Where is the drive-by media?

The paper can't win for losing. maybe they are working on a story but are having trouble getting factual info. If they come out with one now we will say it was because of message board pressure..

They very well could be working on a story. That would be great. I don't care if it's because of message board pressure, barometric pressure, or high blood pressure, I would just like to see what they have to say about the whole thing.

And there very well could be a variety of reasons why she has burned through AD's. Wouldnt be a bad thing to find out exactly why each was let go or decided to move on.

I agree houston. This woman is coming around asking for my money, I would like to know why she's kicking people out of their offices without even giving them the courtesy to say their goodbyes to the staff they've worked with for 13 years.

I agree with you.....but it would have been better to find out before she was hired. After the fact makes it much more difficult to handle

The question is--will anyone Glasser, KK, Virnette, Les, DeRose, etc. give a real, honest answer about what went on? I highly doubt it.

Ken is doing the smart thing. He is taking the high road. Just be gracious in your new job and get out of dodge. No reason to burn bridges.

I guess my point was it's only Monday and this all came to a head on Friday basically, so from a time perspective there hasn't been alot of time for fact finding

I am very glad KK could accept a new position. He has a chance to get away from whatever bad situation was brewing here. Sounds like he was being railroaded, so he jumped on the train instead.

True lefty but the KK-Glasser saga was about the worst kept secret in town. This thing has been going on for six months +. Like many things on the Hilltop they seem to think no one knows about this stuff when in fact its quite the opposite.

I'm sure the media people have known of the rift for quite some time.

maybe but there wasn't that much mention of it other than the couple of b-ball incidents. It's not been on this board until the FGCU situation came up.

Understood but this board doesn't allow that kind of gossip talk (I'm not complaining, it's just a board rule). This wouldn't be the place to find/hear that kind of information.

This board doesn't allow the BU gossip talk without backup info. I have no problem. That's the moderators perrogative. But there is a lot of BU talk/discussion that doesn't happen on this board.

Lefty--I love your 3 posts on the first page of this thread. But I disagree with one of them...

No way message board pressure causes the paper or media to do anything. We need to remember that us measly posters, though passionate, make up probably .005% of the populace. While we like to think of ourselves as representative, we're not and the media realizes that.

That said, we're likely the ones who buy a paper because of this kind of drama.

And on the point of the BOT knowing that potential President Glasser had of high turnover of administrators was well known. But many of those people also went to bigger and better things, as well.

She had near unanimous support of the BOT and selection committee (with one exception) and retains yet unanimous support from the Board of Trustees.

Great post Southpaw. While the message board crowd can be loud, it isnt very representative in the grand scheme of things.

I should clarify.....sometimes it has been mentioned here that nothing was ever printed until it came out on the message board....I really wasn't implying that it was true as much as some saying it has been the case

KW is always on top of everything else that is negative for BU, especially since Jim Les was hired, why not now.

He was in Texas for his son's graduation. He made a short mention of the KK-JG situation on his blog.

ADD: However, that's not to say that he would've written something had he not been gone. Some people earlier in the thread made note of a couple possibilities — timing (late in the week) and hesitancy of sources to go on the record about things. Perhaps the PJS is working on something. Perhaps it's not. I guess we'll wait and see.

I knew mentioning KW would bring you out. If this has been waiting to happen as some posters say, I'm sure KW and his staff knew about it.

It "brought me out" because I could answer your question. Maybe KW or other people on the PJS staff had an idea KK wouldn't be back, but it's silly to write an at-length article ahead of time on something that may or may not happen. How do you interview someone for a story like that? ("Hey, can I quote you on KK and JG's relationship for a story we'll run in case KK leaves?") Except for obituaries, it's not an easy or sensible thing to do. Wait until something happens, and if it does happen then you can go about your business.

I think the problem with the writing of an article is exactly that they would have no sources, especially that would have gone on record.

And the funny thing is, that most of the people on this board would then have been complaining that what was being written was hearsay, as it would have been.

... that they would have no sources, especially that would have gone on record....

like that's ever stopped anyone?
who was the source of the ligature marks?
who was the source of Suggs' confidential and federally protected drug test result??
who was the source for the erroneous reports of Bruce Weber's "N"-word use or Manual Cass' commitment to BU?
