Will Egolf's fouls

Big Lance

Here's what I would do if I were the coach

I would play him as if he had 0 fouls for the entire game. Give him his normal rest, but other than that, I wouldn't sub him out due to fouls. If he fouls out in the first half, as he might, then he could walk himself over to the bench and watch the whole doggone second half. Seriously, I would do this. Nothing is getting through to this guy. Honestly, I don't see what difference it would make if he plays his 20 minutes in the first half or in 5 4 minute spurts. 20 is 20 is 20, and maybe just maybe it would send him a message to wake up and just not foul.

It's not like he is without talent and skills. And he's not dumb. That's what makes this so unbelievable! We need him on the floor!

Continues to commit dumb fouls so his basketball iq is very low, somebody please tell him he is letting his team down by not being on the floor as much as needed, no doubt he has talent which is why he needs to get 30 minutes of playing time a game.

He just picked up a charging foul heading to the restroom during a commercial of the Saints/Seahawks game. This morning he picked up a reaching foul on his towel, and to make it worse he was 25 feet from the shower.

As much as I hate singling out any one player, I have to agree. :? We need the guy on the floor for at least 25 a game to have a chance with JP another 15-20.

:)
That's the problem with taking SS's #54. The refs feel obligated to give it 3 moving screens before the game starts, so it only takes 2 actual fouls to foul out...

I just got a GREAT laugh from this! But seriously.... he has got to stop fouling, and putting himself in position to look like he may be fouling. By now refs know that he has foul issues so they look for it. Also as a team, I think we need to stop with the offensive fouls... I feel like we had like 8 against Drake yesterday and 4 from DSE....:eek:

Just sittin here watching ISU and SIU and some of the pitiful excusese for officials the MVC has. So, I was wondering how WE did in a real game with real officials and looked at box score from Duke. Duke not only has great athelets but great basketball players. WE played 31 min against them and had 3 pfs. I am not quite sure all his problems are well founded.

Maybe so but in all fairness, I have seen some of these ridiculous fouls with my own two eyes

He did it again last night in that he had 4 fouls and then gets faked out, leaves his feet and jumps into Koch for his 5th foul, I agree Valley officials call more fouls but his are usually correct and most are way away from the basket.

Agree with BUFan to a degree, BUT, all players have to adapt to how the officials are calling the game.

Yes! I also was watching the UCONN - TX game and I can say the refs really let them play. I just wish the Valley refs could just let a bit of contact go. Besides his fouling dilemma I wish he would take it hard to the rim. One thing I notice from the BCS bigs is that they are not tentative to slam it home. Do we have someone that can take a pass and go straight up and dunk it with two hands? The best dunk to date was from AW.

Since AWis so good with a shot fake and drawing a foul, make WE defend AW.
If WE leaves his feet, he has to run to the other side of the Gym and kiss a picture of Sarah Palin.

LOL

That would certianly work to keep me from leaving my feet, but what if Will likes it? He may like those Alaska mommas.

In the autograph line during the presidential race, I asked him about the candidate from his home state. He politely said that it was interesting to have a VP candidate that watched some of his HS games.... But I got the feeling he was not really a fan of her..

Take politics aside Sarah Palin is not ugly. IMO if you shut her up she would be quite attractive. Librarian type.:-o

I agree that it does seem once you get the reputation for fouling, the refs watch you a little bit more.
This statement has some truth but, usually the people you keep an eye on is because of their reputation and because they are nasty players. WE is not that in what I have observed. Most of his fouls are just plain stupid period. The number of fouls would be cut if we would learn how to set legal screens but, thats a different story.

All screening the ball seems to do is change a one-on-one opportunity into a more difficult and congested 1 on 2 :/

Bradley has been HORRIBLE at setting high screens with a 5 since Les started using the offense. My solution to the fouls...

Stop moving the 5 from the baseline to the key to set the screen. Either start with the 5 high at the key and only move after contact with the defender or STOP using the 5 position as high screeners. I personally hate using 5's as screeners unless it is used to get the ball to the screener on a roll to the basket.

We love to screen then continue to dribble and not use the screener as a viable scoring option.

Also Eglof has been playing college basketball for what 3 years? and he still leaves his feet when defending someone on a shot fake. Stop leaving your feet. Get set, close out but stop jumping to try and block a jump shot. If the guy shoots it and makes it fine but giving the foul on a shot fake is something that should be eliminate by Varsity High School level.
