Jaquan Johnson

Reink Mast on the list....oh what could have been!!
Love Rienk obv, but he's a strange inclusion here. One could easily argue his breakout year was with us. I guess his knee surgery last year erased him from sportswriters brains? I could pick 3 Nebraska players more deserving of the label. Fantastic year for Rienk though - anyone who pays attention to college basketball isn't surprised in the slightest

omg a game tying 3 with 4 sec left!

Bradley's all time best single season made three point shots
1- Jeremy Crouch 118
2- Aaron Zobrist 90
tie- Alex Huibregtse 90
4- Duke Deen 88
tie- Will Franklin 88
tie- Nate Kennell 88
7- Hersey Hawkins 87

Jaquan now with 78 steals - 5th all tme
Alex now takes over 2nd place all time with 92 made threes this season

Jaquan ties at #9 with 80 steals on the season

Jaquan really should get Larry Bird POY award. He just did everything and Braves finished 2nd in the league.
Nevertheless probably the 1st time we've had a chance since AP took the award in 1996 for BU.

If anyone still had Drake's Jalen Quinn in the hunt for Player of the Year, just check his stat line today...
taking lots of shots but shooting poorly, 4 turnovers, & his team loses by 22 at home on Senior Day
to a team that's only 2 slots ahead of them in the standings

The two things Lundblade has going that might favor him - plays for the 1st place team & he's a senior
Everything else goes Jaquan's way -all the stats, leadership, chemistry, clutch, & all around player (Lundblade is one-dimensional)

and believe it or not, Jaquan is a BETTER 3-point shooter!
Here's the numbers-
Johnson, Jaquan - BRAD .409 <--
Lundblade, Tyler - BEL .408

Agreed JJ lifted a team believed to be a middle conference team to the 2 seed and played both sides of the ball

I really hope Bully stays but being up for player of the year I think it’ll be tough. Only thing holding him back is due to his height similar to Duke Deen.

Burch will be gone.

I hope Wheeler stay, might be tough coming from Texas. But he would be a key returner.

I think Timo, Yu, Richardson and Zobrist stay. Out of that, I don’t have much confidence with the transfer portal and NIL.

Spoke with him at the Spaghetti Dinner and he said he doesn't mind being far from home. He also has his good friend/teammate Jackson from the same HS. I think he's had a fantastic experience in Year 1 on the Hilltop, so hopefully that, along with some great bonds with teammates, aids his decision to stay.

yeah
cant imagine too many big schools are gonna make big $ offers to a 5-9 reserve, but who knows...

One guy I kinda feel very likely to be gone from the MVC next year is Roman Domon. He has no ties to Kentucky nor even to the US.
He was a top player at the pro level for four years in France and almost certainly could have stayed there and earned $100K-
so you know he came here because of the NIL he's getting at Murray State. Almost certainly someone is gonna offer him
3 or 4 times that much and he'll be gone. Any P-5 coach scouting him sees that he's talented & that he's much of their whole offense.
Belmont's Orme, Scharnowski, Dillon, UIC's Johnson, Valpo's Pettigrew & Evansville's Moeller are also all guys
I don't expect to see in the MVC next year.

Alex finishes the tournament with 98 made three's- solidly in 2nd place for season best...
Jaquan finishes with 85 steals, one shy of Dyricus Simms-Edwards' 2012-13 total of 86 - the best season total in Bradley's history

I think the tournament sealed that JJ would struggle at the P4. Maybe some A10 team will throw him money.

Yep...BU will improve if we keep Bully and 3 of these 4:
Timo
Tana
Burch
Kai Yu

Gotta get a shooter to replace Alex and a Center.

Regarding Jaquan, I hope Bradley does everything possible to keep him! He probably will get some offers, but because of his size, those offers may be ones Bradley could match or come close! I would think he would want to stay as the undisputed leader of the team! So I don't believe the Money is everything! I hope I'm correct! My question to Coach is if we can afford to pay coach Wardle a high 6 figure salary which I believe I'm correct or close, why can't we find the same money to keep Jaquan if we have to? If he's offered a million somewhere else, maybe I'm Nieve, but if we're close to matching that, he will surely stay!!!!

Remember the school doesn't pay the player's

The schools funnels a portion of the money from ticket sales to the players, using the logic that the paying public attends that games, in part, to see the "likeness" of the players, and thus that is considered allowable NIL payment.

My understanding is that this falls under revenue sharing, not NIL:

The NIL has to be what the original intent was, for them to do ads, cards, and autographs. There is going to be a monitor on NIL now.

So we have BU players writing Hallmark greeting cards now for NIL? ;) Can one of them send a "Get Better Soon" card to ISU players?

Jaquan ends the season with 85 steals, one shy of Bradley’s all time single season record held by Dyricus Simms-Edwards

Alex Huibregtse ends with 103 made 3-pointers, comfortably in 2nd place all time for single season made 3’s

Very good season for both of them
