"Privileges" taken away

I'm tired of the constant excuses....

You guys really need to stop using them...

EVERY team in the conference at some time or another has lost players...

Creighton lost Funk, who was much better than Warren

ISU lost Bryson who was POY...

It happens to everyone...

If thats the mentality they have because Andrew and Will can't play, we might as well just pack it in and forfeit the rest of the games...

Obviously it proves one thing to me for sure, and that is Jim Les can not adapt to change, and it just needs to be said for what it is...

There are one of two things, either our players aren't as good as they were supposed to be,

OR

Our coaching staff just isn't that great...

After this long, its hard to continuously blame it on the players because the players change, yet the constant dribbling around the perimeter, the weave, the 4 small 1 big offense, the poor man defense, the poor 3-pt shooting defense are all there and have been there for quite awhile...

We used to be able to cover it up w/ either a O'Bryant inside, a Sommerville who could play w/ anyone, or a Crouch who could shoot 3's like they were layups, but unfortunately, we don't have those players anymore and maybe just maybe the Coach should adapt the team to what we actually have on our roster and not what he wants them to be.

*applause*

Thanks for making my point.
Go back and check those years that Creighton lost Funk and ISU lost Bryson. Those teams underachieved those year, when they would have likely been NCAA teams.

Facts are facts. I am sorry you are tired of hearing what is a proven fact. I think it's unrealistic to think a team should overcome the loss of the best player/top scorer. It's not going to happen. If Bradley doesn't get AW back this year, we will see them struggle to beat good teams.

We dont have a go to guy that can stick the ball in the hoop when we need it and its not like we are playing jokes like isu, umkc bad loss stuck with fl and msu for the 1st half then couldn't buy a basket no one is a true scorer

Oh hey... by the way everyone... I was looking for the "Negative Nellie" thread. Is this it? I brought popcorn and soda. ***excuse me*** I'm just gonna take a seat over there in the corner. Carry-on.

Did those teams lose home games and play all the wrong players?

Somehow I don't think they did....

Underachieve yes, BUT lots of teams have won lots of games w/o their top players and not whined about it the entire time...

There are still guys that are busting their butts and trying to make things right...unfortunately some have the same attitude you have and have promptly given up...

Somehow I think there are still about 10 guys that can play basketball...otherwise they shouldn't be here...

The season is not over yet, but with the attitude of not being able to overcome injuries this early, it may as well be.

First, if anyone thinks we can or should be as good without AW and WE as we would be with them, they're crazy. They're both contributing starters, both lost for the season, and our team isn't as good without them. Adjust your expectations accordingly. I personally accepted a long time ago that AW wouldn't be with us. It's time everyone else did too.

As far as JL having to resort to taking things away or whatever, well, I am not sure what to think about that. He's the coach, he's closer to this than any of us are. What he's talking about, I am not real sure. I don't see this stuff happening at other successful programs so I am not sure what to think. We generally don't do things the conventional way, so I will wait to pass judgement until we see results one way or the other.

I did that a long time ago as well. In fact, it was driving me nuts to see every other post saying how everything will be much better when AW returns. Well.....maybe all those people were talking about next season, because that's what it's starting to look like.

To get back on the topic of this thread...

Does anybody actually know what kind of privileges will be taken away? I mean until the new fieldhouse is built, how glamorous is it to be an athlete? First pick of classes, nice accommodations on the road, good meals? Besides that what else is there to take away?

I don't buy the two starters. WE wasn't really a "starter" because he started two games. Let's face it we're not as good as we hoped we be.

Here are the facts: We can't play perimeter defense. We can't shot the 3. We have no center. AW could make a difference but he would be our only go-to guy and therefore easy to defend.

All-in-all I think we have some talent and reason to be happy about the future. So we have a bad year and more on.

I got off the band wagon after we lost to DIII team but I'll jump back on next year. I will just enjoy this year for what it is and not get too stressed or expect anything.

AW--Red Shirt Please

Lets just take are ball and go home because everyone thinks we suck lets be real fans not like we all think bradley is going to win the ncaa .goal #1 win the valley #2 win the bid in st louis #3 play hard and learn how to get better not make the same mistakes over and over

Hope TW doesn't have to go on the injured list also. He dribbled the ball off his foot so much tonight he might have broke it.

LOL!

I don't think TW is a great ballhandler outside of him needing to put it on the floor about 1-5 times as he works his way to the hoop.

I never thought of him as one to handle the ball. Tonight, he had a couple/few times when he tried to take the ball more than that.

I am a little confused why, but I can only guess the players are encouraged to sense the "urgency" to "just go" .... and if that means TW is the best ball-handler at the time of the fast-break, then he has to take the rock. It was sloppy a couple times and I expect a readjustment.

We have to remember most of these guys have 8 or less D1 basketball game experience. Let's let Coach Les and his staff have enough time to prepare this team for the Valley tourniment when it really counts for any NCAA tourniment chances. We must be patient and let the team progess.

they have to get their own water after they come out of the game... just the word on the street

Thought I was hearing they'd have to drill, scrape up their own ice, and melt it down.. Then walk 5 miles, uphill, in the snow back to campus! ;)

I TOTALLY agree. A mid-major team CANNOT lose two starters and expect to win consistently so soon. When one of those starters is argueably your best player it is even less likely that a mid-major will win right away.

I would agree if I saw that AW actually makes a difference in the outcome of any of our 4 losses. Tonight is the only game where I would say he definitively would.

Also, on the point of the coaching staff and preparation, if they go into the season not prepared for ALL possibilities (which theoretically should include being forced to play 4 walkons and the waterboy in a worst case scenario preparation) and this is the result. . .

You have to find a way to be competitive no matter what curves you are thrown.

Thats called our "broke" offense...

When all else fails, try to put on a dribbling clinic and play like you're in the NBA.

Is it out of the realm of possibility that outside of one year (2006-07), we haven't had a clear offensive or defensive objective?

And if so, why haven't we?

I would argue this, but yeah I can't because you're right...

Once again, another thing I say we can't blame on the players...

I do believe this is where an individual (doesn't matter who) puts up our MVC place finish for the duration of the current coach's contract...

I don't know the exact numbers, but I do know there's a play-in in there and no 1st-3rd finishes.
