Got bored at in a meeting so I scribbled this into my notebook... Starting to look to next year now that our season is over. Just based it on what I saw in the CBI and some other assumptions.

Minutes by position (Minutes in parentheses, starter listed first)

1 - Maniscalco (24), Dunson (10), McCain (4), Cole-Scott (2)
2 - Warren (24), Dunson (10), Roberts (4), Maniscalco (2)
3 - Wilson (28 ), Roberts (6), Egolf (5), Warren (4)
4 - Austin (15), Thompson (10), Egolf (6), Wilson (5), Singh (4)
5 - Thompson (15), Collins (11), Austin (10), Singh (4)

Minutes by player

Wilson - 30
Warren - 28
Maniscalco - 26
Austin - 25
Thompson - 25
Dunson - 20
Collins - 11
Egolf - 11
Roberts - 10
Singh - 8
McCain - 4
Cole-Scott - 2

I'm not sure TCS has the ball-handling skills for playing the 1, but I also realize you have him penciled in only for 2 mpg.

Hopefully AT will be ready to start right away.

Starters
Sam
Dodie
Warren
Wilson
Thompson

Bench (In order of depth)
Roberts
Collins
Egolf
Singh
Cole-Scott
Austin
McCain

I wondered the same thing.

Also, with Dodie and SamMan likely to share PG duties and AW capable of fitting in, is there any chance McCain will get redshirted?

Well, I would like to think a 6'7" 250 lb power forward could find time in our weak front line, but the CBI sure didn't indicate as much. While he showed some flashes early on, overall Austin played smaller than his large body, and quite frankly couldn't catch the basketball. With the growth that DC showed, and the anticipated improvements of AT and WE (2 guys who our future is based on), I am not sure that Austin will be any higher than 9th or 10th on the totem pole. I think Singh gives you more than him, as does DC, and AT and WE are our future. But that's just based on this year. Next year is a long ways away.

No one thinks Ryan Thornton will play at all next year? This is surprising to me, I thought from what I had heard he would be a contributor?

That is a good question. My other question would be is McCain that bad that he only gets 4 minutes a game. From all that I have read and heard about this young man is that he can contribute right away. I see him playing about the same minutes as SamMan next year. Could be wrong but he sounds like he may be a freashman DR or even better then that next year. The guy can can really go and can create. Only time will tale

No, I don't. If he's a significant contributor than we'll be contending with Evansville for the basement. Hopefully by his senior year he can fill some sort of role, but right now he shouldn't be on anyone's radar as far as playing time or contributions are concerned.

I'm pretty encouraged by our chances based on who's coming back and how well some of these players stepped up during our late season and CBI run. I think a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised how well we will do next year. I did not have that feeling this year with all of the new faces and JUCO's that came into the program. But next year I think will be very different with a strong showing in the Valley.

Sam M. 30 minutes
Warren 30 minutes
Theron 30 minutes
Dunson 24 minutes
Roberts 20 minutes
McCain 10 minutes
Egolf 20 minutes
Thompson 12 minutes
Collins 12 minutes
Singh 6 minutes
Austin 6 minutes

Thornton 0 minutes. Cole Scott 28 minutes for Mankato State :)

BB... Why?

He played in 29 games as a freshman at UWM, not a ton of minutes but he has one year of division 1 experience along with one year of development in his body and in JL's system.

That is 2 more years then both Roberts and McCain combined. JL shows he will play JUCO and freshmen but he has also shown that he will sit them if they are not ready to play both mentally and physically. People are giving minutes to players who have never played a second of Divison 1 and have never played for JL, the only JUCO that I can think of who walked in and got minutes immediately was Wilson. Everyone else has had sparatic minutes at best, especially early.

I am not convinced that there will be huge minutes available to McCain or Roberts. But everything will depend on who stays healthy, works hard and is ready to compete everyday.

As of now, I would regard Thornton's status as a wild card for next year. He has the shot, but needs to prove that he can compete at this level to earn minutes.

Couldnt that statement be said the same for Roberts, Thompson, Egolf and McCain? The difference is Thornton has put on a Divison 1 uniform played in games and has gone through two years of practice at this level.

I have no clue what type of a player Thorton is, could be or will be but 6'7 shooters who have experience and have sophomore status and a juniors experience both mentally and physically can not be dismissed without some consideration to playing time.

But then again Roberts and McCain might be so athletic and better basketball wise everything about Thornton means nothing simply because everyone else is better.

He's a walk-on, and a walk-on for a reason. That automatically puts him behind anyone who we have used time, money, and other resources on to get to come to school here.

In regards to McCain/Roberts - I don't see McCain playing at all next year, but I see Roberts getting a few minutes based on his size and athleticism. I don't see any of our newcomers getting big minutes because of how much we have returning, and I don't see us needing to rely on them for big minutes either.

I agree walkons generally are not viewed as players who get minutes, but Danny Adams was a walk on and played plenty.

I find it though very difficult to know who will or wont see the floor next season on a day in April when the Cubs blow a 7 run lead in Pittsburgh :) I am sure many of us would have not thought Wilson would have done what he did when he signed his letter of intent and many probably believed TCS would take minutes all season.

I love the speculation but to flat out say someone will not see the floor, when that person did play games at the Division 1 level is a bit premature.

RT will see the floor next year and EM will get a lot of minutes! BB you need to settle down....your losing it way too early into next season!

After the obvious three of Wilson, Warren and Maniscalco, I don't have a clue. New guys are always a crapshoot and none of the returning guys did nothing this year to get meaningful playing time when it was available.

I like that we have a lot of people contending to get those minutes. I hope some people emerge over the summer. Bradley needs to get away from this 6 or 7 man rotation if they are going to play effective uptempo basketball.

I do like that BU redshirted a player this year and I would like to see that continue next year.

RT can play at this level and should contribute next season...if nothing else a ZONE BUSTER!
