.

Also, T, I was more so talking about my experiences the last few years at the tournament in St. Louis.

The ISU fans were good to us last year simply because they wanted us to beat UNI because they thought they had zero chance to beat them.

The SIU fans were bad as always, but not quite as bad as during the championship game a few years back.

The Creighton fans, well, let me just put it this way. Someone needs to tell them that the beer in Scottrade is for everyone in the arena and nowhere is there a sign that says "All you can drink" or a sign that says, "Get hammered, act like an *****, make an *ss out of yourself".

The Indiana State, Drake, and UNI fans were the class of the tournament. I can't really speak on the Evansville or Missouri State fans because they've been pretty non-existent there the last few years.

I am a former football player at ISU and I just thought I would say MIZZOu state fans are ruthless man...I had several drinks thrown on me at those games and it was cold sooooooo thanks for the flu missouri state lol

You had an issue with CU fans? I always found them to be among the best in attendance, along with WSU fans. I would assume InSU fans would be good, I know a lot of them, but I can honestly say I rarely run into them as they usually are out on Thursday... But people in Terre Haute are generally polite, especially those who grew up there... ;)

Yeah, considering 60-70% of the Creighton pop. were students and 90-95% of those were belligerently drunk...

Most if not all drank heavily before they got to the arena and then drank more while there...

I remember walking through the concourse and they were all lined up to go into the student section. Well, just let me say that I've never seen so many ppl falling all over each other and stumbling around...and then I get the 4 letter obscenities from a group of twenty right in front of a bunch of small children...

Very classy...

Wierd that our experiences are so different... :/

Most students are going to drink in an atmosphere like that. As recent grad, in my experience, CU students are no where near as bad as SIU, ILSU, or MSU students. Students usually end up at similar places for evening activities and I have yet to run into a CU student who p*ssed me off, I rarely run into and SIU or ILSU student who hasn't...
