Quiz regarding recruiting

If his team is pretty good, he is probably not asked to score a lot. I truly believe that the lack of a really good knockdown, spot up shooter, really hurt us. I know AW is coming back and the rest of the team is improving....but man a guy that can hit at an almost 60% clip from deep sounds good to me!

Hes only averaging 10 ppg but that team is pretty good. I wouldn't mind a lights out shooter guy for Bradley.

Will Franklin only averaged 8 ppg his sophomore season at juco. I think that's why he, like Malat, appear to be under-recruited. But anyone who can shoot 60% from three, no matter what level of play it's at, is worth considering.

I checked a list of all the 2009 shooting guards listed by recruiting sevice Scout.com--

As you scroll down and from page to page, the majority are already committed. But as you get down to the 2-star players and lower, there are still some available. Interestingly, a good number of them are from Illinois. If the coaches are recruiting a shooting guard, he may be one that's "under the radar".

He was in the same conference as my high school, SWC. He was a pretty good all round player fairly athletic and smart off the ball defender.

What high school did you go to?

Michael Malat was a senior on the 2007 O'Fallon team that made it to the Elite 8 in Class 4A high school playoffs at Carver Arena in 2007 where they reached the finals before losing to Chicago Simeon and Derrick Rose. Also on that team was a pretty fine player Kenny Leverette, who is now a freshman at the same juco, Southwestern Illinois College.
He transferred to O'Fallon for his senior year, prior to that he played at Belleville East.

O'fallon and Belleville East always seem to have solid teams in almost anything. Always hated playing them in high school. If he graduated in 2007 I probably saw him play when he was a junior or sophomore (if he was on varsity)...wish I had a good memory haha

The biggest problem with him is he will be a junior, I would prefer a freshman that could redshirt or maybe a transfer that would become elgible 2010-11 , I think we have plenty of guards for next season .

6' 5" Lance Stemler was also a lights out 3 point shooter as a Juco.
However, while at Bradley and Indiana, when the bright lights went on. Lance went dark.

Booker Woodfox was a good shooter at juco, but only 1 D1 school thought he was worth a scholarship because he was a shooting guard under 6 foot.
That worked out pretty well for Creighton, and for the 2009 POY Woodfox.

Cole-Scott was also a good shooting guard under 6 foot at Juco.
