Pathetic

Chico lets get real. You and I could have won 30 that year with JL,HH, Massive Mike etc. Anyone who knows BU BB knows TB was the X and O man and Tricky Dick was a Great recruiter. Maybe a little on the S- - -y side. Those sure were the good old days JL said he wanted to bring back.
I think I know my Bradley BB. Bradley was a young team with a bunch of sophomores, outside of JL and Big Mike that season, so IMO it was a great coaching job. I'll repeat, nothing against Tony, but the guys also loved playing for Dick V.

Chico I don't want to argue this point with you. I never said Dicks players didn't like playing for him because I know they did. I use to officiate scrimmages for him. Yes they did like him but, thats not the point we were discussing. The X and O man was Tony B not Dick period. Tony went on to coach at several other Universitys while Dick went to the Big show because he knew the owner of an NBA team he went to work for.

I know or strongly believe that Tony was def. an important part of that group. He was very well liked.

A couple of points to address here as I fundamentally disagree with some topics on your post.

Point 3. You obviously missed the season after the Sweet 16 year and last year as far as JL's coaching ability. I am not saying that JL is a great coach, but the coaching job done in those 2 years was very good. After saying this, I will admit that JL is not having a good year on the coaching front this year.

Point 4. Why bash this player? It was the staff that sent him in to guard Fay not the player. He is a decent guy and good player in HS. IMO, your point here looses credibility and reeks of a personal agenda.

Refering to point 3. Are you saying it is ok to coach well every 2 out of 8 years?

Refering to point 4. I know I come off as harsh in this post. I know the player I targeted and have no problem with him....I am just looking for an explanation as to why AT and MK have 0 min....and all the sudden he is our best option. Apparently there is no answer yet. That was just my opinion on the matter. Maybe MK and AT are slacking in practice and he was stepping it up?

That's one thing I can agree with:)

What are you doing still up, friend:doubt: I saw your post about comparing yourself at guarding Fry:eek: I know one thing, if I was sent in to guard him, he would of been holding his pair of pride and joy's as he would of hit them on my forehead going to the basket:lol:

Wow...first...love the passion. Let's take a step back and realize that when this type of dialogue is gone, then the program is really, really in trouble because no one cares. We all care and we all think this sucks, plain and simple. I'm no genius or savant, but here's what I think -

1. Dick Versace WAS a great coach. Barone WAS a great assistant. They both proved their worth here and elsewhere. BU hasn't had anyone close to DV since he was forced to leave.

2. Anyone who says people who boo should stay home is an *****. If you pay for a ticket, if you have season tickets, if you pay escalating maintenance fees, if you're a Scholarship Society member, you have a right to boo THE PERFORMANCE. You aren't booing a person, but the coach gets paid more than 95% of the paying populus to win games, and the players here on $30,000+ scholarships where they are treated like royalty (agree with JL on that...they are kings of the castle). Pee down your leg 3 games in a row at HOME, in situations where nearly ALL OF YOU have been before...unacceptable. I am quite confident our well-paid coach would agree that 3 home losses in a row doesn't cut it. Sorry Chuck B and anyone else who thinks that they're beyond reproach...if we want to pretend we're a real program, well then we need to act like one and not whine when fans aren't happy with a 3-3 home record! 14-2 in the last 1:44 is booable at just about any level.

3. Sam Maniscalco is NOT a 'next level' guard. Like I said earlier...prove me wrong. He's a GREAT 6th or 7th man on a good team, or this on our team. Heart of a Lion, gets the most out of it. But we miss Dodie and DSE more than we ever thought we would.

4. The 'they haven't played together' excuse is B-S.

5. We're talented enough to be Top 3.

6. I'm tired of this kind of basketball. I can't even really say what kind of basketball it is, but I know that we have some real good talent, and we do nothing well. So...either we're not talented or...

7. Playing Ryan Phillips real time in conference play is inexcusable. Good for him for being an 'effort' guy, but him getting in ahead of scholarship players who could have gone elsewhere is deplorable. If AT and Milos are that bad (which they aren't), then shame on JL for wasting time and resources getting them to BU. If they are good enough to play...well...explain.

