Report of Jim Les firing

I fully support Bradley University and always will. I believe the President and/or the A.D. will make the best decision for BU's future.

--no statement whatsoever from the university -- sad and lacking class....that the news hits the rumor wire first....[/QUOTE]

This is what makes me the most upset about the whole thing!

Is this for sure?

I am incredibly mad/sad right now. If we lose all those players this year will look great compared to what next year will be. We had a chance to be something great next year, now we will probably finish at the bottom again....

WOW! I take a nap for an hour and all heck breaks loose!

So she wants to make Bradley "the Berkley of the Midwest", eh? Well then drop us down to Division III right now and deemphasize the athletic department!

Amazing!

Berkeley competes in the Pac-10... ;)

To be fair about the timing...it's very likely BU wanted to sit on the decision until after the MVC tournament ended, and the news broke before what I'm sure will be an official announcement tomorrow.

JL thank you for all of your efforts, a great sweet 16 run and mostly the outstanding young men you have brought to the university.

I am extremely disapointed. I think he should have been given another year.

Given the President's track record with athletic hires I am extremely concerned. If she fouls this up she does extreme damage to the university given the importance of basketball to fundraising.

I will support whoever is the new coach-they deserve that but I am now extremely concerned for the direction of the program.

Oh please. Things like this get leaked all the time. BU is no different. Would it be 'classless' if good news gets leaked?
Was it lacking class when Jim Les being hired over Wayne McClain was 'leaked'? Wayne is an alum too, ya know.

Let's face it this will be her biggest hire and anything short of a winner and I can see a huge backlash from the alums and community.

You got it! I WILL be the first one to start the "fire Glasser" poll if this does not work out!

Yes. I am sure BP will have a statement out soon...Remember someone on JL's side tipped off foxsports.com :)

As Da Coach said JL is going to be fine. Best Wishes to him and I hope he and Jodi and the family take a great vacation and relax...

This has been stressful for all lately.

I really don't understand this thought process at all! Kids that have been in school four years aren't "allowed" to move on with their lives? Believe it or not, the younger kids are fresh from being recruited by JL and I'm sure he was a big reason they chose Bradley to begin with.

Bingo! This will set us back at least the next couple of years. Next year's team is going to look real good when everyone leaves......

Interesting how some posters who talked about always being loyal to the University now seem to be of the opinion that the players loyalty is to the coach and not bradley University. I can understand recruits making the choice to go somewhere else after a coaching change but if someone who has played here is ready to immediately leave due to a change without at least seeing who the new coach is and what they are like then they dont really have much loyalty to the Braves IMO.

Houston, you and I are identical in our views.

Others have told them the same, so obviously they don't care, and the only thing that matters is having their way.

The only person I do not feel sorry for is Jim. He'll be paid fully for 3 more years, and I have no doubt he'll land on his feet. But a move like this will burn a lot of bridges, with financial supporters, with players, and with former Bradley players.

Well as I said, I will support this team through thick and thin, with whomever is coaching here next year, and even if half this team leaves and we wind up in the cellar for a couple of more years.

But despite me not having the money that the big supporters have, I totally agree that they will not be getting one more dime of my money unless they get the hire right and he is successful. I may still give money to the department where I received my degree, but forget the athletic department receiving any of my money!

It is hardly as simple as you make it out to be. They believe in a coach, the time these guys have put into the basketball program here is unreal. If your leader on that is told to get out, when you think he is the right guy, you're not going to be happy. Sam doesn't have much loyalty because he will graduate and go to grad school somewhere else for free?
