ISU scrimmage

One line from that story was interesting...
"The 6-7, 240-pound Lewis showed an ability to get inside and move opponents around in the scrimmage"

hmm..."move opponents around"??
--so pushing Blake Mishler around was pretty impressive, huh???
.......there was once a time when pushing and shoving was actually called as a foul... ;)

Also...a review of the stats shows that in the 28 minutes of scrimmaging, the players took a total of 95 shots...that's a 136 shot-per-40 minute pace...
or roughly a shot by someone every 17 seconds for the entire 28 minutes!
so it looks like they're going to try to shoot and put up some numbers....but I wonder if that's what Coach Jank really wants....just gunning and launching within 17 seconds every offensive possession? (gotta recall that in an intrasquad scrimmage, 2/3 of the defenders are non-starters and 1/3 are such deep bench players and walk ons that it won't be the least bit representative of what they'll see when they actually face a D-I opponent - which of course doesn't actually happen until like late December!)

Of their returning guys, only Phillips, OE, and Dinma seemed to be playing well... and of course just about everyone agrees those guys are the likely starters unless someone gets a DUI.
But Rubin, the guy with the most returning experience among the rest was 0-6 in 24 minutes with one assist. (speaking of assists, King O managed to get one).

Of the rest of the experienced and returning players, Jeremy Robinson was 2-8 but Kellen Thornton did OK with 5-8 (10 pts)..
So who's gonna be Dinma's backup?? I'm going out on a limb and say the job is going to be split between Lewis, Thornton, Carmichael, and JRob (with two bigs in the game a lot of the time)...and whoever is most consistent will get the bigger minutes.
Austin Hill will probably get good minutes, especially given their shortage at PG.
I didn't see the scrimmage, but I can only surmise that Jon Ekey is the most likely R-S candidate...
he played 14 minutes and was 0-2, 1 pt, and his aforestated forte of blocking shots was not seen as he had 2 reb, no assists, and no blocks.

Overall, their minutes in the open/closed/public scrimmage went like this...
(per the box score)
Upshaw 28
A. Hill 25
Rubin 24
Lewis 24
Thornton 22
Phillips 21
Odiakosa 20
Eldridge 19
Terry Johnson 16
Ekey 14
Carmichael 13
Coates 11
Robinson 10+
Mishler 8
Trey Blue 27 minutes & 1 pt. (so why does a guy who isn't even going to play get so many scrimmage minutes?)

Obsess much? That's a lot of analysis and effort to make the Birds look bad based off of an early season practice. I'm sure they are headed for a last place finish after skimming your report. Hope it was worth your time.

It was just an opinion so you can take it for what its worth and disregard it if you want.

I don't understand why you people and yes i said YOU PEOPLE continue to care enough to come on this board just to make a statement like that.

If you're gonna come on here, as Jim Rome would say, have a take and don't suck! Obviously you don't have that part down yet...

At least give an explanation why he is wrong or what you determined from it...

Not just oh you're wrong, you're spending too much time assessing another team's value based on your opinion...blah blah blah...

Come strong or don't come at all:!:

I'm sure Bradleys intrasquads probably look similar. Don't worry. We will settle this issue on the court soon enough.
AGREED

i think everyone is jonesing for some hoops at this point. i think both fans of both teams see potentially a good season for both. It's been too long since both teams were good at the same time. seems we finally have that now

That statement is absolutely not true. I rarely see an opposing teams point of view deleted. There is no hiding the fact if you decide to disparage anything to do with BU, then yes it will be deleted. It is not a mystery that this board is PRO BU. Often an opponents point of view is welcomed and often that person is welcomed to the board and asked questions.

But I will tell you if I went on to the ISU board and made a statement regarding a critique of a BU scrimage I am certain I would not be given the same courtesy you are given.. IE you were not cussed or told you were a fool etc. Go to the SIU board and say something anything about their program and see how you are treated.

This board is much more fair and allowing towards other teams then any other board run by individuals who support one program.

I'm predicting another home split for the birds and braves this season. They'll be good ones.

Looks like some of the fans at isu disagree......since some of them have been saying for a couple weeks now that this is the year they sweep us. I can't wait to see if their team impresses me more than they did last year, when they were the mighty undefeated redbirds.

Hmmm...must be getting close to basketball season...cause up until reading this, I almost forgot how much I hate ISU, their fans, and everything they stand for  Can't wait to pound them to a pulp:D

I know it's a heated rivalry, but what is it exactly that ISU "stands for" that you hate? That doesn't make much sense.

you know...if I ever do read what's said on the Bluejay board or ISU or SIU...it's really only to find out if they have more issues, player defections, DUI's etc...
and NEVER, NEVER do I ever read what they are saying and whining about other teams, least of what they think or say about BU or BradleyFans..
In other words...nothing they say about us really matters a hill of beans to me and I absolutely do NOT care...I never read it..

BUT note the contrast...
BradleyFans is the very FIRST place in cyberspace with tons of great reports and news..things like new commits, the JW story, even the results of other games...there's lots of great topics here for those outside fans if they want to dicsuss something intelligent....

yet what do all those other fans ALWAYS come over here and debate about??

yup, the only thing they ever seem focused and obsessed about is what we say about BU, about ISU, and about their teams..they simply cannot handle us having an opinion that differes from theirs!!

It's the only thing they care about...they are soooo obsessed with what we say and what we think...they have such seriously thin skins that even if we simply mention one of their DUI's or one of the player arrests or kids who are sent packing, they go absolutely berserk and come over here and attack on and on for days..

Can someone explain this phenomenon?? Can anyone offer an answer why they are so obsessed with what we say and think and feel such an ugency to attack us for our opinions and try to force us to change our minds??
Are they so lacking in things to talk about like real games and player topics, that they start entire threads on their boards to discuss what it is that we are talking about or posting about?

In a way I guess I feel complimented that we occupy such a huge part of their lives and such an important part of their daily conversation....
geez...just what would they have left to talk about if they didn't grumble about our posts over there on their boards and com eover here to whine about what we think?

As a corollary, has anyone ever seen even a single post by a Bradley fan who goes onto their boards to take up a fight against what they say?? Of course not, why would any BU fan really care?? It's their board, let 'em think and say what they want no matter how absurd it is...including the thread where they don't seem to even know there's a difference between USI and Indianapolis University, and the threads that claim Sead Odzic was a tremendous 3-pt shooter.

Why don't you ask the posters over on Redbirdfan who show such hatred, vitriol, and jealousy toward Bradley, or who go by screennames such as *uck*******? What seems to make little sense to you exists 100 times more there.
