Bradley hires new coach- Geno Ford

Bradley Fans concerned!
When will salvation arrive?
Serenity now!

Congratulations to BU AD and President on finding a new coach for BU worthy of handing the program over to.

"Geno Ford, 'Built for the road ahead (to the Final Four)' "

"Geno Ford, 'Winning is Job #1' "

"Geno Ford has a better idea!"

Cat Racing will have to dump Chevy and get on board backing a Ford!

Welcome to the Hilltop Mr Ford! Good luck to you and your family!

PS all the aforementioned slogans have been copyrighted for future licensing to BU for marketing purposes! With any luck I will be able to afford lower bowl seats inside the baseline and the airfair from PHZ to PIA to watch future BU Games!

WHEW FINALLLYYYYYYY LOL. For all the knock on Glasser being dirty behind the scenes, I think she at least needs to be complimented on being determined to find a good coach and raising the salary bar higher than what she gets paid..... Unless she got a raise along with it LOL.

Usually 1st year coaches don't make a huge impact, so i'll let Geno slide this next season, but he better give me some results the season after.

Jason

Seems to be a good hire but only time will tell. I hope he blows away all of our expectations.

I would also be impressed if all these Junior members stick around throughout the year. It seems there has been an uptick of new members the last few days.;-)

It's going to a lot harder for him to use the Ferrari line with recruits.

And here is an old article from ESPN listing coaching trees for some prominent coaches. Geno Ford comes from the Rick Pitino/Herb Sendek/Jim Christian coaching tree, though Ford never worked with either Pitiono or Sendek-

How did we miss this guy as a prospect? ..
ahem.....first, I am not so sure we missed him...we were discussing him before he was hired, but also -- he wasn't hired until after several other candidates came & went....

One more tidbit of information- Kent State, despite winning the MAC for the last 2 years, only averaged 3,464 fans per game at home. Coach Ford should be pleasantly surprised with the crowds at the Civic Center.
....he'll even be thrilled at the crowds at the Renaissance Arena

(Senderoff)He was the fall guy. But I suspect he may have been thrown under the bus. He has an impeccable reputation before and since that time...
..according to the NCAA investigation, Senderoff was definitely (knowingly) involved in many of the impermissible phone calls while he was at IU - but he's learned from it...and won't get caught again

ahem.....first, I am not so sure we missed him...we were discussing him before he was hired, but also -- he wasn't hired until after several other candidates came & went....

According to Dr. Cross this morning, Coach Ford was the ONLY person offered the job as Bradley HC...so there was a lot of misinformation out there.

Seems pretty clear to me...

"We talked with a number of different people throughout this process," Cross told the Journal Star. "But I only offered our head-coaching position to one candidate, Geno Ford. He was one of the coaches I targeted from the beginning."

Yes sir. It is crystal clear.

Yes sir. It is crystal clear.

since you seem so trusting of the PJS and other media sources......then add this to the mix...FWIW -- personally I think we are playing word games here..
I think everyone knows that Jeter, Sutton, and other got some sort of OFFER but so be it -- Cross is certainly free to say what he wants....

Kirk Wessler said that after several candidates turning Bradley's offer down...
"They’re in the middle of the crossover possibilities and dominoes now..
Two confirmed interviewees, Rob Jeter of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Scott Sutton of Oral Roberts
Bradley has interviewed BYU associate head coach Dave Rice
...Bradley has been
offering a package worth upwards of $750,000 annually."

Then Dave Reynolds said...
" Oral Roberts men's basketball coach interviewed with BU last weekend in Denver and declined an
offer to become the next Bradley coach because he wasn't sure of the fit, according to a source close to the Sutton family"

The Trib reported..
" the Braves top choice, Wisconsin Milwaukee head coach Rob Jeter, spurned a big
offer this week and chose to stay with the Panthers"

a Tulsa reported also said...
"Sutton interviewed for that school's (Bradley's) opening last weekend in Denver and rejected an
offer earlier this week."

and this sources says the same...
"Oral Roberts coach Scott Sutton turned down an
offer believed to be worth more than $600,000 last week."

I don't care who was offered what and turned it down. I think we got someone better than those guys. Maybe it was just meant to work out this way.

I'm sure some people will choose to believe whatever they want. I heard the Bradley AD state on radio this morning that Geno Ford was the ONLY person to be offered the job as Bradley HC, and I provided a quote from the paper that says the same thing. This is what I choose to believe...no matter how many links to other "sources" of information are provided.

Now...let's get on with the business at hand! I wish Coach Ford nothing but the best and hope he can get this program to where it deserves to be...at the top of the MVC!! :)

Because of the situation, we'll never know who was given the opportunity to coach the Braves. I do fully believe that financial packages were discussed with candidates and that it can be the legal splitting-of-hairs that determine what an offer is... (though verbal offer, to me, would be included in the statement Cross made that no other offers were made)

But we'll never know.

So let's just realize that and keep going on the excitement that we have direction (phone just autocorrected that to "erection" -- glad I caught that!). What I found interesting was Cross's mention that he will be meeting with the assistants and that no assistants place here is set in stone. Hope Willie stays though!
