ISU ended up losing the game to Murray State 73-70. So Muller's phony "suspensions" did not end up helping him.
Deontae Hawkins was said to be "suspended" after his arrest for multiple charges, including DUI, driving on a suspended license, and transporting an open liquor container. Yet his faux "suspension" apparently was lifted before he missed a single game or practice, and he ended up playing a game-high 37 minutes in tonight's game. And the other sham-suspended player, D.J. Clayton, played 25 minutes, more than double the playing time than anyone else off the ISU bench, and way more than all the other reserves combined.
I am not surprised, as I did predict with precise accuracy that this suspension was a sham, and that Hawkins would start and play as usual. It would be expecting too much to see the sycophantic Pantagraph writers call him out on sham suspensions, and expect some real discipline for all the the lawbreakers on his roster and the numerous arrests and legal issues. Apparently, they need to rape a child before Muller actually enforces any discipline, and even then, as in the Bobby Hill case, he reluctantly acted only when there was an actual guilty plea.
