Matt Roth

Can we not talk about this guy again on this board unless he does something extraordinary or is connected to BU. A lot of you guys look like jilted lovers or something. MR is a decent FRESHMEN player, plays for a school that should have been penalized more but were not, is a local guy but so are some other players and that is about it. This is starting to look like an obsession or worst yet The Enquirer infatuation of Brittney Spears.

I'd say setting a Big Ten record by going 9-11 from three point range is rather extraordinary...especially when a local, bradley recruit does it halfway through his freshman season. Scoring 29 pts is impressive enough on its own...Bradley hasn't had anyone come close to that this year.

I'm with you SFP, who cares? But some obviously do, the hometown posters that are unhappy that he didn't come to Bradley - I wish they would get over it already. I agree with Tornado becaue I think this is the first time I've commented on him, I'm just depressed on how we lost last night so I opened this thread. Let them talk all they want about the kid that did not want to come to Bradley, it makes them feel good - for some reason?

I wish he would have, but he made his decision and is not the first local area kid not to attend BU. I don't care for half the threads, so I don't respond to those, but I don't say "who cares." To each his own.

and no, it is NOT a Big Ten record for most 3-pointers made, it is a Big Ten freshman record for 3-pointers made....

OK, so you're saying it's not a record but you're saying it is a record.

Can you guys add an avatar showing a guy pounding his head against a wall?

I would have never guess that Uwe Blab would have "dropped" that many points at Indiana. It's about 1350 more than Olaf "dropped" at Illinois, that's for sure.

One more tidbit on Matt Roth.

Although he hates losing he absolutely loves it at Indiana and has no intentions of ever leaving that program.

If anybody needs to know how I know this shoot me a PM.

I also have some nothing new news on Bill Cole.

Good for him. Staying committed. I wish more people were like this. I wish him the best and hope he has a stellar career.

Same with Cole. Stay where you committed, work hard, make the best of the opportunity.

Overrated even in high school....We do not need this kid...He is where he wants to be!!

by "overrated" you must mean one of the best pure shooters of anyone ever in the peoria area? i would argue he has the best range in the history of peoria h.s. basketball.

i wonder how serious that injury is from the other night--he was pretty shaken up.

roth could have been a 20 + point scorer @ bradley even this season and may still yet at indiana in the future. he's a better shooter than anyone on the braves now by a long shot.

problem right now is he's a freshman thrown to the wolves on a bad team. he's had trouble getting many looks.

get indiana better next year and in a system where he can come off ball screens/set screens more consistently and he'll light it up. his range is just incredible.

Here's a little IU/Purdue story...dates back 40 years...

Purdue's Rick Mount.........scored 33 point to help Purdue win by 29 points in his first IU-PU game in his career.
Afterward, the IU fans heckled and knocked Rick Mount's mother to the ground...and when Mount heard of it he vowed.....
"Indiana will not beat us while I play for Purdue, and I'll average 40 a game."

Later Mount said...
"Every time I played Indiana," Mount said this week, "I thought of my mom's face in that dirt."

"Mount proceeded to go 5-0 against IU, and 40 years ago this
season, unleashed all his frustrations on the Hoosiers.
The junior scored 40 points and led the Boilermakers to their second-biggest
victory in the rivalry, 120-76 in the final game of the 1968-69 regular season,
a year similar to this one.
Purdue won the Big Ten at 13-1 and went to the Final Four, while IU was last
at 4-10."

I think his averaging 20 points a game this year is a little high, but he sure would have helped our outside game. But our frosh guards, along with Sam M are getting the experience they need to really give us better than average guards for the next few years, IMO.
