IMO, Coach is being 'held hostage'.

You made your offer, he accepted and signed the LOI, now you have to stick by what you've done. Until the kid has not qualified, then you are responsible, in my opinion, to stand by your commitments.
Anything else makes Bradley like the "just win" organizations that we criticize so often on here.

I have to agree....coach knew what he was getting in DW. I trust they will do the right thing.

I think the difference is the support system here, ask anyones who has ever taken a class with a basketball player. The coaches MAKE SURE those kids are in classes. I'm talking they check every day, they check grades all the time, they get the players tutors if they're needed. I have to applaud the staff here at BU, they just set the player up to succeed, they don't make failure an option.
I'm sure Georgethedog or any students who have had a BBall player in their class can attest to what I'm saying.

I'm sure the coaches knew that academics would be an issue for DW.....but what they weren't expecting was ICC's failure to monitor DW's progress towards a degree. Now, it sounds like ICC is "scrambling" to make sure DW goes to class and fulfills his degree requirements.
While I agree that BU should stand by its commitment to DW, it is under no obligation to him if he fails to meet the requirements for graduation.....so IMO there's nothing wrong with BU having a fall-back plan that includes Coley or whoever.

A post player that hasn't been used much in his duration at BU.

I find this thought much more atrocious than letting DW go - DW has given nothing to the BU program except for his word that he would play there. The other player being discussed, at no fault of his own has been oft injured and has earned the right to receive the scholarship and a BU education.

I agree here too. Bradley shouldn't force a kid to leave... but if the player in question wanted more playing time then transferring is an option and not some kind of unethical one. So if he wants to stay you're obligated to keep him, but if he wants to play and won't be able to, you help him find a spot somewhere. I trust the staff is ethical and will stand by their commitments.

It would be handled the same way Jassey was handled. I didn't hear anyone griping about his dismissal.

It's my understanding the players meetings are complete and it was after SJ was told his role on next years team, he made the choice to leave. Not what I'd call a "dismissal". So I'd assume this other player has been told his options and has not made a similar choice.
If those meetings are finished, and as a staff you recruit someone you think might fit your program and you then try to coerce a current player to leave, I say that's just wrong.
I trust that JL will handle things ethically and above board.
