Next game- BU at BYU, Friday, Nov. 13

I still say we should throw a lot of zone at them...

Another game they shot below 30% from 3 at home...

The only way we slow up the game is if we can hit our own 3. I'd have to say we will not be playing zone against these guys. My guess is that we will press them a bit and look to create some easy points from steals.

Press?

That would be new....have you ever seen a JL team press? I certainly haven't...(btw, token 1-on-1 man doesn't count)

And yeah, we don't play much zone either, but switching up defenses throughout the game would be smart.

I recall us trying a 1-2-1-1 in JL's first year. It was quickly scrapped when Danny Granger kept picking up fouls at half court. ;)

3 guards...

3 guards...

Exited about the new season, Does anyone know with Warren back if we'll actually start 3 guards?

I think BU pressed a little bit more early on in JL tenure when he had a 6'11" center who was pretty decent defensively in the middle.

Wasn't it a half court trapping defense that went back to MTM or some zone past half court?

With the graduation of Zach, haven't had a big defensive stopper in the middle of the back court which lets the rest of the players gamble and press up front.

It wouldn't surprise me if BU mixes up lots of different defensive looks to prevent BYU from getting into a set flow on offense....Depends on the defensive ability of WE/AT in the open court. I'd like to see more of the trapping half court pressing if WE/AT can handle back court defense one on one....or two on one with their footwork/height/length

I think we have pretty much always started at least 3 guards... As long as you consider Roberts a guard, and as long as he's healthy Friday, seems like we'll be starting a PG (Maniscalco or McCain), Warren, and Roberts... Along with probably Taylor Brown and Will Egolf.

Oh, and if I had to choose a starting lineup for Friday, it would be this:

Roberts
Brown
Egolf
Warren
Maniscalco

McCain plays better D, but Maniscalco has a knack for coming up big on the road.

Then again, it doesn't so much matter who starts as it does with who finishes...and I'd like to finish w/ Roberts or Warren at the line plenty to end it :D

So thinking about this-- it's a HUGE lineup for us... And kinda pretty big for anybody who isn't a top tier BCS type of program. We shouldn't feel small this year.

**Shake off cobwebs...shake off cobwebs**
sorry for the absence...UofI basketball is all the craze in Champaign Urbana...its ok i guess

feel like we're getting a bit bigger this year (Fish you eluded to this), are we still living and dying by the three? or will the TB and CR combo allow us to maybe have a game in the paint?

I wasn't able to watch the exhibition game because C-U likes to hate on BU, but how did TB, CR, and WE down low?

Someone already said it about Zach Andrews, but when POB was here they ran the press more. I remember them doing it in the MVC tournament agains....UNI? maybe? it was so long ago and many brain cells have been killed since then

good to be back,

on a broadcasting note...anyone from the Champaign Urbana area know where I could maybe catch the game?

The starting 5 for the BYU game will be:
McCain
Warren
Roberts
Brown
Egolf
These guys need to realize that they cannot committ stupid fouls like they did against Lewis.

I tried to listen to the Lewis game online from the WMBD site and it just gave me some crappy filler music, but the game was on the radio. Why did this happen, and will it happen this friday?

Several of us had no problems... Maybe try getting to it from bradleybraves.com?

That happened to me once during the Lewis game. My media player had locked up, so I hit play again and it was just an advertisement or some crap. So I had to reload the media player and it worked fine after that. Weird glitch, not sure why it did that.
