BracketBusters 2009

Not that it really matters, but I was looking back at my projections and realized... doesn't ESPN2 carry 6 games and then ESPNU carries 5? Not a big deal... swing one of my U games up into ESPN2.

I'm gonna sleep on this, chew it up a little, see how it feels... maybe change my final projection tomorrow... but doubt it.

Just gonna wait and see what we get.

And if I am "wright" about ours... I am throwing out all sharp objects in the house before that game.

Rumors begin to abound.

Per CAAZone, Niagara and whoever they play is a Friday game (scheduling conflicts). Also, another rumor that Siena has the ESPN2 Friday game.

Creighton is apparently tumbling down the board because of schedule conflicts, which leads me to believe:

a) They're not getting a west coast team like we thought,
b) It may be a Sunday game,
c) How can you tumble down the board with that weak a crop of teams?

FWIW, somebody has posted on the CU board that we are getting the 8:30 game. No opponent was identified yet.

I'm waffling on mine:

Butler @ Davidson
Utah St @ Creighton
Northern Iowa @ St Mary's
Northeastern @ Siena
VCU @ Evansville
George Mason @ Nevada
MiamiOH @ Niagara
Illinois St @ Fairfield
Buffalo @ Wright St
Boise St @ Portland St
UW-Green Bay @ Vermont
North Dakota St @ Long Beach St
Bradley @ Drexel

With our luck we'll end up with Tennessee-Martin or San Diego. I want Drexel as much as the next person, but don't be surprised if we get someone like those first two.

If we fall out of TV range, San Diego wouldn't be terrible. Reasonabe opponent for next year, good conference, no RPI hit, could be a quality win by the end of that year.

If we have to play an OVC team for the 2nd time in 4 years, we should immediately withdraw from BB.

You're right about San Diego. They are one of the better teams in the WCC behind St. Mary's and Gonzaga, and they upset their way into the NCAA Tournament last year.

The OVC however is about as bad as it's ever been, and getting worse! Playing anyone from there would be terrible for us.

I'd rather have Wright St than Fairfield.

And Drexel over both.

I love the Horizon, but dammit, 5 games last year and 3 this year against that league. I swear to God, no more.

Wright State or Drexel may be the best we can hope for...

Just please, please don't let it be another OVC school. If it ends up being UT-Martin, I will be less than pleased.

I don't understand where all this buzz about UT-Martin is coming from.

I know I will be surprised with matchups. Always am. But I will be stunned/shocked and in denial for about an hour if we get UT-Martin.

Where you getting that TAS? You getting a leak? You got a funny feeling? Or is it just gas? :-P

I'm sure as heck not the one creating the UT-Martin buzz.

Silly Idaho makes the first leak. It's not much of one though.

Confirms Nevada, Boise St, Utah St. Yawn. It may hurt slightly in that we may have been competing with Boise for one of the 13 road slots.

Well.... thanks for the update TAS. I was figuring Nevada and Utah St for tv and Boise St as a good possibility.

Btw - I believe Peoria's cable doesn't provide ESPNU. But I get my cable from Mediacom - so I DO have the U. Have you got the U?

I have Time Warner Cable, which is even worse than Comcast or anything else. But I have The U.

UNI is playing at Siena. (at least that is rumor).

Great get for UNI.

Not so much for Siena. (at least according to the RPI)
