Boy, if they wanted to go "in-house"... they coulda gone "in-house" and juiced KK's contract. Whatever this article wants to say about VH-B, then the same coulda been said (and more) about KK.
Don't get me wrong.
I am not against VH-B. I like her and if she is the best replacement, then I back the decision to make her AD completely.
Sorry electricmayhem. Honestly, IMO... yet another piece of journalism that is lacking.

I'm not sure where all this is coming from... I'm still operating my site to try to increase the audience for BU sports. I agree... to do all opinion pieces makes it a waste... that's why I try to throw some analysis, previews, etc. in there.
If you have any suggestions, feel free to PM me.Don't putt until the cup stops movin'

I don't pretend to know what the problem was with KK. Obviously, someone wanted him gone, otherwise they would have tried to keep him. Agree?
He said it's the first time in his 13 years that he looked at another job. I don't know why the didn't want to keep him.Don't putt until the cup stops movin'

But to sit here and read an "opinion" piece championing VH-B as if KK didn't share the same views and goals for BU is a joke.
So maybe I am on page with ya.
But then I think of this "opinion" piece and can sense some underlying agenda.
Oh, but wait... wait... err... no, no... errr... that's not what was meant. Not at all. The "fake-n-move". Stick the fork in and back-paddle and claim that wasn't what was meant.
The Nit-Pik-n-Gotchya crap going on this world anymore makes me want to puke. And the Drive-by Media steamrolling it.

Its ONE man with an opinion......agree...disagee.....thats whats great we all get to express our opinons and don't have to be puppets or so weak minded that we are influenced by another man's thoughts OR be worried that others may be influenced by them.

electricmayhem- nice article. And thanks for the plug.
But one statement in your at=rticle is a little misleading.
You said-
Granted, Nester has just three years of life in Fort Myers, but she was one of the four finalists, which speaks either to the relative weakness of the candidate pool...
I am not sure what you meant to imply with that statement, but it is misleading. Some might take it as a bit of an insult to Ken Kavanagh, suggesting he might have gotten the job only because the pool of applicants was "weak".
One of the articles from Florida said there were 176 original applicants. It took many months to trim those down to the 4 finalists.
It is a very desirable job, and that is a massive number of applicants for such a position. I don't know exactly how many people usually apply for a Division I AD job, but I would be willing to bet it isn't usually such a huge number of people.

and the job at FCGU comes with a couple nice incentives...
it is a relatively start-up college athletic program...just right for someone who wants to build it to his own specifications...
it is in a tremendous area, beautiful, growing, and a place where the economy has not hit nearly as hard.
it also pays $170,000 and offers a five year contract...this is in the 90th percentile in the US for colleges of a similar size/stature

salaries are hard to compare, since the guys at the BCS schools earn 2-3- to even 5 times this amount, drawing the averages up...
but among non-BCS positions, very, very few without major FB programs are at $170,000.
here are some comparisons from similar sized schools.......from a Jan. 2009 article
