PJ Star article- Taylor Brown

He punched a guy in the face who may have deserved it.

seriously...have we really heard the truth?
The report comes basically just from the one guy's complaint..his side of the story...
I know TB and had he really punched a guy in the face, the guy's face wouldn't just have a split lip, trust me.
I agree completely that TB is held to a higher standard and should have done what it takes to avoid this kind of incident, but I love his passion and he needs to learn to channel it into productive efforts...
I suspect TB will learn from the discipline imparted, which by the way will likely be considerably more substantial that what DUI's and underage drinking violations at a few other schools have gotten, namely the kids were allowed to practice and play the very next day, and never disciplined at all.

Hey he was being "dissed".....sigh.

its EXACTLY why we should not cast stones at others (programs) for DUI's...speeding tickets...no valid drivers licsense's or anything else.

NO program is immune from this stuff and, quite frankly, BU has had MORE then thier fair share of this unacceptable type behavior.

i dont think anyone has knocked other programs for incidents. bu has their problems and is no position to act like we are better than others in this area.

Maybe he didn't punch him. I don't really care if he did or not. In my world 2 college guys getting into a fight isn't a big deal. Heck, it happens in practice more than we would ever want to know. I think it's silly that police were even involved, and from what it sounds like, most people reading this probably do too.

TB has already apologized, because a lot will be made of this minor incident. And he will be disciplined, Coach JL has already said so.

But what is with the newspaper? This happened early Sunday morning. Many people knew about it Sunday. Then in the newspaper Friday, 5 days later, it is reported as if it is the Super Bowl results! It is the top, headline article on the front page of the Sports section, complete with picture.

This belongs at the bottom of page 3 or 4, if at all.

do u think it is wrong for him to apologize or be disciplined.

Apologize to a guy that was provoking him? No.

Apologize to his coach and teammates for not being above this? Yes.

Disciplined for violating team rules by getting arrested? Yes.

Should this carry over into a season that's still 2 months away from starting? No.

Hmm. Well, it's a true sign of the times where charges are pressed after two college kids get in a fistfight. It used to be if someone had something to say to someone, you settle it outside and it's over and done with. No cops, no nothing. I guess that's not the case anymore. In a strange way, shouldn't we be happy that they fought with fists and not guns, and someone didn't seriously get hurt, shot, or killed? Oh well. I don't think of Taylor Brown any differently than I did before this happened. He didn't fail a drug test, pass out drunk in his car, or hit a girl. He punched a guy in the face who may have deserved it.

Also, it wouldn't be Bradley Basketball season without some sort of drama, now would it? :D

I would normally agree with this... fights happen all the time when cops are not called. However, if the PJS is accurate in their reporting that TB was at this guys place of work (Macy's) and making threatening "gestures" to him at a BU soccer game, I could see why the police were called for one fight.

Like I said, who knows how accurate it is... but if someone came to my place of work and stared at me and made other threats at a public place like a soccer game, I might be a little worried as well. If this person that had been doing these things to me then hit me and split my lip, the cops would definitely be called...

That's the troubling part of this. The intimidation thing elevates this to another level. Not that the fight is acceptable either.

Thanks again Flipper... Oh, that's right, there's this Brown thing. Mind adrift via Flipper's avatar. I agree 100% with everybody!!! (I think she would look good in my Vette)

If he was so "worried", why did he come to the Bradley campus late on a Saturday night? He's not a BU student.

Sorry Ruffin was 2 years ago...time flys.

I am not trying to minimze it, but my point was that, though an isolated incident like the Ruffin one sticks in our minds, Bradley has had fewer such incidents than most D1 programs.

I clearly have no way of knowing that answer unless I am the person in question- which I am clearly not...

Isn't it common that ICC students hang out around BU? He was apparently at the BU soccer game so he does hang out at BU events. I am sure there are several ICC students that hang out at BU. TB and this person have a mutual friend, so maybe he was going to see him? No one will probably ever know why he was there... and BTW- 11:30pm is not "late on a Saturday" on a college campus... 3am is "late"

Nacho--you actually bring up an important cultural point at BU...

Most who were at BU in the mid-to-late 90's are probably aren't aware of how many local kids and ICC kids go to BU today.

Back in the 1990's there was a fair amount of shame to be local and go to Bradley. Not sure why it was that way.

About 7 years or so ago, that began to change in a big way. A lot more local kids go to Bradley. A lot of locals eventually go to Bradley by way of ICC.

Summers used to be a dead time around campus, but now, it's not uncommon to have multi-house parties in the summer as kids come back from other schools. . .

So you have a lot more interaction between Bradley and ICC students on and around campus.

I think its interesting that this went down outside of Haussler Hall. Anybody been to campus recently? To actually be outside of Haussler Hall (and not the Markin Center) would be very difficult with the construction in the area.

Also, there isn't any reason for anyone who isn't an athlete to ever walk closerto Haussler than Markin or Morgan as Haussler is strictly athletics at this point.

Curious that this unidentified man would be that close to somewhere he has absolutely no business being. Hmmm.

my point exactly...had this happened on the court...trash talking, staring the guy down, tussling, split lip, just maybe it might have been a 1-and-1...
Hey-- people have done more to me and I never once entertained the idea of calling the cops..the word wuss comes to mind...
