Anthony Parker, Dwayne Funches, Deon Jackson, Billy Wright, Chad Kleine, and many others including James Baptist!!
If those teams during the peak of the Molinari years were, in your words, "marginal", then I can only wonder what word you are going to use when all's said and done, about Osiris Eldridge's years with no NCAA notice and a couple bad losses in the NIT!
 
Back to the stats, figures, and precise, indisputable numbers, that the ISU fans either dispute or ignore...

I already cited OE's numbers against post-season caliber opponents...and they are not too impressive-

usually the big time players come up big when it counts...

Osiris Eldridge has also played in a few non-conference games over his career against teams that are inside the top 40 RPI
(and there aren't many because of ISU's terrible scheduling) and in Valley Tourney semi's and Finals....
and I figure those are the most important games against the strongest opponents...
games where ISU really needed a great performance from OE...
so I went back to his freshman year and here are OE's stats in all those such games....

2006-2007 -
11/13 vs Florida State, 0-4, 0-3 from 3pt, 2pts (L)

2007-2008 -
11/23 vs. IU, 3-10, 0-5 from 3pt, 7 pts (L)
3/8 vs. UNI, 5-16, 3-7 from 3pt, 13 pts (W)
3/9 vs. Drake, 6-17, 2-9 from 3pt, 14pts (huge 79-49 L)

2008-2009 - (no games against Top 40 teams)
3/7 vs.CU, 8-14, 4-5, 21 pts (W)
3/8 vs. UNI, 8-19, 5-14, 21 pts (L)

combined stats in these games ..30-83 (36%), 14-43 (32.5%), 13 ppg



so I know I have arbitrarily selected these games, but you know...this is what the evaluators look at...
these are the games where the TV cameras are rolling and the scouts are present...
OE's combined stats for all these games from both of my posts...
(arguably) the NINE MOST IMPORTANT games of Eldridge's career--
44-143 (30.7%), 20-71 (28.1%), and barely into double figures scoring...as the team went 3-6.

Time will tell...and if ISU gets to the post-season in 2010, I wish them success and hope OE has great games,
because the Valley desperately needs a stronger image that'll be attained only with some
non-conference success and post-season success.
 
I truly did not mean to start a thread that would get ugly. I know OE is a great player and I would not have compared TB to him if I didnt think so. My point was that if you look at their stats you could make a case that TB is as good or better than OE. People on here have said that OE is a scorer but look at the PPG compared to the number of shots taken per game and I would take TB's numbers any day. was making a point that TB is a great player and he is only a sophomore, not that OE isnt a solid player.

Nothing wrong with "stirin up" the rivalry a bit...intended or not. :)

Again....OE is the better player right now but TB's ceiling is higher IMO.

Yep...and WITH OE ISU has gotten to a place BU can't seem to reach. Top 3 conference 2 years ina row and to the Valley finals 2 years in a row.

Maybe TB can get us there THIS year.

I'm only concerned about the present.....and neither TB or OE were around then. And the FACTS state BU no higher then 4th in the Valley with NO NCAA or NO Valley finals. ISU 2 trips to the finals and 2 top three Valley finsihes.

Facts....

They are neither pretty or ugly...just facts.

Another fact NEITHER ISU/BU to the ULTIMATE place...NCAA's. ISU has ONE more chance with OE...BU has 3 more with TB. Thats why I like Brown better. Not saying he IS better...just a higher ceiling with 3 more opportunities to shine.

Now get it done.
 
Kool-Aid drinkers of the world unite. TB while showing promise doesn't scare one team in thne MVC. NOT ONE! OE is a chucker, but the Creighton's, UNI's and SIU's....and BRADLEY's would no doubt find it a lot easier to beat ILSU without Eldridge than with him. Had he gone in the draft last year, no team would have been sad to see him go.

P'unk Stinnett has just as much talent as OE, but he's yet to live up to it in his career. The day "potential" replaces "actual" talent then we may as well give TB an NCAA championship, Gold Medal, NBA ring, Euro Championship and while we're at it let's put him in the HOF.

He may not be AP, but then again AP was no Hawk. Players are players. Comparing across era's or decades is stupid. Don't have time to look it up, but put TB's Frosh #'s up vs. OE, then put their numbers up through 7-8 games as Soph. and you got your answer. Eldridge has and still is getting better. TB still has some work to do!!!!!

I believe the original question/point of the thread was "Would you rather have Taylor Brown or Osiris Eldridge?"

Considering OE will be gone after this year and TB is just beginning his second season at Bradley, I would take TB without a doubt!

OE is getting better and TB is not....is THAT what you are saying. TB is shooting at a 60% clip....compare that to last year....look at his ppg compared to last year.....TB is improving.

BTW...I don't understand "OE has getting better"....that makes no sense.


OE is better...I agree.....EVERY player has work to do...OE, TB... I don't care WHAT the initials are.

The post was WHO would you rather have...OE or TB. Again I would take 3 years of TB vs the 1 year OE has left. IF OE doesn't get ISU to the playoffs thats a terrible waste of what many feel is the best player in the MVC.

TB still has 3 years left to try......

here's a trivia question..
what point guard in the MVC has the BEST assist to turnover ratio?

The answer is Eddren McCain...
(there is only one player better but he does not play primarily PG)

so will someone remind me why we keep seeing posts that comment negatively about EM?

That is completely off-topic, but because Eddren does not take shots if he life depends on it, and that allows a D to back off of him, but off the passing lanes and completely slow down our offense. EM's A/TO ratio is so high because when he's in the game no one can create their own shots.
 
Would have to take TB over OE, more overall contribution....

TB is #2 in the Valley in scoring avg YTD, and #7 in the Valley in rebounds per game YTD.

OE is 1st in the Valley in scoring avg YTD, but not in top 20 in rebounding..
 
Case and point:

TB average points per shot = 2.33 (wow are these stats right??)

OE average points per shot = 1.48

The reason TB isn't on the draft list is because he's a sophomore from the MVC; honestly who would expect a sophomore from the MVC to enter the draft?? He did not play much last year therefore he hasn't had any exposure. OE has been pretty sufficiently promoted especially with putting his name in the draft last year, and he's a senior, hence, his name is on espn's drafting report.
