Is this an inside joke? I don't get it.
Anyway, when it was stated that he was from the class of 2000, I looked up this old page from the now-defunct site Illinois High School Elite
Here are the top high school players in Illinois from that class of 2000--

A couple were really good like #1 Darius Miles, who went right to the NBA, and #5 Dwayne Wade, who is an NBA superstar. But what I find interesting is how many of the top players never had much of a career beyond high school.
#2 Andre Brown played a few years in theCBA and Europe, then has been a reserve with 3 different NBA teams the last 3 years.
#3 Cedrick Banks had a decent career at UIC, then played in Europe. He was the Player of the Year i the French Pro B league in 2005-2006, then moved up to the French Pro A league where he is still playing (the same league as Marcellus Sommerville).
#4 Imari Sawyer was very talented, but after a couple trouble-filled years at DePaul, he left school and was never able to hook on with a pro team anywhere. Last reported he was lighting up the scoreboard in the Chicago Park District.

a few more on the list had decent college careers, and may be playing pro somewhere, but many more disappeared.
Note Phillip Gilbert at #32 and Jabbar Battle at #26.
