Southern University fired their Interim Head Coach Morris Scott, and hires
former Morehead State head coach Sean Woods.
Current assistant coach Chrys Cornelius, who worked at Green Bay under Brian Wardle, and who also was a former WIU & EIU assistant, will leave and take an assistant coaching spot in the G-League.

Interesting rumor developing....

Siena head coach Jimmy Patsos had a down year - 8-24 after 38 wins over the prior two seasons...

so there was already a little grumbling about how long were they gonna give him...
then this - ANONYMOUS SOURCES - say he is abusive towards players...
(the sum total of the allegations is that he uses a few "F-words" and is harsh on occasions)

THEN this - Patsos and the entire Men's Basketball team cancel their appearance at the already booked & sold out POST-SEASON BANQUET!!


NOW here's the latest chapter - they are trying to work a deal to buy him out, quietly send him on his way - then hire...

Yes, he was an assistant at ISU for one season, 2015-16.
He is also a former assistant and a part of the coaching tree of Emmett Davis (Colgate), Doug Wojcik (Tulsa), Shaka Smart (VCU), Kevin Stallings (Pitt), and Mike Rhoades (VCU again).

Siena is reportedly closer to hiring Jamion Christian as their new head coach, but apparently it is not finalized yet.


And this is interesting- Chicago State University just hired former Chicago Bear defensive lineman Chris Zorich as their new Athletic Director. They fired men's head basketball coach over 6 weeks ago and still have not hired a new coach.

The Chicago State men's team went 3-29 this past season (1-29 against D1 opponents). Their 3 wins were against Silver Lake College, East-West College, and their last game of the season was a 96-82 "upset" of UMKC.

The Chicago State women's basketball team went 1-29! CSU fired their head women's basketball coach at the same time 6?? weeks ago, and still have not hired a new women's coach either.

And not to be outdone, their women's soccer team was 1-19-0 this past season! Good luck to Chris Zorich!
 
No one wants to coach at CSU. This is a dead end job if there ever was one. I can't understand why CSU is in Division I yet can't pull together a decent season to save their lives. I guess besides no one wanting to coach there, no one wants to play there, either.

Why don't they simply drop down to Division II or III? Maybe NAIA sports would be better for them.

And head coach Tim Miles is reportedly going to replace him on the staff with ARMON GATES
What makes this interesting is that if this happens, then it will be the THIRD staff Armon Gates has worked on in just the past month, and the 7th different staff he's worked on in the past 10 years (WKU, Kent State, TCU, Loyola, Northwestern, Florida, Nebraska).

That, of course leaves Iowa State with an open spot on their staff right at a bad time headed into the hottest recruiting period of the year.

-So Iowa State's head coach Steve Prohm will soon hire a new assistant.
Rumored to be at or near the top of the list is Northern Iowa's assistant Kyle Green - who has experience in Power Conferences and who has strong Iowa & midwest recruiting connections - LINK

- The lure of a Big 12 spot and likely triple the salary is kinda hard to pass on, so if Kyle Green leaves UNI to go to Iowa State, in all likelihood, his son, 4-Star rated AJ Green, who is currently pledged to UNI, would then be very likely to ask for release and go to Iowa State.

- this isn't just some wacky speculation, the same site also knew in advance that Texas was going to hire away the Iowa State assistant & they were right- LINK

- one more thing, Iowa State head coach Steve Prohm recrutied AJ Green hard and really wanted him -

-if so, that would really hurt UNI's incoming recruiting class...

-what's additionally interesting is that TWICE BEFORE Kyle Green was on staff as an assistant at UNI then left for another job - once in 2003 to take an assistant spot at Marquette, then when that coaching staff got fired, he went back to UNI and actively campaigned to get the Green Bay job (that instead went to Brian Wardle) then he did leave again to take a DII head coaching job
 
a name that comes up every now & then for moving up..
is Levelle Moton...head coach at NC Central - who have won 132 games over the past SIX seasons (average 22 wins/season) & he has 3 NCAA appearances in the last 5 years!

but NCAA just hit them with penalties wiping out wins from 2012-13...
but nobody in the MVC lost to them (both Drake & Wichita beat them).
The penalties are due to "paperwork errors that allowed ineligible players to play in games".
