Fife in Peoria today

I have no idea if Fife would be a good coach for Bradley. Maybe he'd be great, maybe he wouldn't.

However, I'd expect the hire to be someone in a certain pay range - Fife would fit that range.

The guy is coaching at IUPU-Ft. Wayne for crying out loud, give him a break! ITs not like he was recruiting to Bradley or some bigger school without finishing higher than 4th. Geez, I agree with BradleyBrave, sounds like there is more support for Jim Les than for BRADLEY UNIVERSITY. And agreed with another poster, at least he has a winning record in conference.....

The fact of the matter is that Fife should not even be in our top five list for coaches to hire. An assistant coach yes... Head Coach-absolutely not!:roll:

BTW, I have relatives in New England who would laugh hysterically at Indiana being considered "East"!:)

Thank you, I am absolutely amazed after reading many posters comments about coaching candidates...how many approve of mediocre records, coaches that were just fired(there must have been a good reason), their salary fits in our price range, they know Bobby Knight, etc...Whatever happened to, this guy has a good record of accomplishment, he has done progressively better every place that he is gone, he graduates athletes, he knows how to win, he is consistently a winner, he has great experience......

Short of a miracle...something tells me this will be a controversial hire too...

I don't know. I assume They will hire the best man for the job, but I agree some fringe people will not like whoever is hired, just as some people did not like anything Jim Les did. I'll support whoever is coach, but I have said that since the beginning. I think JL deserved another year, I've said it since the beginning. I chuckle at the people that have totally changed their tune now that we don't have the same coach. On both sides. People who were once patient are now outraged, and people who were outraged are now patient. Silly little biases get everyone out of whack. I'm proud to say that I am in whack. Poor decision to let JL go because of 2010-11, but I will support the next guy as well.

Dane Fife's strong suit is he's a reputable guy -- no stains, and in all appearances runs a clean program...all good qualities that probably argue for at least including him on the list.....
but then other guys (named below) are also good guys getting mentioned........

ESPN's Doug Gottleib just apparently spoke to Kansas' Barry Hinson and then tweeted about Barry wanting the job at Bradley...and has apparently already declined an interview for the Oklahoma job!
"Barry Hinson is a candidate at Bradley. Will he get it? No idea, good man, Seth b4 VT was Barry at SMS"

...meaning he compares Barry to Virginia Tech's Seth Greenberg....
oddly -- Virginia Tech hired Greenberg from South Florida - where he had gotten 13 or 14 losses EVERY season in the FIVE years prior to getting hired away at V-Tech!
In fact -- one things about Greenberg -- in his first 19 seasons as a head coach (Long Beach St., S. Fla., V Tech) he NEVER once loss fewer than double digits...and averaged almost 14 losses per year!
he's a decent guy and good coach but his record is not overwhelming...
...there's also hinting that Keno might go to Missouri State if Cuonzo gets hired away...

SIU just hired a new assistant...Ron Smith -- former Rich Herrin assistant, ISU grad, who also assisted under McDermott at UNI,
but who's been out of college basketball for a few years...

I'm not sure I would hire Keno...for any job.
Keno's offense was so pretty the year of the Drake run...
I'd strongly consider Keno as an offensive coordinator, if such a position existed.
But otherwise as a whole package with D and recruiting..Keno is a bit too Albeck-like.

Barry Hinson and Dan Fife would not be an improvement in my opinion, we need to do better otherwise we will be looking for another new coach 4 years from now, just because these are great guys is not a reason to hire them, we need a bigger hire in order to have any chance at winning championships in the near future, neither one of these guys has ever won a title which should eliminate them unless BU is taking the cheap way out.

He does have an overall winning record in conference play though. That couldn't be said about his potential predecessor. ;)

Can we just change the name of the board to 'JimLesFans.com' already? A mediocre-at-best coach loses his job, and all of the sudden it's rip the president, rip the AD, rip potential coaching candidates, applaud when guys transfers or ask out of their LOI's, and pat posters on the back because of 'warnings' of some sort...I thought this board was founded to combat all of these things that used to go on at another forum. I guess not.

There have been more anti-Jim Les posts than pro-JL posts in the past 2 or 3 years, and that doesn't even include the multitude that have been removed, which were all anti-JL. And if the rules were changed to allow the kind of vitriol that the other board encourages, I am certain it would have been all anti-JL. But then it would have probably killed off the board if that were allowed.

And let's stop this ridiculous claim about Fife having a winning record in his conference. It was the freakin' Summit Conference! And it is not like he dominated the Summit. His record is 37-35 (4 years in the Summit)! Jim Les would get skewered for losing games to the likes of Centenary, WIU, and South Dakota State, yet Fife has lost to those types of teams 35 times in just the last 4 years!

He's interviewing for the Manual job too:D

Are you suggesting that Manual would be a step up from IPFW? Wayne McClain thought it was a step up from his assistant job at Illinois a few years ago when he considered taking the job.
