Predictions about MVC transfers playing elsewhere this season

Make predictions about how some of the top transfers out of the MVC will do this coming season with their new teams-

A.J. Green- I'll start with the 2022 MVC Player of the Year- UNI's A.J. Green is currently listed as one of 20 players on the roster of the MIlwaukee Bucks, and not on the roster of the Wisconsin Herd, the Bucks' G-League team. But he was signed to a 2-way contract, and only 15 players can be kept on the Bucks NBA roster. That makes it most likely he'll start in the G-League. I'll predict he will come off the bench initially for the Wisconsin Herd, and get plenty of playing time if he stays healthy. And I'll predict he will average 8-9 points per game, and shoot around 35% from three. He could get a chance to play with the Bucks at some time during the season, but he'll probably have to prove he can defend well.

Terry Roberts- One of Bradley's two transfers, and the 2022 MVC Newcomer of the Year, will play at Georgia. Hell play for a rebuilding Georgia team that finished last in the SEC, fired Tom Crean, and hired Mike White. Georgia has 9 transfers from other D1 schools, including Roberts. And they have 9 guards on the roster, though Terry might be among the most experienced and skilled. I'll guess he will average 24 minutes per game and 11-12 ppg. I'm guessing he will not score as easily against better opposition as he did at Bradley, but I could be wrong.

Isiaih Mosley- the runner up to A.J. Green for Player of the Year, and the third 1st team All MVC player last year to transfer. I think he could get 28 minutes a game at Missouri, as they desperately need scorers. They averaged only 65.5 ppg last season, which ranked dead last in the SEC by a mile, and 309th in Division I. Their top 2 scorers from last year averaged just 12 and 11 ppg, and only one of them returns this season. And they shot only 28.1% from three as a team, worst in the SEC and 355th in Division I (out of 358 ). Mosley was the MVC's leading scorer (20.4 ppg) and leading 3-point shooter (42.7%), so he should get a lot of playing time. Wanting to prove he is NBA caliber, I predict he will put up a lot of shots, and average 18-20 ppg.

Noah Carter- UNI lost their 2nd leading scorer, the the MVC's 6th leading scorer (15.0 ppg). He is also now at Missouri, but because he plays a similar position as Mosley, but is not as good a shooter (only 29.9% from three), I predict he will come off the bench initially, something he probably won't be happy with. But he is capable of scoring in streaks, and is a tough matchup problem because of his size, so he could do OK. I'll guess 8-10 ppg.

Jayson Kent- Bradley's other transfer. I included Jayson, even though he averaged just 6.9 ppg and 26.4% from three. I think he'll get more playing time, and maybe some starts and average 8-9 ppg for Indiana State. I wish him good luck.

Antonio Reeves- The MVC's 2nd leading scorer (20.1 ppg) is now at Kentucky. Kentucky is deep and talented, and they have 3-point shooters (they were 2nd in the SEC in team 3pt%), but I think Reeves will get significant playing time and could be a starter. I'll guess 12-13 ppg.

Tyreke Key- Former 1st team All-MVC guard from Indiana State is playing his final season at Tennessee. He's coming off a serious shoulder injury and surgery, but should be well healed. Tennessee is another talented and deep SEC team with several returning scorers. I think Key will play off the bench and average 9-10 ppg. I hope he does better than that.

I think Terry made a huge mistake by going to Georgia. He thought he would elevate himself by thinking he would have more exposure. I feel just the opposite will happen. He will be just a part of the group. Had he stayed at Bradley he would have been a major cog on a good team. Possibly top Candidate for player of the year in the MVC. Now that's exposure. If you are good enough the scouts will find you

AJ Green will be a yo-yo guy via 10 day contracts. It'll be interesting to see how he holds up physically with his chronic hip issues.

A.J. Green-2022 MVC Player of the Year- UNI's A.J. Green is currently listed as one of 20 players on the roster of the MIlwaukee Bucks, and not on the roster of the Wisconsin Herd, the Bucks' G-League team....

The Milwaukee Bucks completed their NBA preseason schedule with an 0-5 record. Their regulars didn't play a lot, so the backups and training cam invites got a lot of playing time.
A.J. Green got into all 5 preseason games for the Bucks, and averaged 13.3 minutes per game. His numbers were not very good. He averaged 4.4 points per game, and was 8-28 overall (28.6%). He was just 6-24 from three (25.0%). He is expected to most likely start the season with the Wisconsin Herd, the Bucks' G-League team.

Another former MVC player was drafted by Memphis Grizzlies (1st round, #19 overall) and will be a rookie this season in the NBA or possibly G-League.
Jake LaRavia played 2 years at Indiana State, then transferred and played last season at Wake Forest, where he averaged 14.6 ppg. The Grizzlies are 2-2 in the preseason, and they are playing their final preseason game tonight. LaRavia played in 3 of the 4 previous games, and averaged 20.8 minutes per game, and 8.3 points per game. He's averaging 40% overall, but just 21.4% from three.

The NBA regular season starts tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct. 18 ). Each team is allowed to keep 15 players on their active roster, plus 2 additional players on 2-way contracts.

The Milwaukee Bucks made a couple roster cuts last night, and A.J. Green has made the opening day roster for the NBA Bucks as one of their two 2-way players. If the other 15 NBA contract players remain healthy, Green could end up with the Wisconsin Herd G-League team so he can get playing time, but he could possibly see time on the Bucks.

Jake LaRavia has also made the final cut with the Memphis Grizzlies. He was a 1st round draft pick, and is on a standard rookie contract, which is guaranteed.

The Bucks and Grizzlies play their first games Wednesday night.

Totally agree with you bradley124. Players always heading for the bright lights and ignoring the fact that if you have loyalty toward your school and have a decent year the scouts always know where you are. Look at the top mid major NBA players of all time. #5 Damian Lillard - Weber State-,#4 Steve Nash-Santa Clara, #3 Kawhi Leonard- San Diego State,#2 Steph Curry- Davidson and #1 Larry Bird of the MVC. Time to end that myth.

Indiana State transfer Tyreke Key lit it up last night for Tennessee in their convincing win over #2 Gonzaga
26 pts on just 12 shots in 27 minutes

AJ Green hasn't played since the game 10/22 but the Bucks are the only undefeated team left at 4-0

Several former MVC players now play at Missouri.
Sean East is listed as a senior there, after playing one year each at Massachusetts, Bradley, and John A Logan college. He played 17:30 off the bench last night, was 4-9 from the field, 0-2 from three, had 8 points, 5 rebounds, and no assists.
Isiaih Mosley, formerly of Missouri State, played 21:40 off the bench, was 5-8 overall, 1-2 from three for 11 points, and had 3 rebounds, and 4 assists (lead the team)
And Noah Carter, formerly of UNI, started and played 18:51. He was 4-9 overall, 0-3 from three for 8 points, and had 3 rebounds, 0 assists, and 3 turnovers.

Missouri beat Penn last night 92-85.

Former Bradley player Sean East came off the bench again and in 15 minutes, he had 6 points, 1 assist, and 3 turnovers.
Former UNI player Noah Carter had a big game. In 27 minutes he had 28 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. He was 8-15 overall, and 6-9 from three.
Former Missouri State star and MVC leading scorer last season, Isiaih Mosley, did not play. He only played 16 minutes off the bench in Missouri's first game, and scored just 4 points. According to Missouri head coach Dennis Gates, it was just a simple "coaching decision"-

I am not buying that explanation. There is more to this story, IMO.

Intelligent mid-major coaches should be gathering data on these transfers to share with their roster.
