The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (8-1, RPI 156) visits Bradley (8-3, RPI 46) on Saturday at 7:05pm. The game is not on broadcast TV, but is available on BUBraves.tv.

Southern Miss is 8-1, but has played possibly the weakest schedule among Div I schools. They have 8 wins, but 4 of them have been against NAIA schools.
Their 8 wins have all been at home against weaklings Belhaven (a little Div 2 NAIA school), Tennessee-Martin (RPI 289), Alabama State (RPI 257), Spring Hill (another NAIA team!), Sam Houston State (RPI 65!), Savannah State (RPI 272), Southern-New Orleans (yet a 3rd NAIA team on their regular schedule!), and Reinhardt (still yet a 4th NAIA school!!).
Southern Miss's only game away from home, so far, was against Alabama, at a neutral site, where they lost.
This game at Bradley will be their first true road game of the season.

Here are their results--
11/11/06 vs. Belhaven Reed Green Coliseum W, 63-38
11/16/06 vs. Tennessee-Martin Reed Green Coliseum W, 77-67
11/18/06 vs. Alabama State Reed Green Coliseum W, 80-43
11/22/06 vs. Spring Hill Reed Green Coliseum W, 113-57
11/30/06 vs. Sam Houston State Reed Green Coliseum W, 94-86
12/02/06 vs. Savannah State Reed Green Coliseum W, 61-45
12/06/06 vs. Southern-New Orleans Reed Green Coliseum W, 70-45
12/16/06 at Alabama Mobile, Ala. (Mitchell Center) L, 64-77
12/19/06 vs. Reinhardt Reed Green Coliseum W, 80-56

Their leading scorer at 15.6 ppg is a 6'2" freshman guard, Jeremy Wise. 6'3" sophomore guard, Courtney Beasley, is second with 10.6 ppg. Demar Dotson, a 6'9" juco transfer from Southeastern Illinois CC is tied for the 3rd leading scorer at 9.1 ppg with another freshman, 6'6" guard Sai'Quon Stone. These 4 plus another freshman 6'8" forward Andre Stephens are the likely starters.

Here is one thread about how they feel disrespected by us Bradley fans--

Well, if you want some respect, stop trying for the NAIA national championship by playing every weakling NAIA school that owns a bus.

This is Eustachy's team correct......thank goodness the Kids are on break. If UIC/Collins thinks he got an earfull.

That was the first thing I looked for when the schedule came out, I'm really disappointed I'm not going to be there.

Did anyone else read those pregame notes from the Southern Miss. site? Here is the report they have on the Bradley players--
Four Braves are in double-figure scoring including Jimmy Church who ranks first at 16.3 points per contest. Church is followed by Will Franklin (13.9), Daniel Ruffin (12.3) and Zach Andrews (11.1) in the scoring average column as the Braves tally 81.4 points per game as a team.

Bradley's leading scorer is Jimmy Church! This can't be just a typo, since they thoroughly botch both the first and last names of Jeremy Crouch.

Guess your program isn't as big-time as you thought it was.

Or perhaps the folks in Mississippi are as illiterate as we thought.

If you say Jeremy Crouch outloud in the most profound Southern accent you can muster up, you could get to Jimmy Church.go ahead, try it

I like the name Jimmy Church better....sounds like an Hoosier type name. I think Paul Herzog should start calling him "Jimmy Church"

This is funny,
but maybe in order to get more respect down in Hattiesburg, our players would need to all change their names to Jimmy Jon, Billy Bob, and Bubba.

So they didn't spell somebody's name right. What's the big deal. We all make a mistake in spelling. Just worry about winning the game. I've traveled through Mississippi many times on the way to Biloxi and they are great people. Go Braves.

This was a brutal game to watch last year. It looked like it would be the first one to 40 would win. I believe Danny Adams hit a couple of three to help the Braves take the lead for good.

I agree Chico but for ONE nite...they are the enemy

Classy post. Good luck to your team the rest of the season.

Classy posts get classy responses. I came here because Bradley posters were dumping on my school, so I had to put those posters in their place. I just get annoyed when fans of bush league schools try to talk smack about the big boys.
