The free BU car flags

Was this the worst promotion ever, or what...?

Last week they gave out BU car flags (sponsored by Methodist) "to the first 4000 people arriving at the arena"..
but one thing I noted, was that even at halftime and on the way out of the arena, the boxes of car flags meant to be given away were still full and stacked at the entryways.....they really didn't find many takers...
Even as I came in, most people were just declined taking one......who wants to roll down your window in this weather and put the thing on, and cause the window to fit poorly and get drafty!

Anyway...now we are several days later...and I tried looking as I drive all over the Peoria area...and I have not seen ONE SINLGE BU car flag yet.
(barring the one sitting on the floor in my car)
And I haven't yet found anyone else who has seen even one in use....has anyone else??

Well...the intentions were good, and I still apreciate that BU gets good sponsors who are willing to help with the promotions....
but I guess this will go down as one of the least popular giveaway promotions........

Maybe it has more to do with the fact that we're 6-7 and haven't won a home game in what feels like an eternity...

Most of the fans I have talked to lately at this point feel embarrassed to be recognized as a Bradley fan and thats just sad...

I remain a proud BU fan and I hope you and your friends stay ready to jump back onto the bandwagon shortly...

I've never fallen off T....

Just a little perturbed with the staff and the way they've handed in game situations....

I am and forever will be a Brave...

(Til I run into my fmr SLU classmates )

I agree and that is sad that people are embarrassed to be recognized as Bradley fans. Even Cubs' fans let it be known they are fans of that team! I still proudly wear my BU shirts and am taking one to work to change into for the game tonight.

Same here...

Wasn't the window flag thing started sometime close after 9/11 with the US flags? Add in another year or so for the "its ok to do it for things other than the American flag" to get going...So you figure the promotion is only about 8 years late...

I'll never shy away from saying that I'm a BU fan and alumni! Embarrassed about what? Last I saw I was not the one running up and down the court and playing. If I was a Tennessee fan that would be different. As long as team plays fair and never resorts to recruiting thugs I'll never be embarrassed. BU to me is more about a quality education and I'll never hang my hat on any sports team on how I feel about a place. I hate to say it but some people take sports way to serious IMHO.

Well, I like car flags a lot and will take yours if you don't want it.

Name another giveaway that you end up seeing paraded around town?

Count me in also in the crowd that likes the car flag. It's a lot better than some stupid sponsor laden "white-out" T shirt. I will proudly have my flag flying on the way to St.Louis.(and then proudly have it waving when I drive back Friday morning!)

I saw one just yesterday and know of two other folks who were at the game who have them up in their offices, or on billboards at schools.

Mine is going up in my office- as I don't generally use car flags.

I think its a nice thing as well and wish I had one when I travelled back in 06.

Hoping I see many when I show up tonight.

I also like the car flag. I was going to fly mine on the way home from the game on Friday, but after losing a 7 point lead in the last 90 seconds of the game, I was too mad.

Sad part of of this is they're actually paying somebody to dream up these ridiculously stupid promotions.

Next year...It sounds like a good BU car magnet might be the best option. However, I would like it to not have any sponsor images included.

I always enjoyed the player trading cards. What about somehow teaming up with Fathead, and creating some mini player or team giveaways. In fact, this something I would pay for.

well...since you asked....
I have never thrown away a game program or scoresheet and have multiple hundreds, as well as photo pocket schedules, and the little souvenier basketballs they throw out and sometimes give out for autographs.
I have seen multiple hundreds of people wearing one of the giveaway T-shirts from previous promotions...my own kids wear them all the time...and I not only own hundreds of sets of the player collector cards, I have even sponsored a few of those promotions, and occasionally give away some of the older ones as prizes in the pick-ems, and the winners are often quite excited to get them and are thankful.
All the Braves Club members get the windshield decal and I've seen hundreds, and I still use a BU key chain from so many years ago I can't remember how long...
I have a couple souvenier BU plastic drinking cups from many years ago we still use regularly, and my kids also still play with the gray "Throw me the Rock" basketballs that were part of a promotion way back in the Billy Wright era.

Went to see the movie Blindside yesterday afternoon and saw one in the parking lot of the Rave. You can find alot of those flags in Door County but they are Packer flags and in the Gulf Shores Al area you see alot of Rebel window flags like the ones given out the other night.
