Report of Jim Les firing

Lots of players have initially said "I'm leaving" when a coach leaves or is terminated. Often the player lets some time bring them to reality and they stay and play for the new coach.

No need to jump to any conclusions.

I wouldn't be surprised to see WE, AT, and at least two recruits also walking away.

I didn't see WE or AT starting next year over Brown and Prosser, and if AT would have developed or Will had had a good year this year, I think we would have finished in the middle of the pack and Les would still be our coach

I have been told by people who've had conversations with her that rightly or wrongly, she views this hire as the move that will define her legacy at the university. If that's true, then I am excited at the type of candidates we may be considering, and I expect us to make the best possible hire.

I think the task of finding a new person to patrol the sidelines is not going to be as arduous. For me anyway, there are benefits to taking a job here. The fan base is dedicated, the team has a storied history, good academics and growing enrollment, good foundation of players to build upon and develop, new facilities and centrally located.

I have faith in JG, the AD and the trustees in finding an ideal candidate. The men's basketball programs stirs the drink of the athletics program, and is one of the top things that puts the university on people's minds.

Agreed! She's a smart lady who's made all of the right moves so far. I have faith in her.

Others have told them the same, so obviously they don't care, and the only thing that matters is having their way.

The only person I do not feel sorry for is Jim. He'll be paid fully for 3 more years, and I have no doubt he'll land on his feet. But a move like this will burn a lot of bridges, with financial supporters, with players, and with former Bradley players.

I thought we were supposed to support Bradley and the administration no matter what. Something change? :?:

Really? Elvis Dominguez??? Come on!

Think getting rid of KK was a good idea?? I can't believe I'm reading this.

I don't mind here in other areas, but in athletics her decisions have been terrible.

lets see if this is a bigger story than the Matt Roth signing which hit an all time high 320 users...we are at 269 now:lol:

This is the part that scares me, we need a good search committee and be willing to pay more if we expect to get a good coach, if the board lets this Pres. pick a coach then things will not get better.

she simply closed her office door, made a few phone calls, then announced that she, as a "one-person search committee" made the choice.

--her selection at EKU, Jeff Neubauer, who had no head coaching experience at any level, inherited an NCAA team with four talented returning starters and seniors and was only 14-16 with that group. He has been nothing more than mediocre since against SOS that rank about 320 -- and they were bounced in the first round again this year.

--the new selection at Bradley will not be able to hire all his own assistants - per info I have learned, so how will that fly?

--no statement whatsoever from the university -- sad and lacking class....that the news hits the rumor wire first....

I support BU, but I just hope that ALL factors were put into consideration such as player defections, recruiting de-commits, a timeline for a rise back to prominence and also a plan to hire a new coach. If the plan to hire one happens as fast as the dismissal, it will be 6-7 year set back compared to the 3-5 year that it has already caused. GOOD GRIEF! Now we wait!

Blind support? what? that is an absurd comment. If a stock goes down, you sell the stock or, buy more to change the b of d. And in the athletic dept. I don't think she has made the right moves. And neither do many others. I will not argue her success in the academics dept.

All very valid a true points. And people still don't believe she is a control freak...

Well, if that's true I'm interested to see who they hire and how many recruits and current players we retain. I have a major fear that we're going to hire a first time coach or someone from the network out east who doesn't have the chops for <$250K a year. If that's the case, buckle down for Bravesmageddon-- it'll be 2011 x 36664 for a couple of years. But, if they make a great hire, we could come out of it fine. Will have to see.

For this fan, this wasn't the right year to do it, but I'll be watching what develops. Either way, I remain a BU fan.

And to Jim Les, if it's true, thanks for your service and a wild ride in 2006 (and a pretty sweet ride in 2007). Once a Brave Always a Brave.

My conversation with this person said this is all about HER and HER ego. Wants to make Bradley the Berkley of the Midwest.

WOW! I take a nap for an hour and all heck breaks loose!

So she wants to make Bradley "the Berkley of the Midwest", eh? Well then drop us down to Division III right now and deemphasize the athletic department!

Amazing!
