I hope that comes to fruition, as I'd like to see EO play 20 mpg when we play you guys. He was horrible last year and I didn't see much potential in the instances he played. Of course, we had a big man last year who didn't do much better and has been riding the pine for 4 years now, though I think he'll be a bigger factor this season...a little bigger anyways.
b.t.w. - happy for you guys winning the NIT last year! Gonna' be tough to better that next season with all the key losses, but we'll see. Toure needs to step it up big-time, and I think he will.
I think he'll turn it around this year, EO that is. But that is the ever optimist in me. And thanks, I think we'll be better off than most expect. We return Ragland, Murry, and Kyles. All of which were great last year once Coach finally set the line up with Ragland being the PG, and not doing the switch between Point and Shooting Guard for Murry. That really hurt Murry's flow in the game, and didn't allow Ragland to have any confidence. I think Stutz and Hall will be great playing the post too. Its just the strongest part of our roster was our depth, and we won't have the roster next year to confidently put in any 9-10 guys.
In this issue of the Sun Times Hoops Report they express equal surprise that a kid would commit right now just as the hot and heavy July evaluation period begins...
"AAU scene hits Chicagoland this week
The all-important July evaluation period, where Division I college coaches are
finally able to get out and watch prospects in tournaments around the
country, begins July 6. ...
Interestingly, prior to Rockford Auburn's Fred Van Vleet committing to Wichita
State on Monday, there wasn't a single player in the Hoops Report's Class of
2012 Top 25 that had offered up a verbal commitment prior to the July
evaluation period."
so whatever the reasons -- kids committing at this time are in the minority...
I think that because it is so out of the ordinary, people are trying to find reasons why he did. Negative reasons, because Lord knows, a young man who is on top of his schooling, his basketball, and his life, can't just make a strong decision early in his recruiting time frame. That he found a program that was confident in him, and one that totally fit his personality and enjoyed the atmosphere. You know what I mean? There has to be skeletons somewhere. He has to be scared about showing off for big talent, he doesn't feel like he belongs in the BCS, etc etc. The list goes on that I've heard. And I'm not saying you feel this way haha. I've just seen a lot of talk around the web about how Fred committing so early is stupid etc. I think its stupid that people think that, I think he made a great decision, and more young men should follow his foot steps. You don't have to be Lebron James and have a press conference at the last minute to tell where you're going. So many people are worried about image and flash these days, and I personally think that how Fred handled the situation speaks volumes to the fact that he is all business, he wants to win, he's confident in WSU and the Coaches, and he is ready to come in and play right away, but understands he is a team player and will be a situation guard or a back up his Fresh year, if they don't redshirt him, since his Freshman year he will be behind Demetric Williams, who will be behind Malcolm Armstrong.
