Well with all due respect there's a difference in just screwing up and just not doing what you are supposed to do. If David does something right but doesn't execute very well I think JL gives him some slack, and has definitely in the past. If he isn't jumping for a rebound or to block a shot...which he is guilty of still (even in the ISU game)...then that's a whole other story and it needs to be pounded into his head that he can't do that...he needs to jump. He's had a year and a half now and JL has given him his fair share of chances. For the most part the last few games he has finally stepped up or at least improved. Now the question is will he be consistent with it or not. If not then you have to wonder how many times can you cut him some slack...he knows what he's supposed to do now; there's no way he doesn't....now it's time for him to prove he can do it. Simple as that.
I would not care if he only averages 4 ppg as long as he keeps getting 3-4 blocks/game, 5+ rpg, and not get burned on defense.
Maybe he could see some old films of David "Chainsaw" Winslow.
What slack are you speaking of? Thy guy is leading the Valley in blocks dispite playing two games less than his nearest competition. He is averaging the same amount of points and rebounds and assists ,as Singh plus the nearly two blocks as I mentioned before in just 14 minutes a game. Sam Singh has the same numbers with .75 blocks in close to 18 minutes. Somehow this causes Sam to have praise showered on him and makes David the scurge of Bradley?
Be a little realistic.
It is proably very frustrating for David. As a face up 4 forced to play the 5 in a one big offence and then to not have the freedom to make a mistake without getting the quick hook. Most senior players, especially the guards on this team seem to relish that perticular freedom. Shot blockers and 3pt. shooters need to feel relaxed and know that they can have a bad sequence or two and still be alowed to play through it. In many was David more than any other senior is trated like a freshman in that regard. I would suspect that is why he has not progressed as expected. If you are not going to give your senior center 23-25 minutes a game and at least 5 shots a game, how can he be expected to fix his problems?
I'll take that from DC anytime....
El paso with this one GTD.....
I meant for toughness and hustle... When Winslow set a pick, he meant it. When Winslow got a rebound, he meant it-nobody took the ball from him. When Winslow toughed up on defense, he meant it. Granted, Winslow was not a great player, but he was tough and played hard and THAT is what Collins does not do well.

They both need 23-25minutes agame and 5-6 shots each. This team will not take the next step untill that happens. Simple as that!!!!
He's got a higher ceiling than where he is at right now. Over the past year and a half he has stayed in after missing a rebound or having one taken away from him by a 5-11 guard that slaps him or by not blocking out or by not jumping or by setting a moving screen. That's "slack". But now he is improving and that's good..he's our starter he should have BETTER stats than SS and he'll get there if he keeps learning and trying each game consistently. He's a good guy and a good player.
