No, not a BU dunk.....but the hopes that BU would start strongly in turning things around this season..... :(

The game was so distressing, T has been up half the night posting on every 'negative' thread/post to try and lift our spirits.

Re suggestions to try something different at BU, whether coaching or system, and the fear/resistance to such change, recall:

"To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often." :!:

‘Never in the field of college basketball has so much been lost to so many by so few.’ ;-);-);-)

hey -- we shot nearly 50% and scored 80 -- it's hard to look at the stats and then try to reconcile with the game we played..
Clearly we have to play better defense and "keep them off the line"..
But -- I'll take 80 points we only did it twice (non-OT games) during the regular season last year and 3 times the year before..
Gotta play D and keep 'em off the line -- these guys know how to so let's do it..

Thanks for the laugh AZ. Maybe we need this pep talk as well:doubt::idea:

We shall defend our home court, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight at the arena, we shall fight at the Civic Center, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hilltop; we shall never surrender.

Sorry Winston,... It's early but I need a couple of shots of whiskey!

You talk about Kaboom:mad: The whole F---ing day was Kaboom:mad:
It all started at the Dunkin D's where I get my coffee EVERY MORNING! They know me, know the size and the way I like it, they forgot the sugar:mad: Then the Illini give one away in two over times:mad: Then I bet $50 on horse racing (witch I NEVER DO) on a horse that had never lost (19-0) and she loses by a nose:roll: Then I am going to the BU game and hit a f---ing deer with my Volkswagen, Touareg:mad: Then I hear about the lost, how bad we played and the coach still blaming the players:roll:
Then I read on here where fans are more worried about what songs the band is playing or should be playing and how the students don't show up for a free night out to watch their team play:rolleyes: At this point, I don't give a **** what the band plays or that students who didn't show up, ever show up! Our concern should be the product thats taking the floor:!: Lets get to the CC where the majority/real of fans show up! Not a knock on the student's who do care! Oh why the way, would it be to much to ask, if BU could send one of those emtry/half emtry Buses to pick up Old OoB and give me a ride to the CC? I'll show UP:!: Geeeeeeeeeeee's

It is going to be a very long season if we have three players fouling out every game and two more players playing with four fouls.

I did think DD and JP were quite efficient in their play last night. WL fouled out in just 18 minutes, but he is a freshman and he was also quite productive in that amount of time.

T - I am with you. I really feel there is no reason to get our undies all in a bunch over a preseason game. I think folks need to realize that these "low life" D11 teams are a lot closer to the level of talent at D1 than we would like to belief (especially basketball skills). Just because you can run a little faster and jump higher does not make for a better basketball player.

This could actually be very positive for our coaches and players... adjustments and changes. The lesson: you better come and play every night or you will lose.

I have a feeling we will be much improved with our next outing. If we look miserable 5 games into the season well then everyone can get their undies as bunched as they want...

Agree. Until next Friday our record is still 0-0.

I think it's a good thing I was busy last night... I didn't see the game, but I am not too worried, nor am I entirely hopeful. I've been expecting 3rd-4th all pre-season, that's not changed now. We'll see how the season goes. I maintain we're an entirely different team with SM, and to some degree without TB. We still should have handled Quincy with no problem, but missing your senior leader is going to have a huge negative effect.

2 guys played 16 minutes last night and here our their stats:
0-1 from the field
0 rebounds even though they are 6-10 and 6-8
0 points
4 fouls
2 turnovers
1 steal
How do you put up these kind of stats against a d-2 opponent and call yourselves d-1 players?

I have met my satirical/creative/parody match Bennie....Outstanding...

Let me add:

The 2010-11 BU Basketball Season

"To form a basketball team of this scale and complexity is a serious undertaking in itself, but it must be remembered that we are in the preliminary stage of one of the greatest battles in history, that we will be in action at many points in the US and in the MVC, that we have to be prepared at Southern ILL, that the battle of the boards is continuous and that many preparations have to made here at home. In this crisis I hope I may be pardoned if I do not address the members of this Forum at any length today. I hope that any of my friends and colleagues, or former colleagues, who are affected by the BU basketball program, will make all allowance for any lack of ceremony with which it has been necessary to act. I would say to the posters, as I said to those who have joined this Forum without posting: "BU players have nothing to offer but their blood, toil, tears and sweat."

We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and playing. You ask, What is our policy? I will say; "It is to win basketball games, by shooting, by defense and by rebounding, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us: to wage competition against monstrous tyrannies, never surpassed in the dark lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy."

You ask, What is our aim? I can answer with one word: Victory - victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival (for Coach Les)."

" ...We shall not flag nor fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in Omaha and in Bloomington and in Cedar Falls and Wichita; we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength on the floor??¦.We shall never surrender and even if, which I do not for the moment believe, the starting team is subjugated and trailing, then our team on the bench, armed and motivated, will carry on the struggle until in God's good time the BU 2010-11 team, with all its power and might, sets forth to the liberation and rescue of the MVC Regular Season Title and MVC Tournament Trophy."

"What General Cross called the Battle of of the Exhibition is over. I expect that the Battle of the Regular Season is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Coach Les. Upon it depends our own Bradley fan base and the long continuity of our institutions and our program. The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us now. Opposing coaches know that they will have to break us on the court or lose the game.

If we can stand up to them, all BU nation may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the whole world, including the BradleyFans.com posters, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age, made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the need for a new Coach.

Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the BU Empire and its Basketball Program last for a thousand years, men will say, "This season was their finest hour."

To me the most distressing thing is not the loss. I could care less about that in an exhibition game.

What I find more distressing is JL's comments about the guys not buying into the defensive scheme. I don't like to hear that.

That has been his excuse after just about every loss, before he said we have been practicing great and everything going well then we lose and he never says maybe we are not installing the correct defensive principles or techniques and need to change some so that our players do not leave there man wide open , shooting 3"s against our defense is like shooting freethrows, no one there to guard you and the thing that bgothers me the most is this has been going on for several seasons and nothing has been done to change it.

I agree with you:) But am not like you, in that I am worried because there is something wrong:!: To have a coach calling out his players and a senior/experienced team play that bad this early in the season is not the right way to get started:? But missing Sam is still NO EXCUSE for that bad showing against that team and at home:? Better get it figure out fast:!:

Sorry to hear about that OOB. The main thing is that you were lucky and healthy enough to walk away from the accident in good shape!
