It looks like Missouri State has their new head coach. Former ISU player and assisstant Dana Ford, who most recently coached at Tennessee State, is reportedly the new head coach for the Bears.

And it is looking like Walter McCarty, currently an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics, and formerly a high school star in Evansville, will be the next head coach at University of Evansville.
Calbert Cheaney, the early frontrunner, was asking a bit too much money for his salary and the salaries of his staff. Plus, the Evansville beat writer reports that Cheaney "just did not have the 'Wow' factor. He didn't want to schedule tough or make many public appearances."

the record is unimpressive considering the one good year in 2015-16 when Tennessee State went 20-11,
was when Dana Ford went for the QUICK FIX by taking in 4 transfers and 6 juco kids - and they had a good year...
but as expected, that quick fix did NOT last and in 2016-17 they dropped back to 17-13
then this year they dropped back even further to 15-15....
I know it is a hard place to recruit to but almost every contributing player he's ever landed there
was a transfer with only a year or two of eligibility or a juco....he has eight more of them this year...not sure that's gonna work in the MVC

Walter McCarty is officially going to take the Evansville job. Unless Niko bolts for CSU after one year at Drake, all 10 Valley Schools have their head coach for next season in place.

I expected this - since Niko knows he's losing just about everybody this year and starting from scratch with 7 new incoming, untested freshmen next year -- Niko's following the Keno Davis philosophy of
"strike while you have just one pretty good year because they won't ask next year"...

If you were Moser and got offered $2M+ would you leave Loyola? I would.
And I think Geno would be a good fit at WCU. I hope he gets another shot somewhere.

If I were Moser, I would take it too. He has been there 7 years and I think everyone at Loyola would understand if he did.

That is interesting because no matter what they pay him - even if it's just $1/year, Tubby still collects $3.25 million per year for each of the next 3 years thru 2021...
