Valley Media Day: BU Picked 5th

I wish we all seemed a little more excited for the upcoming season....like me....

If I came into this season "thinking" we would get fifth in the conference I would have zero enthusiasm and not even bother to post...

This team can compete with any in the conference....so winning the league is not IMO a fantasy.

I think you saw that attitude last year with the smaller crowds and quieter than usual arena.....many fans were wanting these guys to show what they can do. You could just sense it in the arena....as the losses/blown leads kept coming the crowds stayed away and those that kept coming got quieter.

I really think this team and this year is crucial to win some confidence back from the fans.....I think they can do it but I understand why so many are skeptical.

The Shox deserve the number 1 pre-season pick but come on with the rest. We killed CU inSt Louis and MSU has done zilch, zero and finished below us last year. UNI should get a bit of respect so I can't argue but they lost a whole bunch. Please no respect and our guys need to not just step out there every game feeling that way but every practice, shoot around, team meeting and even when they go on a date. Just kidding about the last one!

You keep spinning your opinions as facts, but I am finally going to have to call you on this. The attendance last year was not significantly changed from the previous couple years. Bradley's attendance continues to be strong, and is topped only by WSU and Creighton- 2 of the largest markets in the MVC, and cities many times larger than Peoria. The season ticket sales are not showing drops (there are waiting lists for lower bowl seats), which, if your imaginary theory was true, we should be seeing. Furthermore, monetary donations to the athletic department are at all-time highs--how can you explain that if the fan interest is down? Record amounts were just raised at the Braves Club auction, another baffling phenomenon if your fallacious theories were true.
The abysmal economy had far more to do with any difference in attendance, and yet the difference in Peoria was still much less than it was in most other MVC cities.

I am with Dogs, a lot of no shows from seson ticket holders, created many empty seats..Games that used to draw 10k drew 8 k/
Perrenial sellouts SIU and ISU, did not
Crowed enthusiasm was lacking! Worse than normal!
Monetary donations up, so where opportunities to domate ie building.
Auction had great opportunities/
Red and White always drew well over 2,000 draws under 2k in new arena.
I talk to a lot of , Bradley Fans" and you can feel the complacency setting in, including my own!.

I think that is a very small sample size (if DC and T aren't allowed to cite the people they talk to, which is undoubtedly larger than any of us, why should anyone else). And I agree with DC, the numbers don't lie, attendance is 3rd in the MVC, and we're doing very very well considering the current economic situation.

I agree 100%! I don't understand why most "experts" have us at fourth or fifth again. I think third minimum is where we should finish, but obviously most of the national pundits, and even MVC media and coaches feel we are a middle of the pack team again.

I'm just wondering what "deficiency" these people feel we have that is holding us back. I understand picking WSU and MSU ahead of us, and maybe UNI, but Creighton? Why the love for this team that was pretty thin last year as it was, and with a new albeit good coach coming in. He's still a new coach nonetheless that will need a year or so to get familiar with what he has. But someone has got to explain why we are getting picked so low.

For the past 4 or 5 years we get picked 4 or 5. Bradley fans complain that we are better than that. Then we fullfill the prophesy and finish 4 or 5.
Simple, Stupidity is doing the same thing and then expecting different results

The one thing I agree with you is that "it is what it is".
Somehow you rationalize the huge donations in the past couple years by saying it's because there were building projects, and you rationalize the huge donations last Friday night by saying there were "great opportunities". I guess these examples had nothing to do with the fact that fan support for Bradley is still very high, not dwindling like you believe.
BTW, I can play the rationalizing game, too...the increase in no-shows is because more home games are on TV, and parking spots close to the arena are scarcer.
Again, the things that matter when it comes to support is how money is coming in (all-time record highs), and paid attendance and season ticket sales (not dropping despite your impressions of dwindling fan support).
Why can't detractors see how they rationalize things so they can justify their negative sentiments toward BU?

You obviously missed the lesson in logic.....JL's teams ALWAYS finish in the middle. I have no idea what the "experts" are thinking when it comes to isu, since Jank's teams ALWAYS finish ahead of us.

I have had 4 seson tickets for 14 years, I have had 4 tickets to the Mo. valley tournamnet for 12 year. went to Vegas last year my
wifes licence plate is bu fan 83. I have 3 Bradley sweatshirts and 2 bradley sweaters. i go to the smoker.
I go to the exhibition games.
Negative? I think I..see what I see and hear what I hear.

I will say one thing about you Da Coach you are the AAAAAAAAAAAAA #! Bradley Fan. Whoa is he who makes any disparaging remarks about anything Bradley. True or not!

not sure I care where we are picked..although I love being the underdog...

To me this is a big season for BU...the senior leadership should give us a HUGE advantage...if WE, TB, JP give us quality minutes...we will contend...don't care what anyone else thinks.... :)
