Thank you Braves

WOAH! I would NEVER call a Sweet 16 run WAY overvalued! Yes, it failed to bring the type of elite success that many wanted, though our program was far from being in the complete dumps either. But you can never take away the fun and excitement that that Sweet 16 run brought to the team, all of the loyal Bradley supporters, and the community that year. If we only have one Sweet 16 run every 50 years (and no, I would not be satisfied with that), it will be as special for the fans associated with the team at that time as it was for us back in 2006.

Not trying to change opinions here, just trying to put this in its proper perspective by saying NO Sweet 16 run is overvalued, even if it does not lead to the type of success that we all want.

I agree with you on everything except that a S16 can't be overvalued. 8)

So it's only fair that nobody on here makes a comment against PJ Star journalism that the current regime is moving in the right direction...or indirectly mentioning that we are transitioning well since the last regime.
Should go both ways, as from what I've observed, both sides are guilty of fueling the fire.

Depends on DC's intention. It's his board.

The Sweet 16 in and of itself was magical and should be valued to the highest degree, but some associate that whole season with success that matches the Sweet 16. We barely snuck in as the last team in the Valley and got in cause were hot in the last stretch.

Our season was about as successful the following NIT year, finishing with nearly the same record and rank in the Valley, and with arguably less talent...a remarkable coaching job!

I can't say enough about how elated I am to have won vs. the Redbirds, but the win is a bit overvalued in that winning home games in this rivarly should be a regular thing, not an exception. We could conclude that Geno is a great coach just because he was in charge of a team whose seniors had never tasted victory over the redbirds, but that is not a fair conclusion without other victories to back it up.

And you know what - we should learn to ignore certain people's comments instead of stoking that fire...after all, nobody has changed their views I don't think because of the back-and-forth, endless, and futile debate.

I agree with Bravesfan (which I often do not), that we feel we have to defend our position...like it's going to make a difference. I think that's the bottom line, and because it's a message board, there's that attraction and voice beckoning us to, "POST!, DEFEND!, WIN!, POKE!, JAB! FIGHT for your RIGHT...to Paaaaaarrrrr-teeee!!!" We're just passionate fans.

I don't necessarily mind (just MY opionion) the debate, but it gets infiltrated in too many threads and originates out of nowhere. If there is a separate thread pertaining to "coaching gripes & venting" (which probably is not going to be allowed), then I have no problem with that, as it belongs where it should. In the meantime, probably IS best to prevent it from its outset before it becomes out of hand.

Right. If you say the S16 and the lack of successive NCAA Tournament runs put together, then yeah, it probably was a bit overvalued. But just isolating on the actual S16 run in and of itself that particular year, no, it wasn't overvalued and worth every bit of fun excitement it brought. :)

Again I find myself agreeing heartily with you Bravesfan. What's up wit dat? :)

Your absolutely right. It will eventually come down to us beating the better teams in the conference, but I'm not sure it will happen this year, outside of maybe an upset or two at home. But that would hopefully be the beginning of a longer term trend.

And Muller having Hill sitting most of the game after his technical probably helped us a lot as well. It was a great break for us, but shows that this game might have turned out differently had he still been playing. But sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. :)

Couldn't agree with you more on this LittleBrave!

I think we agree on more than we think (I know there is one fundamental issue we don't agree on, but I think we are very civil to each other and others during our "debates"), and we just want to see people act professional here in our support of our team. And I was just about to post what you brought up as well. If people don't want to see threads like this grow out of control and devolve into more aruging (which is different from a civil debate), then they shouldn't keep posting to it. Very simple!

I'm trying to remember exactly what we do disagree about. :D Though I suspect it has something to do with the direction this program took a couple of years ago....oh wait. I better not post that. :D

I think we may disagree fundamentally on some issues, but agree with how people should conduct themselves when discussing these issues.

yeah...I know but my wife and I are now addicted....I'm just glad that Morton has official courts.....

It's the old-timers who picked the game up down in the Villages who brought it back to Morton. A few of those guys are in our Rotary Club over there.

This thread was about what?

Da Coach I say that you should stick a thread about the JL years at the top and if anyone wants to talk about it they can do there so the rest of us do not get stuck having to look at a pissing contest every other thread. I want a place where I can have a honest discussion and up to date information on BU and especially the basketball team.

Just a suggestion for some on this board. STOP getting sucked into discussions where the only reason they are doing it is, to stir you up! Yes. I'm blaming both side for instigating and continuing the drama. I've seen less drama from HS teenage girls! We all should be ashamed of our conduct. I'm done with this thread.

I like SFP's suggestion too. A sticky can keep the discussion about JL going, but hopefully keep it out of the other threads regarding a particular game or recruiting. I'm sure there are those who would like to continue to talk about him. But for those that don't, they can stay out of there.

I have a suggestion. I was against coach Les's firing but have never been against coach Ford's hiring. All of us who still wish to keep up with Jim's coaching can simply go on UCDavis's website which I do. No reason to bring up past history one way or the other. Too bad that many on here can't let it go. I did and if I can anyone can because no one was a bigger Les fan than myself.
