Remy Abell

Corey Hawkins is a very good all around player - in addition to 29 pts (he's averaging 21.5 ppg) he had 7 reb & 5 asst.

BTW - unrated Georgetown nearly beat Indiana but loses in overtime...

You really think he is no good? I admit he may never be the star of this Indiana team with all the 4 and 5-star players, and future NBA'ers they have, but the segment I saw he had a big part to play with Indiana making up a deficit and pullling ahead in the middle of the 2nd half. There were critics who said he could never play point guard, even in the MVC, but he looked pretty good to me. You don't think he would have made Bradley a better team?

Here is another one that is not meant to annoy the JL-haters-
But another player it would have been nice to see play in Peoria, Corey Hawkins scored 29 points tonight to lead UCD to a big road win over an improved Sacramento State (they were 3-0 with a road win at Utah). Tyler Les was 3-6 from three.

It would of been nice, but sounded like it would never happen regardless of the coach:

I have heard it was Hersey's feeling that the kids shouldn't play at Bradley where Hersey is a legend. He wanted them to stay out west.
Corey, since his sophomore season, has had bigger schools like Arizona State (where he committed) offering scholarships, so Bradley had no chance with him.

That may have been Hersey's thoughts with his older son Brandon, but after Corey left Arizona State and transferred, he wanted to play for Jim Les. I think he would be at Bradley now if JL was still here.

And let me remind that Remy Abell was signed to a LOI for Bradley, People will believe whatever they want, but there is little doubt he would be here.

I still can't understand all the fallout doubters.

If Remy had stayed committed we would have someone who st least resembles a point guard. We are lacking that right now.

+1 Couldn't agree more. The selfish play from our PG was very disheartening.

Not sure I agree. Not only is Abell young but he is not a natural PG. He's a very good player but I'm not sure he'd be an improvement at PG. I'm confident that Fields will solve that problem next year and am hopeful that Bell can develop into a a more confident and comfortable PG. Bell seems to be better suited as a combo guard so I'm betting Geno is looking for a true PG to take over from Fields eventually.

That's why I said "right now."

B4L so you are saying that our PG play is adequate right now? I believe the WL experiment at PG should be over. I can see getting him the ball in a fast break but I'd rather see JE or DSE work the ball as a PG during set plays. WL is a bit selfish and dribbles way too much IMO. Too bad he's not 6'5" because he'd be a great 3. As a two he does not have the 3 point shooting skill that is necessary. I wonder what his team members think of his play. If I played with him I'd be pissed. I remember one play where he drove in and was tripled teamed driving in the paint with WE sitting beyond the 3, wide open on the weak side. A decent PG would have found him. PG should be pass first shoot second unless you're that good and he's not. Man I hope AF is that good because lacking another big we'll be very average if not!

I haven't seen enough games to comment about this year, but I didn't like WL at the point last year for the same reasons. From what I have seen, it looks as if none of our guards can shoot the three so Walt at the 2 would be a nice fit.

Lemon is NOT a PG... We are very inadequate at that position once again SFP. But, obviously Geno believes we have no other choice this year. Bell is not ready (and really doesn't appear to be a PG but more a combo guard). Eastman is much too slow and unpolished to be a PG, and DSE is less adequate than Lemon at the point. Basically, Walt is our only hope right now and, I'm afraid, that will be our biggest problem this year... his inconsistency. Some games he (and we) will look great, and other games will be like the spectacle that we witnessed against USF. Man, I can't wait to get Fields on the floor.

Abell can play PG but right now he's playing backup but...

his numbers are pretty danged impressive...

For the 6-0 Hoosiers....Abell is hitting 72.2% from the floor, 87.5% from 3-pt range, and averages 7.8 ppg - the guy just may be getting a bit more playing time soon...

He's also averaging 7.5 ppg and 12 mpg in their two games decided by less than 25 points. Not saying he wouldn't help BU but the kid isn't walking over water. Come conference play I cant imagine he's more than an afterthought in his sophomore season.

I'm definitely more on T's side on this issue. I believe RA would have been in contention of being an All Valley Player in his career. I'd also have to believe he'd be our PG this year!

Abell didn't score much (4 pts) yesterday in Indiana's blowout 101-53 win over Ball State, but they didn't need him to score. He played 21 minutes off the bench, which was more than a couple starters played, and if you watched any of the game, you would have seen him playing tremendous defense. He is their best defensive guard, and he was partly responsible for Ball State's top 2 scorers going 1-10 from three, and their guards going 1-15 from three.

It sounds like he has developed into a good role player on a national championship caliber team. Good for him. I'm not sure he'll ever be much more on such a high caliber team. It's a shame so many borderline players like Abell over reach; he had a chance to be a star on a lower major or good mid-major team.

I tend to agree with this argument when a kid ends up as a deep reserve. But Remy is not just a common bench player, nor just a role player- he is a valuable part of this year's IU national championship caliber team. He is one their top 2 reserves, and leads the team in FG% (72.2%) and 3-Pt% (87.5%) by a wide margin. He is their top scorer among players who have not started, and may be their best defender.
Just to show how valuable his coaches and teammate consider Remy to be- When Indiana defeated Georgetown in overtime last week to win the Legends Classic tournament in Madison Square Garden, NYC, who was it carrying the trophy around for the media photos? It was Remy- that is not an honor you'll see common role players getting-

I still can't understand all the fallout doubters.

Same fallout as all the other high profile folks who committed to BU in the past and then went elsewhere.

Can you and T stop talking about fallout? Enough already.....

Let's not worry about who didn't come here or why and focus on who is here and who we hope shows up in the future.

I am quite sure the BU players and coaches who are here now could give a **** about who didn't come, who left, or why....

And I bet they are also sick of coming onto this supposed BU support site (if they still do) and continuing to read about JL, CH, RA, SM, UCD, fall out blah blah blah blah blah.

If I was a recruit of BU's who reviews this site, I would think BU fans are stuck in the past, hate each other, and think the current team/coaching staff are a bunch of stiffs.

JL should still be here and Mitt should have beat Obama....

ENOUGH

Move the Heck On!
