Final: BU 63 UIC 62

Huge games by Walter (22 pts & 4 stops) and DSE (17 pts) Today! TP &WE need to learn to control fouls.....hard to help your team sitting on the bench! Very Happy to Win this game....didn't look good......Criittle is a bum, replay showed him giving an elbow to JP after a foul and running his mouth, nothing said by the refs?

I heard him say we need an infusion of talent..
..as if D-I is filled with teams who are set with plenty of talent and don't need any more for years to come?
Of course we need some talent - a few of the guys that win games for us will be gone next year

I would guess that the announcer, David Kaplan, got his information from Dave Reynolds. Probably was told what a super job our "great" staff is doing without any talent. More handing out of Kool Aid. We have probably the best two guards in the league, adequate bigs and yet we are told we have no talent. Do we need more talent? Yes, we certainly do. Are we without talent? No, we have talent, just very little of it recruited by our "great" staff (according to that award winning sportswriter DR.) Spin, spin, spin.

While i can see that we haven't brought in the needed talent yet. I will say the staff has done a great job with our players. I also can see that you have a one sided opinion. When we do bring in the needed talent I am not going to trust your keen eye to tell me we have succeded.

I don't know where they got their info - they were dead wrong about all the new players we have and how we lost so much talent (Taylor Brown & Donivine Stewart?) and that Geno is starting from scratch with no talent as of he was just hired last month and we don't have any juniors or seniors and nobody who can score or play defense....

At this point, I agree. Crawford, Hodges, Shayok, Bell, and Pickett. Other than one player, I haven't seen too much production from these guys.

I like Pickett.
I'm not sure how much time Bell and Crawford get next season.
Shayok has been a disappointment.
Hodges.....

I'm hoping the players we have coming in next season changes that and RC can get some talent to come here and play!

I can agree with that. Although Bell may be a valuable role player. I think we need to see Fields and Grier. Shayock and Crawford have been dissapointing so far. I don't count first year recruits that heavily against a coach. We really only have Bell an Pickett to judge from.

As far as team and coaching performance. We have far exceded my expectations.

What I found most ironic about Kaplan's comments was that many were at one time calling him Les' buddy... the guy who leaked Les' firing before anyone knew about it. It was weird hearing him say that the cupboard was left bare (by Les) for Geno and that he had done a terrific job with so little. I don't entirely agree with his comments but do think that Geno and staff have done a terrific job this year with this team. Last year? Not so much.

I noticed that too. Kaplan ripped BU for getting rid of Les when it happened, and I believe Les was a guest on some NCAA show Kaplan hosted soon after he was fired.

Thanks for your positive outlook on our team and coach.

Kaplan's source about the firing was not Jim Les. And they are not buddies, though they are acquainted. I am still baffled why people in Peoria still seem obsessed with the fact a Chicago guy scooped the local press. Does anyone think it might have remained a secret if not for Kaplan? Lots of people knew about it, but the local Media was waiting for some kind of press release.

The Chicago media have the game report this way...

for practically the entire game UIC played adequate defense and thwarted our every effort and ruined our game plan...
then in the final couple minutes we "abandoned" our game plan, "prompting Bradley coach Geno Ford to virtually stop calling plays from the bench"....
and our guards went off and did their own thing and their athleticism & ability were superior and won the game..

In other words - our game plan failed but our players were superoir and carried us to victory...

not my words...read it for yourself - those are from the Sun Times

After watching the first half, I was reminded of last season and wondering what exactly our game plan was.
