So you can use the rankings to take shots at JL (don't deny it, 9 years obviously corresponds to his tenure), but anyone who says we should be ranked higher, after gaining far more than we lost, isn't justified and we have no reason to be above 5th? Your logic is fair and sound. :rolleyes:
 
AMC - Apparently your opinion about BU gaining more than it lost isn't shared by a majority of the MVC media who voted :idea:.... Or they believe the teams above BU gained more than BU did...:idea::idea:

But what do any of the MVC Media voters know about basketball compared to the savants posting on this Forum! ;-);-);-)

Huh? Deny what?

Yes, it corresponds to his tenure. Why should Mo be invoked in this discussion? Should I just limit it to the last 5 years? Ok, fine. We haven't finished above the 4-5 game in that window either. Better?

All I did was comment that prognosticators have little reason to vote us any higher than 5th, as we've never finished higher than the 4-5 game in this regime. Not sure where the sarcasm regarding my logic comes from, I am merely stating a fact. That's generally what logic is based on. Doesn't mean we can't do better, it just means we haven't.

Ok, use that argument. But if you criticize coach Les ever for line-ups or subsitituions or recruiting your a huge hypocrite, he was an NBA player and an MVC player of the year.

Oh-uh... Looks like you may have broken that one...

No you commented that somehow we should be judging JL on preseason rankings. That's why I made my point.

I think MSU is getting pub because they started 14-0 playing a crap schedule and finished with 24 wins....or approximately those numbers......

Half these people look and say woah look at that record.

I would have to agree with AMC here.....

CR vs. DD (and another year of experience for every other player on the roster)

SS vs. JP (and another year of experience for every other player on the roster)

Add in WL as well.

I happen to believe we're better off this year. Again...maybe that's just me (and AMC).

isu, under Jank, has never finished lower than 3rd and have won at least 11 conference games each year. Why aren't they expected to do the same this year as every other year? Why the sudden lack of "logic" for them?

my point exactly -- there are teams with nothing to brag about any more than BU that do get notice from the media...makes me think the media is less informed that given credit for..

BTW - their preseason picks over the years haven't been all that accurate...

this is the first year they have lost 3 leading scorers and 85 percent of their scoring
 
I understand the placing of BU @ 5th..personally i have a feeling they will end up at 4 or 5. I think they have talent to be better than that but it seems to be a trend that something happens that prevents a high finish such as key injuries, etc. The voting seems fair as Asian put it the top 5 teams are close.

I can't convince myself this team will really fight for 1st because there always seems to be something missing. Even with 3 players that are in the top of the league; it's happened recently where we've had 3 top players and the results didn't follow. I guess it just goes back to what bradleybrave has said...they didnt vote for us because we haven't given them any in the last 3 or 4 seasons...we've consistently have had players in the top of the league and on paper look to contend and end up not..whether it's due to matters that can or cannot be controlled.

Fifth place seems about right in all honesty and I'd be surprised and happy for a top 3 finish and extremely giddy with a top 2 finish. If we finish in the top 2 I'd have to think it's because the league didn't get much better in the off-season rather than us getting that much better...jmho not that it matters
 
I would rather be picked 5th and finish 1st or 2nd then finish 5th and be picked 2nd. These ratings are pure guesses as none of the persons picking them have any idea on how much improved a team will be do to new personnel or because players just got a lot better, hopefully our guys should use it as a motivation by putting this prediction on the wall in the locker room and reading it right before the start of every game this season.
