Thanks crowd

Young man, I've been going to Bradley games since before you were thought of and didn't miss a game until I retired and now I'm enjoying warm weather but missing watching the Braves. I've probably been to more road games than you have home games. If standing the whole game would make BU as successful as Duke, I'll gladly give up my Winter golf and stay in Peoria next season.

Sounds like my dad....God rest his soul!

This has to be my all-time favorite post!

JD, this sounds just like something my Dad would have said as well!;)

For a school/surrounding community that views Bradley MBB as an institution and something to be passionate about, its amazing how they can make 8,000 sound like 2500. At least thats what it sounds like from 2000 miles away on a 19" monitor streaming through the channelsurfing.net feed.

I've told Chico that he sounds like my dad also! He is a man of his generation.:D

Carver has always been the way it is since the beginning. It would be nice if the students had better seats but that never made a difference in our home court advantage. I'm going to have to believe that the students are not living up to their end. How many students are there at a game on average? It use to be that it was tough to get a student ticket unless you purchased a season ticket.

we can speculate if we want, but there's no guarantee if he doesn't fall down that they score...

maybe had he not fallen on the ball, then the ball squirts loose, Sammy recovers and goes all the way for a layup and gets fouled intentionally from behind (and this time they call it) -
so we get 2 shots & the ball then convert a 3 pointer on the next possession -
.........thus Marshall falling on the ball turned into a tremendous break for them - saving a 7 point swing in our favor!

Your act is tired and stale.

And you smell like beef and cheese. Santa doesn't smell like beef and cheese.

I don't see how t's view is any different than any other view of what didn't happen. It's like saying we absolutely would or would not have more wins if xxxxxxxxx was playing instead of sitting because of injury or suspension.

Crowd Apathy

Anyone know how many BU alums are in the Greater Peoria Area and how many of them make up the crowd at a typical' BU home game? With fewer and fewer BU alumni staying in the area after graduation, is the local active fan base declining?

For non BU alums, non BU related people, or transfers to Peoria area, BU MBB games are more a night out social event, not a life or death situation. This may explain the lack of total crowd support when things aren't particularly going well with BU or the opponent isn't considered 'big time'. A BU game is also a discretionary expense for them - and the economy/local employment picture is not real good right now for the 20-40 year old population in Peoria area.

When I was still in town, it seemed the crowds were made up of pretty old folks, which can also explain the apathy and early departures - WGN news at 9pm might be more interesting than the results of the BU game for folks who go to bed by 9:30pm... On the other hand, I also saw second/third generation BU fans there with their small/grade school age kids who want to get their kids home and in bed before 10:00 pm.

Demographics (and economy) may be affecting the size of the crowd and intensity of the support at BU MBB games...Just a thought...

Probably the best description and explanation I've heard of why Carver DOES NOT rock like the old Fieldhouse. I think you hit the nail on the head here AZ BU Fan! :)

Chico, the "You sound like my Father" coming from these guys is a good thing,
as I am sure they probably respect their dads! People on here respect you, your insite, knowledge of BU BB and player's history. There's NO questioning your devoltion and passion for BU BB:!: Nor is there any doubt you have been a true supporter and around BU BB for many, many years:!: I bet your right about going to BU BB games before most of them were thought of by their dad's:roll:
For some there may of been no thought but just happen:eek: JK JK
Enjoy the warm weather Young Man and hit them straight:!:

Thanks OOB. Didn't mean any disrepect to the poster, but didn't like it when he said I should stay home and watch the game on TV. Been nice here. Was supposed to get to 72 yesterday, but only made it to 69. Got a noon tee time tomorrow. You guys should hop on Allegiant and head out here.

Might I say again that I don't particularly like the pregame video or intro video and music...

Doesn't really give the crowd any extra momentum, even those of us who want to scream and cheer.

Whatever happened to having an ex-player make a short speech about winning tonight on the video before the game, it would be a lot better then watching our guys lifting weights . We do need a better intro in order to get the crowd going at the start.

I agree and especially remember DV's speech about the War on 74 before the isu game!

Yes, I agree...

For me, its either a yawn fest or a reason to pay attention to all the beautiful women around the arena :D

I would love to stand ALL game, EVERY game, but I am sure it would aggravate the much younger folks behind me.
At the Ind.St.game two ladies in their late 20's, who do not ordinarily sit 5 seats from me, asked two young ladies in their teens to SIT DOWN!
It is not an age thing, you can find lazy/out of shape people of all ages.

Because someone doesn't want to stand the whole game doesn't make them out of shape or lazy. It's just a difference in how people watch/enjoy a game. I never stand during games unless during certain times. The seats are there for a reason :) I understand that some do like to stand. I get it.

Its like the booing thing. I hate booing. I never boo. I've never booed Bradley ever in my life. I've never even booed ISU in my life. That said--if people want to do its their right to do it. More than one way to skin a cat I suppose.

A lot of good fans don't stand out of courtesy to the fans behind them. Many have to sit in front of the same people at every game, so they become friends, and don't want to inconvenience them.

My section knows, that NOBODY, ever better tell me to sit down!

I don't ever tell anyone to sit down, unless its "those" ppl who like to come in and out of the aisle in front of me 5 million times each time they decide they want to buy everything from concessions...

My theory is that unless you are a student, most ppl don't just stand up for no reason whatsoever. If they're standing, its probably for a good reason, and instead of ripping them, if you can stand up, then go ahead and do it!

The crowd over the years have reminded me of a crowd to watch a "professional" event, not a "collegiate" event. The atmosphere at the games aren't one of a true collegiate style.

Does that comparison make any sense? The atmosphere is just different than at many other home venues in the college game.