8. How on Earth can we have two all-league players and not even win home games?

9. What do we do well?

10. What do other programs do that we don't...besides win? We fired the last guy for what? A losing conference record?

Last but not least...I booed...and I will again if warranted. But if you think for one second I don't bleed Bradley RED, well...meet me outside of Carver one night and we'll discuss over a cold one...my treat...and we'll be best friends afterward, I guarantee it! :D

I gave my hypothesis for your #7 point earlier.....no one seems to agree....it is left unexplainable.

2. Sure.....boo away, just not my thing! Just don't dare complain because I'm standing up supporting the team during the game!

3. As I stated earlier for those that think EM belongs on the bench, maybe there's enough room for SM too?

4. Not sure anyone used that as an "excuse".

5. Maybe.

I did not read the whole thread yet, so forgive me if this was already posted, but I have 1 HUGE issue I am second guessing coach Les on. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY go to a 1-3-1 zone with SIU coming out of a timeout down by 7 with a minute and a half to go. You KNOW they are drawing up a play for a three points shot... and you go to a zone and give the a WIDE open look. That play, IMO, was when i looked over to my friend sitting next to me and said, we will lose this game.

Why, Why, Why put TB back in the game when the team was ahead by 7, playing good enough to hold the lead for a win or maybe add to the 7 point lead:!: I understand how good TB is but he was not needed at that point, had 4 fouls on his butt and then like you said go to a 1-3-1 zone:?

Bradleybrave, you raise some good concerns but I will add to your list. We had Coach Mo who I give a lot of credit for raising the program out of the ashes. I like Mo and getting fired is part of the coaching business. That being said, I was in the camp that Mo should have been replaced. We bring in Coach Les who I think has become a decent coach and who IMO, is having a bad coaching year to date. What is the constant here? My opinion is that the constant is the BU institution. My question to add to your comments is how dedicated is the current administration to fielding a top tier Valley program? I also believe that the MVC with the exception of the past couple of years is much better than the previous decade. Remember, a lot of the plans and facilities projects were in place before JoJo got here.

Great quote but I perfer "**** Away" because thats just what we did:!: I didn't boo, like I said because I was so f--king mad, I just wanted out of there:!: My wife and I walked through the alley by Big Al's and into Hoops, without wearing my coat because I was so hot:!: Took me 6 beers to cool off:!: Glad my wife don't drink, as she drove us home:!: The RP thing was nothing more than JL grabing air and a dream:!: I could not sleep all night as I kept seeing Fry's eye's light up like fire, when RP started guarding him:!:

Just curious Beni -- What would you suggest the current administration do to show they are dedicated to fielding a top tier Valley program? I would argue that they have done, and are doing, all that they can to allow this to happen. They have given Les free reign to hire/fire his assistants (or have they?). They have brought in someone who appears to be a qualified AD who has led his previous institution to multiple sports successes). The new athletic facilities have moved forward at a rapid pace.

I like that our administration demands academic excellence and high character from our athletes. I would not want us to become SIU, Tennesse, UK, KU, or some of the other programs that are filled with derelicts, convicts, and the unintelligent.

Also, I'm not sure I agree that the MVC is better today than it was a decade ago. I'd say it's about the same.

Not arguing just giving Dick a little credit for a great season. Not once have I ever discredited Tony B, but he wasn't here during the 32-3 season was my only point and the Braves were IMO a young team. Getting a job because of knowing someone isn't a new thing. There's a big company in town where it helps to know someone.

BB......I agree with much of your post except for the booing. It wasn't Milo or AT's fault we lost since they didn't get a chance to help. So in reality you are booing the guys who didn't play. Personally I don't think that's fair.

Personally I don't like booing the team at all....but that's me. I don't think the players are trying to lose. My own kids may have dissappointed me in the past but I've never booed them....I'm not for blowing smoke either like I heard on the post-game either.

Let's see what happens next home game if we stand and make some noise in crunch time and then see if they respond.
